Hi! Our girls will be 5 & 6 the next time we return to WDW. We are planning to have them go to the Neverland Club one night while we go to dinner alone. Should we go to Ohana or California Grill with them? One of them is a very picky eater so Ohana worries me. Any input on this topic would appreciated!

Thanks so much!

well, speaking as a teen and having younger siblings, I know that we liked Ohana better than the California Grill. If one of you daughters is picky maybe take them to Ohanna for breakfast. Its a charecter meal and they have a parade around the restaurant every morning. They serve scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, fruit, sticky buns, and a really yummy hawaiin bread.

I've never been to cali grill, but I'd take them to Ohanas! They have stuff(coconut races, limbo) during dinner for the kids to do and they'll have a blast!!! For your picky eater, they have a alternate menu for them. I think its standard kids fare, but I'm not 100% sure!

Your children would most likely enjoy Ohana more than Cali Grill

Flame blockers on :cool2: : I'm just putting this out there for the people who go to signature restaurants to have a romantic/quiet/upscale evening (and I mean nothing else by it and have no personal aversion or hatred for people with children or even the children themselves)... take the kids to Ohana. That location is designed for families, as are many many other Disney restaurants. The Signature locations are geared more for adults. Not that your children aren't lovely and well-behaved and not that there's anything wrong with taking them to the Signature places. I just felt the need to say it for those who have an opinion similar to the previous but don't have the stupidity to say it out loud.

So :furious: away, I promise not to take it personally.

I do agree with you MadamMim - no flames here.

Ohana is more fun for kids - I read in one trip report about someone else with picky kids who went to Ohana and they were told that the kids could order burger and fries or similar.

another vote for ohana! How picky is she? The meats are not covered w/sauces. My boys really enjoyed them. What food are you worried she won't like?

Basically this is what she likes, mac & cheese, pizza, chicken nuggets, plain grilled chicken. Thats it! :confused3

Bring them to Ohana and do Cali Grill without them. They will enjoy Ohana a lot more.

I'm trying to remember what they have that she would eat. The chicken is grilled and once cut up, she might not notice any seasoning. I wish they had a mac and cheese offering for her. Have you thought about Whispering Canyon at Wilderness lodge? They have a fun atmosphere and more home cooking.

Definitely Ohana's!! It is one of my kids' favorite restaurants b/c of all the fun games. My daughter is 3 1/2 and my son is 7 and they both love it. They will bring out "kid" food if you child does not eat what they have to offer. My son is picky and loves the food there now, but when he was about 4 he got a plate of chicken nuggets with french fries there. They will definitely accomodate you if the regular food doesn't work for kids. You will love it there!

That good to know! then i would really do ohana!!

You can get your waiter to bring an alternate kids' meal for picky eaters at 'Ohana.

'Ohana is MADE for families and caters to children. CA Grill does not.

I agree with ohanas....it is very fun for kids and they will bring you a chicken finger meal if you want... and I also agree with the fact most people go to cg for a nice meal without kids...

California Grill WILL have plenty of kids at it. It has a children's menu - and one of the most fun kid's desserts at Disney - rice krispy bar sushi. Many of the kids will be well behaved and won't interrupt a dinner at all. But dinner at CG may run $100+ per person - that isn't difficult to do there with three or four courses (their cheese course is incredible) and a glass of wine or two and it may last two hours. Its the rare kid who wouldn't prefer coconut races.

I mentioned to my husband earlier about my plan to go to C Grill while putting the kids in the Neverland Club and he is making me feel guilty. From what I have heard kids love going there. I gotta work on him on this topic now. :stir:
