Bring a screwdriver to take the "puck" out of new MB???

I don't mind the MBs, and actually prefer the new ones. But, since I've started wearing a Fitbit on my left wrist, I can't wear the MB on the same arm. And I can't abide anything on my right wrist. So, the Keepers work great. I have one on each of my bags. I've even put it on a belt loop if going bagless!!
And yes, those screws are tiny. And sometimes you have to work at it to get the insert piece to lie flat.

Interesting because it's complete opposite with me and my wife. We both think the new bands are a lot better than the old ones. Their thinner and lighter and after about 5-10 min I forget I'm wearing it. The mickey head being the puck now makes it sit in one spot easier for me than the older model
It is the wider width of the new ones that I don't like. The old ones were skinnier and I was able to wear them on my left wrist between my watch and hand without any issue. I can't do that with the new one because the puck area is 1/2 inch wider than the old band. I don't like wearing anything on my right wrist.

For me its not about the old or new version. I just don't like wearing the MB.

Ayep.

PLUS I have super small wrists and they were always too big on me - never stayed "upright" so that they were always awkward to try to scan 'cuz they were always facing the wrong direction.

Even when you take off the outer band?

I didn't try it with the new ones, but with the older I tended to put the mickey head to the side of my wrist instead of on top or bottom. Then just choose the entry kiosk that lines up with that arm. I don't tend to charge to the room (that's super awkward for me to scan it then do the pin and I'd rather just pull out money/card), and I take it off to open the door to the room.

Then again, I was the one working with tiny screws over the sink, so it's possible I'm just missing some brain cells.

That made me laugh. :)

I bought the Magic Keeper with the Minnie Mouse ears. The ears did not fall off during my trip. But I put it on a lanyard and wore it around my neck. If I had attached it to my bag, and it had been banging against the bag and who knows what else all day, maybe the result would have been differently.

I bought it on the Shop Disney app because on that particular day they were on sale on the app, with free shipping. They were not on sale on the disneystore.com website and the website did not have free shipping.

Will an glasses repair kit screwdriver work? We are doing a split stay and DS wants to mix and match his pucks and bands. We aren't planning on buying a magic keeper, so it sounds like I need to bring a screwdriver.

Thanks!

As long as it is VERY small. Those screws are minuscule.

Mine came with a little screwdriver. It was hard to get the puck in - there was an issue with one of the areas where it kept catching so I sanded it down a little bit and it popped right in.

So maybe bring some sandpaper - I used 180 grit since that's what I had at home.

Curious why you would bring the screwdriver with you instead of doing it at home?

It's a real PITA to get the puck into the Magic Keeper. I would not mix and match the pucks and bands to create unique color combinations. I would only take the puck out of the band it comes in if I did not want to wear a band on my wrist.

When I got my Magic Keeper, I watched 3 different videos of people putting their puck into the Magic Keeper, and all 3 of them had problems. I would think it would be the same with switching a puck into a different band. There's a little disc that the puck sits in, and it tends to bend/warp when you work with it. If you want to put the puck in a Magic Keeper (or a different band) and you manage to get it to click into place, be thankful, screw it in and don't change it again.

I found that you had to carefully press it into place one corner at a time. Your instinct is to press in the middle of the puck, but it won't work that way.

As someone mentioned, you will drop a screw. I was assembling mine at home, so I did it over an open box.

Here's the screwdriver and the disc next to a ruler:

What is it about the new bands that people don't like exactly?

Really, I don't understand. We really like the new bands as, to us, they are much more flexible and comfortable. We forget they are on.

Maybe, one reason is because people 'can' put the puck in other things and it's something different!! More money for the Mouse!! :D

Everyone has their own personal reasons - to each their own!!

We did several and had no issues! My kids loved mixing them, they did school colors and got lots of reaction from CM's. I dislike the MB so I moved mine into the keychain.

Maybe we got lucky but I did one and my kids did two each and we didn't have any trouble and would do it again. You do have to be patient but in our opinion the result was worth it.

I don't like anything on my wrist, period. No watches, bracelets, magic bands... wearing then with a lanyard is much easier and much more comfortable for me, I even have very thin, cord like lanyards I plan on bringing with me so we can make the change as soon as we check in (international traveler here).
