Each time I click on my next cruise, I see your thread. I wish you as much fun as we had Bringing the Magic Home thru the Panama Canal. It was a total blast. Anything that someone on your boards arranges can add to the fun.

We had a wine tasting where each participant brought a bottle to share (DCL supposedly said they won't do this again unless we pay the corking fee for each bottle!)

We had a "meet and greet" session to get to know our fellow dis-ers. Several people brought small gifts to share--magnets with our logo on them, mini-highlighters to use on Navigators, etc.

We had shirts and lanyards made that could be ordered, along with name tags.

There was a tour of various categories of staterooms--fellow dis-ers opened their cabins so that we could see a 1,2, 3 (various configurations), handicapped cabins, and other things that you might not be aware of.

All of this takes a little organization in advance, but added to the fun.

DCL was great--special menus, entertainment, etc. The cruise was totally Magical. I wish you all as much fun as we had.

TGIF we are one week closer to our cruise.

Next week Scratch will be able to post "this year" we cruise.

Everyone have a happy, healthly and safe New Year.:thumbsup2

Janet is having a grand time on board the Magic right now :cool1: Though she has stated we need to do a write in campaign to get DCL to hire a good band for our cruise !

For those that watched the WDW X-Mas parade - 3 of our cruisers where in it :thumbsup2 DeverVal (hopefully by now the worst of the snow storm is over) & her daughter Rachel - and Lindsay (DLetz's daughter). 2 at WDW & 1 at DL Resort :goodvibes :goodvibes Not bad for the fools :wizard:

We also picked up a light weight bag - with a mini-garmet bag exterior - Belinda's Cinderella dress will be in there !

Anybody here - good on doing braids for the tiara ? Belinda still has her's from the BBB trip in Sept. - and you KNOW she will want it in for formal night.

Well , Just made another payment today ...Wahoo:dance3: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

well we are a third of the way there ...:lmao: :lmao:

Still debating the Air thing ...DCL did make a nice offer though - 1000.00 From Vegas to BCN including transfers (with bags) and then from MCO (orlando) back to Vegas ....

So does this sound about right ????

Wow, lost my notification and have pages to catch up on! DisneyVegas1, no worries, we will become posting maniacs now that Christmas/Hanukkah is done!

The times seem to suit us but just using travelocity, I found a $543.80 flight per person through Aerlingus there and United back for $105.80 per to O'Hare. That's a difference of nearly $600 dollars for the pair of us. I wonder how much trouble is it to get to the port from the airport in Barcelona? :confused3
There are a number of our group who are using AerLingus to get to Spain. You can get a cab to the port for about 20 euros, I believe. We're getting there a few days early to explore Barcelona on our own, so we're not concerned about flight delays.

Just purchased a new suitcase too - one of the extra light ones - so hopefully we will stay under the 50 pd rules.
What kind did you get?? Spill it! My suitcase blew out a wheel and I need to replace it...

i bought it this morning at 63.99 (it was 20% off), now it says only 10% off so, it's $71.99. wow. . .but, if you buy it thru fatwallet.com you get another 9% off, so it would be $65.51.
here's the link http://www.ebags.com/delsey/helium_lite_100_trolley_duffel/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=40859
I will check it out, thanks!

Now I have high expectations on this , cause on the last thread for our 9 16 Double Dip cruise they are getting real close to 70,000 posts and though I still chit chat on that thread this is my future home obviously since we are going on this cruise now ..LOL

Hope fully by then we might have a group shirt , lanyards , braclets and so forth ..LOL - I guess since I got off the Magic two weeks ago with over 250 DISers , you know there has to be lots of planning ahead :lmao: :lmao:

That song always reminds me of Captain Jack. Basically because the first time I heard it was when one of my fellow wenches shared a youtube video and it was all Capt Jack Sparrow.

Just curious ...Those that sailed on the Panama cruises , was the Navigator pretty much the same going to CA as it was coming home from CA ....At least this will give us an Idea if the Navigator from the PC to Barcelona will be the same coming back , but of course in reverse ???

So all you Panamaniacs , let us know

I think most of the activities were the same though they were able to make some improvements after learning from their mistakes. I don't think every nights entertainment was the same either - I think only one cruise had Susan Eagan and a movie PremEAR.

The cruise in May had much less children and included adult-time in the kids' labs making flubber and stuff. There was none of that on the return sailing. The August cruise had many more children and included a Princess Tea Party in Lumiere's hosted by Belle.

All in all, I think reading the May's navigator should be a pretty good indication of what we will be experiencing.

Good , at least this should give us some idea about what nights are Formal , Semi Formal and Pirate night so we can plan Palo nights around those ...I hope ..

Just returned from the Christmas cruise on the Wonder - it was a perfect Christmas with my kids and 4 year old grandson. He loved the "area" as he called the Oceaneer Club! I got up enough nerve to talk to the cruise planner about rebooking in order to save 10% plus gratuties and onboard credit. To be honest I didn't think they would do that - but she did. Wow!
I have learned a lot from this board and the best part is I'm saving money because of all of you. In my conversation with the cruise planner she also said that they all know about the Dis board too. Our server in Palo's at brunch said that Disney was going to announce in January that they were building 2 new ships - same length but 13 stories high - just thought I'd pass along that rumor. I am going to miss this thread. I check it out everyday. It has helped me plan my Med cruise. We've decided to take the Magic to the Med so changed our ressie and had to spend most of yesterday changing our plane flight. Now I need to read thru the 1556 messages on that thread. I signed up for Dis Tag so I need to be taken off that list. I do have a question
as I'm sure they will do it going over - how many gifts do you buy for the Dis party? Everything is on sale now and I thought this would be a good time to stock up. I know it was suggested on this thread to get something like a postcard or key chain from your state. I'd appreciate any help with this question. I learned about the Dis family when we brought the Magic home thru the Panama Canal and it is a part of my daily routine - just like reading my hometown paper in Kansas. I will try to send pictures and updates about our cruise over to the Med.

DenverVal,

Thanks for the PM. I tried to reply but have been blocked due to having less than 5 posts. I'll try again when I have posted more.

HAPPY NEW YEAR ! Sailing the Med this year :cool1:

We'll miss you Nanaguide .... so you will have to be our eyes & ears for Menu changes and some of the special events.

I DO NOT want to bring up this subject - but the only prob. with getting into the # of kids on the ship - is that Disney designed the ship to sail with a ratio of children to adult guests. The May PC Repo - cruise did get to go into the lab and do stuff - but - all the adult areas were overcrowded - a lot more smokers and such.

With that said - I sailed on the combined Wonder/Magic sailing after Hurricane Frances - and DCL threw out the rulebook on that one too ! Ended up with about 1400 kids on the ship - way too many for the kid areas to handle -- so the ship was overun -- DCL did state by the end of the cruise that they would never do it again!

Now that we are in the year of sailing - we do need to work on creating more T-Shirts - we do have one design already. Desiging a Bringing the Magic Home - logo - for the Magnet to be used for the tag game.

Not sure if we are doing gift exchanges onboard or not - due to weight issues - and trying to explain 200 + roach clips (ahem - Jack Sparrow Beads) might get tricky with customs :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

What does everyone else think ?

Welcome aboard Ian -- What part of England are you from ? Some of our cruisers - BigCheeser & Walsh Family are meeting up the weekend of the 20th
