Bring bikes or do golf cart rental?

I'm all set up for hauling all five of our bikes, and usually do that for any camping trip. But on a recent trip to Myrtle Beach I found that the bikes didn't get much use once when we had a golf cart sitting next to the site. It's a bit of a hassle to bring the bikes, and I'd rather not do that if they will just be sitting there unused.

So, I am thinking it will be one or the other - bikes or golf carts. Golf carts are fun, but cost quite a lot. Bikes seem more flexible to me - the kids can go places on their own, and I expect that we can take the bikes to places that they do not allow the carts. So, I am leaning towards going with bikes. What are your thoughts?

I am not a bike person, so I'm gonna vote for Golf cart.
However, you already have the bikes,,sooo if you wanna save a few bucks .
But golf carts are fun to wheel around in, and I do tend to be sloth like.

Ooops, sorry Denise. This is Frank posting,,I'm not gonna bother to delete this,,so just know I'm Frank.

I know it can be a pain to bring the bikes....we have 5 of them too. But I really think you would have fun with bikes AND a golf cart !! We used the golf cart to go looping and up the Marina/Settlement areas for meals/transportation. We used our bikes for nice family bike rides and to go over to Wilderness Lodge. The kids also used them to go to the parks or kid activities. We will be using both of them again for our next trip.

This probably won't help you out but on our last trip, we brought both. I rode my bike over to WL; carts can't go on the path. It was nice to take a leisure bike ride around the fort. On the other hand, we do use our cart a lot! We love to go looping in the cart.

so I would say both! But that's just me and I KNOW I wold use both but if you think your family won't use both then don't bring both. The cart is nice though when you are coming back from the parks tired.

On our last trip we brought our golf cart and bikes for the kids only. We really like riding our bikes around the Fort...but after we purchased our golf cart, we found that the hassle of bringing our bikes wasn't worth it. Unless I'm planning on riding over to WL (I really wish they would allow carts on that path)...the adult bikes stay at home. I'd say its all up to personal preference. :)

I have never brought bikes with us to the fort...but I found myself wishing I had on our last trip. Dont get me wrong...if I HAD to choose one over the other, Id never leave my cart at home..but I think I would have done some riding in the early a.m. if I would have had a bike. That path to WL really looks inviting, not to mention fishing behind the 300 loop..you arent supposed to bring carts back there...and I was always worried that my cart would get stolen or towed when parked in the 300 loop while I was fishing.

if they allowed carts on the trail to the lodge. we (us campers) would never have them available to us.. all the sloth like ;) lodgers would have them booked.

do the bikes and rent a cart for a couple of the days (sorry couldn't remember if you own the cart or not).. the kids can do what they want with their bikes there...

whenever we bring our bikes and have a rental cart also we don't use the bikes so we stopped bringing them now we just rent a cart til I can find one and get it to disney hopefully for our 09 trip

we'd vote Bikes, the Cart Rental Rate is rediculous. and besides we really enjoy riding our Bikes while we're there and it's good exercise
