This is our first trip with the new re-designed magic bands - I hate wearing them and was thinking I might want to buy one of the keychain things to put the "puck" in. I remember reading there's a screw you have to take out or something - does the keychain thing come with a screw driver or do I need to bring one from home? TIA

Installation tip for those swapping out their puck: put a towel down on your work surface and hold the MB in the center, away from the edges. Then when (not if) you drop a screw it just stays where it falls rather than bouncing away.

What is it about the new bands that people don't like exactly?

It isn't that I disliked the new band I just only like to wear one watch size thing at a time and prefer my apple watch so I have been usig a Magickeeper since they were available.

I have never liked wearing them - the new ones have nothing to do with it other than you have the option to buy a carabiner clip thing to put it on instead. I have also read reports where the new ones tend to come off more easily and people are losing them. Like others have posted I wear a watch on one wrist so then I would put the MB on the other one so then I had 2 things going on. Just bothered me. PLUS I have super small wrists and they were always too big on me - never stayed "upright" so that they were always awkward to try to scan 'cuz they were always facing the wrong direction. I think I will like using the carabiner more.

And two extra little screws. They are tiny little buggers. And it can be a bit tricky to get the puck seated right in the Magic Keeper. Just FYI.

Thank you!! There are different styles to buy right? Don't some have ears on them? I thought I saw someone post a pic with his & hers Mickey & Minnie ones.

I'm not sure what it is about them, but they're just not as...unobtrusive, I guess is a good word...as the old ones. With the old ones, I would put it on and forget it. With these new ones I feel them no matter what. Our son doesn't have a sensory disorder but he is pretty particular about what comes in contact with his skin, and he absolutely hated the new version of the bands (he had no trouble with the old ones). The rest of us weren't fans and took them off as soon as we could each day, and the day we transferred to Universal we had them off before we left the resort for the last time. You'd think with the thinner, more flexible band material they'd be more comfortable, but they're not. It could because the puck is now so big that they're harder to ignore. Or something. I really wish they'd go back to the old design with the thinner band material.

Interesting because it's complete opposite with me and my wife. We both think the new bands are a lot better than the old ones. Their thinner and lighter and after about 5-10 min I forget I'm wearing it. The mickey head being the puck now makes it sit in one spot easier for me than the older model

Yes there's a Minnie one and a Mickey one

Great, thanks!! I ordered a red one for our trip next week thinking it would be cute in the Minnie one. Glad I wasn't dreaming that up!!

I have heard that the little bow on the Minnie keeper falls off easily. Just something to keep in mind!
