I know I've read this somewhere, but I can't find the thread. We want to bring candy onboard (for kids at the movies, to give to CMs, etc.). Do I have to bring it in my carry-on? If I pack it in my luggage, will it be confiscated?

We are leaving tomorrow :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :Pinkbounc , so I need a quick answer if you know.

Thanks!

You can pack it.. You not supposed to take food on/off at any of the ports you will be visiting.

We have taken snacks on and off the ship at every port. You are not supposed to leave the ship in it's home port with fruit, vegetables or meat per federal regulations.

Maybe sealed items are allowed, like things in a bag/wrapper, but I saw a few times people trying to take pizza/coffee off & they had to either throw it away or eat it before exiting the ship.

We always pack things like granola bars and goldfish in our luggage, and it's never been confiscated. Just make sure to leave any opened stuff on the ship before you leave (or eat it) so that you don't have issues with the feds when you get off in Canaveral.

That's how it is. :) We always have a bag with juice boxes and snacks for the kids when we get off the ship. As long as they aren't opened either getting on or off the ship, you will be fine.

On our may cruise..the people trying to take food off the ship had to throw it away before they were allowed to leave the ship.

I called DCL about this last month, because 4 days without Baked Cheetos is too long for me. :teeth: As long as the food is in factory sealed bags/containers, that have NOT been opened, you can bring it on the ship in checked or carry on luggage.

So if I wanted to make my own chocolate chip cookies and bring them on board they wouldn't let me? I don't think I'd do this anyways since they have so many goodies on board!

Dairyou...I'm sure your chocolate chip cookies are incredible but...just try the ones from Scoops...to die for!!! :faint:

You can bring ON board anything you want to, including your choc chip cookies (but why? They have wonderful ones on the ship). The problem is that in some ports, you cannot take things OFF the ship. In US ports (Port Canaveral, US Virgin Islands) you cannot take off any fresh fruits or veges or any uncooked animal products. What you can take off the ship is controlled by the laws of the place you are visiting.

DCL does not recommend that you take food off the ship. That way, they can't be blamed if you order something and it goes bad due to lack or refrigeration...and you get sick as a result.

On arrival back in the US, you can take off anything in a factory sealed container---no problems. One time, DD took off with a few Big Island Cookies--again no problem. US law is very strict about the fresh produce and raw animal products.

Have you brought homemade stuff? I ask because DCL told me they wouldn't allow commercially made bread, if it was only sealed by twist tie. They told me everything coming on had to be in a sealed, unopened package. :confused3

Well, the plan was Skittles in ziploc baggies for the movies and wrapped candy in celophane party bags to give to the CMs. Technically not a factory package, but wrapped. We won't be bringing it off the ship, just on. So we should be okay? I'm wondering about those Skittles, though. I guess I'll just bring the bag and the ziplocs and bag them up once we get onboard.
