Thanks, great idea and it looks like it will be a helpful thread! :thumbsup2

I'm crawling back into life -- thanks for everyone's offers of sympathies. I just wanted to share with you someone else's thoughts about my friend who died: "Nathan was very well loved and universally respected. He was open hearted, giving, and always looking for a place to lend a hand. He was a fiercely loyal friend. He loved his children above all."

Life goes on, eh?

Alisha -- I'll email you soon.

Hello all!

Happy Friday to you! I'm so relieved to see your countdown reminder Janet. This week, it means more than ever! I just found out that my DH officially has permission from his work to be gone for the repo cruise! I've been pretty quiet lately because I wasn't sure if we were going to be able to go. My DH is the only one at his company that runs the service department. So even though he put in for the days off a long time ago, we hadn't heard until now that it was approved for certain. I can now breath a sigh of relief! I'm so excited! I feel like I just booked the cruise all over again! It's terrible when you have doubts about your vacation destiny! I'm going to enjoy this cruise all the more now. Nothing like a big scare to make you appreciate things!

I'm ready for another weekend in WI. I didn't get enough sleep this week! ACK! Too much going on! I hope everyone has a fun weekend!

See you next week!
Erica J.

We won't know until next May 15th if Howard will have the time off or not. :confused3

So I'm worried about buying airfare. I don't want to spend the money on airfare and find out we can't go. On the otherhand I'm sure if I wait until the middle of next may it will be too expensive and we won't be able to go anyway.

Which leads me to a question. I have found that if we leave from the closest airport to us, it would cost just under 3000 for the 3 of us using Disney air. Since I don't really want to pay more than 3000, I was thinking of adding Disney air and canceling it if I find something cheaper. Can I do this? Do I have until Final payment to cancel the air portion? My only problem with this is that I want to arrive in Barcelona at least by Friday in case of problems, and we really had planned to fly home from Florida on Monday not Saturday. But if it's a choice between 3000 for flights or a lot more for flights I guess we can skip WDW.

I already told my boss I'm going, but haven't actually handed him the paperwork.

Donna

Well, you can get air for 3 for THIS AUGUST, going to BCN on the 17, coming back from FL on Mon Sept 4th (Labor Day), for $3004 (2 adults, 1 child, from/to SNA). So all things considered, you can probably at least match if not beat Disney next May. It's more a matter of how picky you are about the flights (for instance, long layover in the airports might make for a cheaper flight, but not many people can stomach it). The flights I priced had 1 stop each (I refuse to make more than 1 connection myself).

Just my $.02...

Hi Donna,

I think Disney charges a $50 per person fee for "extending" the upside of that is that if you cancell the cruise you won't be stuck with the airfare.

I still haven't told my boss about this one, but as he is taking three weeks off in Oct, he can't complain about a measly 16 days :confused3

Way to Go Erica! Must be a big relief knowing it's a go!

Donna ~ I have added DCL air to my ressie. I won't be doing the DLP before hand and when I called DCL to find out about air, pricing was not bad at all.

It included Air to Barcelona, Transfers from Airport to Port, Port to Airport and then Air MCO back home. If you want to make any kind of change it will cost $50.00 per person. Make sure you have all your requests in at one time. You will be given two days to Yay or Nay when they get back to you. It's too early to do any deviations, I've tried. I was told 330 out.

You can cancel your original option for Air without penalty.

PS Hugs to you guys!

I'm back -- finally- sorry for neglecting this thread for so long .....

I'm all caught up -- finally got over my bronchitis in June -- then hosted the BBQ - for 53 fools in our yard -- everyone had a great time ... the Surviver Cake by NYC Mickeymom - was incredible -- somebody has to post pics.

Then - we drove up to Boston - meet with BigCheeser & family - before they headed back to the Isle of Man -- can't wait to be on the ship for 14 nights with them again - 2 days wasn't enough :goodvibes

This past weekend we spent with old friends in Delaware County - New York State - Davenport is the name of the town - it's up by Syracuse - first time I've rode a ATV :thumbsup2

This weekend - I swim in the BAP :rotfl: Then the following weekend head up to Albany NY to visit friends.

August -we head to WDW -- with our neice in tow (age 6) - Her mother is due for the arrival of her 3rd child at the end of August - and we have voluntered to take her with us. Can't wait to hit the BBB with her in her Cinderella costume and then dinner at 1900 Park Fare. Of course we are doing the Safari with the GG (thanks Janet) and illuminations too!

I did get an excellent price on flights from NYC to Paris - $ 379 - on Aer Lingus (1 stop). Priced it for 6/1/07.

Dee - I've been in contact with Eurorail - we should exchange info we have received.

Soon we will be down to 1 yr to go

I'm exploring airfare options and having saved a bit with group rates previously I was wondering if there are any DC area folks interested in possible group airfare or if we have enough people charter?

Group airfare is a great idea - esp. from the major hubs -

There is a group planning to stay at the Holiday Inn - by DLP -- trying for a group rate there too :goodvibes Renee found out it is cheaper to book with them direct vs. going through the DLP site.

:thumbsup2 Thanks for posting this Erica. I got so caught up in the info I was getting, that I forgot to post here too.

It's Friday! The Last Friday of this Month! Which Means..............

We're almost at the 12 month mark!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Yes, and today I counted pay periods until the final payment (again). I was very close to having the cruise balance and airfare saved up, then DH decides that now is the time to have the basement drywall installed before the building permit expires... and the only liquid cash is our vacation money. So I had to recalculate my monthly contribution to our vacation fund. We'll get back there. DH is being required to contribute. ::cop:

Twenty days to the one-year mark!
