Hi,
Can I get away with just bringing my KTTW card some cash for tips and other items without needing a driver's license, is the KTTW, Disney Gift Card and cash ok? Thanks I have 3 weeks to go these boards have been so helpful!!!!!!:cool1:

Personally I would never go without my driver's lic.
Call me a paranoid, but in case of emergency I want ID on me. You never know what will happen and if you don't have any ID on you....well you get the picture.

We also carry a little cash, nothing big. Usually DH and I have about $20-30 between us.
The KTTW card is used for everything. But if I see something for a buck or 2 I certainly don't want to put it on the room.

Have a good trip!!

We travel with 3 kids (ages 6,7,8) and we take a minimal amount to the parks.

1. Cash - we don't like to put $$ on our KTTW - hate having to pay a balance at the end of the trip.

2. KTTW cards for all 5 of us

3. Drivers lic.

4. Small camara

Everything we takes fits in my husbands cargo shorts.

I am not one to carry around a bunch of stuff. If we buy something we send it to resort to pick up if we have enough day left or to the front to get as we leave.

Everyone carries their own sunglasses and the kids wear pin landyards.

I would actually put the Disney gift card on your KTTW card. Instead of linking our bank acct/credit card, we put $400 dollars on our KTTW card rather than carry a bunch of cash every day or worry about keeping it in the room. At the end of the trip we had a few dollars left and got a refund. If you lose your Disney gift card, you're pretty much just out. If you lose your KTTW card, it can be replaced.

I agree with the PP who suggested not going around without your id. You never know what might happen and I like to be prepared. DH & I took turns wearing a lanyard with our driver's licenses, a small amount of cash and KTTW cards in it. I stuck my debit card in there one day when I knew we were going to DTD. For security, I wore the card holder inside of my shirt.

We had several things to carry because we have kids & we like to be prepared. We took a small backpack & put a small amount of cash in the backpack, too. Whoever didn't have the lanyard had the backpack and so neither of us was ever without some cash for a drink, snack, or whatever.

DD10 wore a waist pack with some spending money, autograph book, and sunglasses. We would have let her carry her KTTW card but it was easier for us to keep them all together for FPs.

DS5 told me I had to carry his stuff. :)

Driver's License, room key (with charging privileges) and Medical card plus 10 bucks......really nothing else is needed....of course park tickets.....all else is in the room safe....

Thanks everyone! This is all very helpful I forgot about my medical insurance card, great thoughts and really a great help!!!!

Just going to suggest you bring your insurance card! Last trip we ended up with an emergency trip to the critical care center straight from Epcot.

I would absolutely bring my driver's license. You may be carded for alcohol and if you don't have it you can't drink. PLus, if something is wrong with your KTTW card they may need backup identification. As others have said, it also provides identity.

We always carry our IDs just in case they ask for it when we use our credit cards and KTTW card. We also often have APs and if anything happens with or to them we have to show ID to get them reissued.

I am one of those dorks that wears a fanny pack. I bought a small velcro wallet thta holds license, med ins card, cc and a small amount of cash. The fanny pack has a zipper in the back where I put our KTTW cards so I can get them out & in quickly. I carry my digital camera, cell phone, ibuprofen and tissues also.I don't leave any cash in the room.

I would def keep your ID with you, just in case. Also, one thing I've learned first-hand is that sometimes, you reallllly want something from a place that doesn't take KTTW charging as a valid form of payment, or (as tends to happen from time to time) the system is down and charging against rooms isn't possible. Had that happen at dinner one night in EPCOT (whoops!). Now I always carry my credit card with me, just in case a situation like that happens again.

Def bring your I.D with you into the parks if you plan on using your KTTW. CMs are supposed to ask for I.D if the back of the card isn't signed just as a security measure. Plus, if you look under 40...they ask to see I.D for buy alcohol :)

We have canvas pouch lanyards that I got from Office Depot. The have a zipper pocket in the back, an opening in the top (I never use that area), and a clear plastic pouch in the front that I cut a thumb sized slot down the front to help me slide my things in and out of it better. I hang this around my neck and can tuck it in my shirt. In it I keep:

Clear pouch pocket - Drivers License, KttW card, any CC I take, and any FPs I may get.
Rear zippered pocket - Any cash that I bring with me.

My wife, God help her, wears a fanny pack. I know, I know. I keep trying to get her to stop. But she carries her things in that so I have her hold on to all of the tip money that I will be using for that particular day.

The cameras and other stuff go in the backpack. But I am getting a cool new point and shoot camera and I doubt we'll even be taking the backpack in next trip.

do you have to tip with cash or can that go on your KTTW?

where can I get a gift card to start adding money to? I don't have a disney store near me but it sounds like a great way to start saving some spending money!

I'm sure you can use your KttW card for tips. When they bring out the check just make sure that you write down the correct tip amount and hand them that with the KttW card that you are paying for the dinner with. It ought to be just fine. Your KttW card will be just like a CC on the Disney property.

You can go to your bank to get a loadable VISA card. I get several for each trip. The less cash I have to deal with the better. Mine are as follows:

VISA card #1 - for gas (around $100)
VISA card #2 - for misc merchandise (around $350) (I use this one for things I don't want the family to have to spend personal spending money on.)
VISA card #3 - for food not covered on he Disney Dining Plan (around $250)
VISA card #1 - for Emergency money (around $150)

Then when I am in a position to need gas for the rental, use the gas card. In a position to need to pay for a meal, use the food card, etc...

The only cash I carry with me would be tips for that particular day, and my personal daily spending money. I take the total amount I bring for me on the trip and split it between the number of days. $1000 divided by 9 days = $111 each day. The rest of the cash stays in the wall safe with my laptop and the other family members spending money.

Can you use a Disney GC or is that only good for merchandise? I'm just trying to limit carrying cash if I can.

Oh and can 2 adults in the party have a different cc attached to their KTTW card? To explain, I am paying for Nana's trip but if she wants to buy stuff with her KTTW card can she put her own cc linked to her card and me have my own or must all the cards be the same?

I called Disney and found your info since I did not want to give you erroneous facts. The Disney GC can be used for anything in Disney as long as the place is Disney owned. No Rainforest Cafe' purchases. :) As to whether you can reload that card you will need to call the number on the back of it to find that out. Most gift cards are a one time load card unless it states upon purchase that it is re loadable. (Bank GCs, etc...).

And yes, you can add one CC to one KttW card and another CC to another KttW card even if they are both in the same room. :)

Awesome, you rock! Thanks. I do believe, too, that those gc are one time load, at least from what I see online at the disney store...decisions decisions :rotfl:

I plan on going to a site I just found that will allow me to personalize my cards this next trip. (see below) And I can add the salutation that I want to add so I can have one say "FOOD" for our extra food money, one will say "General Merchandise", etc...
Dont worry admins.... those are obviously fake numbers and this card doesn't exist. :)

I always bring my driver's license, insurance card and one credit card for backup with me in the parks. I also usually have some cash on me too and quarters/pennies for the penny machines.

I carry a passporter pouch around my neck that the DL, insurance card, credit card, cash and KTWW card go into.
