Bringing Guests to Top of the World Lounge

Just checking to make sure nothing has changed recently.

When staying on points, is it still permissable to bring guests with us to enjoy a cocktail/fireworks at the Top of the World Lounge?

DH & I both members, wanted to bring 3 friends we will be meeting who won't be staying with us. One will be staying onsite, the other two off.

As long as your friends are staying on points, bring them along, if not they are not supposed to be allowed. This is a MEMBER's PERK not a friends perk.

appears as though members on points or cash may access the lounge, along with their guests stated on the reservation.

this member doesn't get the wisdom of not being able to bring guests along that I happen to be entertaining at dinner and drinks, especially as they have an interest in DVC.

If the Member's Magic Band or Key to the World card doesn't display a Membership notation, a Disney Vacation Club Membership Card is required in addition to the Key to the World card to verify Membership."

You can always list them on your reservation.

true, we could, but I won't. Not worth it to me on principal. Will show up, if we are admitted, will smile and head up. Otherwise, will thank the CM for their time & head on over to CR and spend our $ there.

I admire you for sticking to your principals and not adding them to your reservation. However, are your principals forgotten if they admit you without question? The rules and your principals are still broken. Smile and head on up.

I'd bring last year's refillable mug for free coffee and tea just to even things out a bit.

They do check that you're a member, but I've never had them check the guests. Come to think of it, the last time I went, I brought 2 family members who were staying at a value. Didn't realize we were breaking the rule, but we probably spent more on refreshments than I'd ever done before.

I didn't know there was a rule against bringing guests. We are DVC members and have had friends with us before that are not and weren't staying in site. I showed a DVC card and they never questioned the others. And they made a lot of money off of us for a couple appetizers and rounds of drinks.

I thought the hours were 4- midnight? Every time I've gone up they only check 1 person's band. I always assumed the "guests" part of the rule was actual guests of the member...not guests of WDW. As long as the Lounge isn't close to capacity, I don't see the harm. And I doubt Disney does either if they are buying drinks. I don't think you will have a problem

So if my mom and I are staying at BLT and she wants to go to lounge for drink while I watch the baby can she go up without me?
She is on the reservation but it is my DVC membership.
Can she take my DVC card and her magic band and go to lounge?
We were going to take turns on different nights to watch fireworks while the baby sleeps.

I wonder though if the rule isn't there so they have a way to limit the crowds...yes, I know it really isn't an issue...if they need to. By having guidelines that state the lounge if for members and their traveling party, you have something to refer to if there is a concern about limits.

Having said that, it is certainly up to the CM on duty as to who will be allowed up when a member arrives and how far they go to check to see if the guests are part of the member's reservation. But, based on published guidelines, the lounge is for those that are with the member at the time of their trip.

Before I bought into DVC and we rented points at BLT I was able to go up without a problem. Now, this was also before TOWL was open to ALL DVC members, it was when it was only for BLT guests so that may have something to do with it. I will say, if one of my family members staying with me wasn't allowed up without me, but was on my reservation I would be annoyed that they weren't allowed. After all, if it's for "members and their guests" He/She WOULD technically is my guest. Why wouldn't they be allowed if I wanted to snooze in the room? We're not talking someone who lives in town.....this is someone on their reservation.

Never hurts to ask! If the lounge is not filled to capacity, I would simply inquire at the door. It seems to me they'd rather have the lounge full with guests than partially empty without them.
