starting to get more excited. got the house all clean this weekend (hopefully the kids will help and keep it that way). now I just need to wrap a few things up with work, do some laundry and pack...the kids have packed, but i should probably double check their suitcases.

also received the great beach towel from DVC, but will not be packing it. I need as much space as possible, even though i hope to pack light. hoping to find some gifts on this trip. Also hoping that since DVC acknowledged our cruise that it will mean we will receive the special pins.

question about passports. when you are walking around the ports, do you need to bring them with you. Should we just carry copies?

time to get to work, the sooner i wrap things up, the sooner i can feel i'm on vacation.

BTW, weather predications in Barcelona for the end of the week look to be in the mid to upper 70's...sounds good to me, i was thinking it was going to be a lot warmer.

I am way behind. A partially packed hand luggage. The camera bag is bursting to the seams with the camcorder, film, digital and 35mm cameras etc. Clothes are all over the house. Now I've got to go and finish laundry and start packing.
As for DD passport I renewed it nearly 15 weeks ago and it still hasn't arrived yet.

AH!!! Hope it arrives soon! Nothing like leaving things to the last minute and I'm sure it will arrive the morning you leave cause its Sods law. No matter how early you try and organise something its bound to be a last minute panic! Fingers crossed though! Have you phoned the passport office to chase them up?

lol Ah well what else are long flights for right? I'm working Friday as our flight is at 7pm and I'm sure Ill still manage to sleep on the 2 hour trip. Not used to travelling to Europe as mainly holiday in the states so this will be an unusual thing only getting on a short plane journey, and hopefully no jet lag as only gaining 1 mesley hour!

Well I now need to make a decision. Half way through Harry Potter and dont know whether to take it with me (bearing in mind I rarely read when on holiday prefer to be doing stuff - cant sit still for long so no sunbathing for me) or leave it till I get back? Dont think Im going to get through it by the time I go as for some reason its taking me ages. Think its cause I'm distracted about the holiday!

Anyone any thoughts? Its a huge book and would need to bring home with me to put in my collection!

Disney does not keep your passport, you do We just showed it to them and kept the original in the safe that was in the closet.

Before our Medhead cruise in June we ate at this pizza place called La Poma on Las Ramblas--good pizza and they bring you fresh olives and tomato bread for an appetizer--the olives do not taste like American olives that you are used to! Good choice for kids. There is also a Hard Rock, KFC and Burger King on Las Ramblas also if your kids are dying for American food. We met up with our foreign exchange student, his brother and his parents then. His brother only ate American food (they are from Poland) That is why I know about the fast food joints

We did not have tapas but if there is any way I would do that. Don't forget, Spain is known for their Sangria! There are lots of sidewalk cafes on Las Ramblas also.

Just got home from Beall's, where I got a variety of skirts and shirts that can be mixed and matched so I can stretch out our luggage space and still look semi-decent (same clothes, different combos!). Today is the last day of the sales tax holiday in FL, so that made it a bit of a bargain. One more step closer to being ready...less than four days to go!!

I did something similar earlier this summer. I hit the JJill early summer sale and picked a few skirts and a variety of tops that I can mix and match. For the semi-formal nights I am bringing a nice black skirt with a few different dressy tops to wear with it. It has helped cut down on the packing but we are still ending up with 3 bags plus one carry on (back pack) for each of us.

The days are speeding by!! Our flight leaves at 2:15 on Friday and we arrive in Barcelona at 9:25am on Saturday.

DCL only keeps non US citizen passports. If you have a US passport you get to keep it in your safe. So any official photo ID is ok to show to get back on the ship. Those without can get photo copies of their passports.

My mom, my husband and myself are flying out of SFO on Friday afternoon to Frankfurt then from Frankfurt on to Barcelona. Anyone else on these flights? We are so excited. This will be my mom's first cruise of any kind and first trip out of the country, we are so happy for her!

Hi Dee, sorry to hear you are stressing and having trouble sleeping. in terms of being ready for the trip, you sound like you are in good shape....all packed and i'm sure you've gone over your packing list many times. as long as you have all your required docs you should be in good shape....anything else can be bought or borrowed.

we have not packed yet. last night melanie and I went through her clothes and they are piled on a chair in her room. tonight i'll want to take out my clothes and print my magnets. kenny still has to decide what he is bringing. he tell me he "has an idea" what he wants to bring. i hope to have most of it in the suitcases by thursday night so friday i'm not stressing.

Yep that's the one! DisneyVegas is on it as well. We'll have to try to meet up. Been planning the wardrobe. I'll have on a red shirt and a silver Mickey necklace. I cannot believe it's almost here! DisneyVegas should be easy to recognize...;-)
