Bridging to AP

We are planning our next trip for December '17. I am purchasing my tickets from ParkSavers. I think that I would like to bridge 1 pass to an AP.

1. I can only bridge my tickets to an AP in person?

2. The bridge cost will be the difference between current gate price and current AP price?

3. The AP start date will be from the day I bridge, or the day I purchased my ParkSavers tickets?

4. Do I purchase Memory Maker now and hope to get credit for it, or would I have a problem not purchasing it, and have it included in the new AP the day of and be able to get pictures taken right away?

5. If I request an AP discounted room, but don't have the AP until I get to the park, I have to do the bridge before I check in to my hotel? I can not do an online check in then?

6. Can I purchase MVMCP tickets in advance, and then get credit for the AP discounted tickets or do I chance buying them the day of and hope it isn't sold out.

Anything else I should be made aware of in trying to do this?

I have been searching and reading all the posts regarding my questions, but seem to be getting different information depending on the OP specific questions, or the year the thread was created.

1. Yes, you must do it yourself at Guest Relations
2. I believe the bridge cost will be the difference between the gate price when you purchased your tickets and the current AP price
3. I would think the AP start date would be the date you first used your ticket at the park, even though it wasn't an AP

1. Yes, only in person
2. Based on current policy, the price difference should be the difference in that day's current gate price and the price of an AP
3. The AP start date will be the date you first entered the park with the ticket whether it's as a Parksaver or an upgraded AP.
4. If Memory Maker is still a perk when you upgrade to the AP, it will start then. I wouldn't purchase Memory Maker if you are planning on upgrading (unless they take that perk away!)

1. Yes. Recommend that you do not use the word "bridge," though - you just need to tell the CM that you want to upgrade your ticket to an AP.
2. Yes - your Parksavers ticket will be valued at the gate price of the same ticket on the day you upgrade. Check the prices so that you know exactly what you should expect to pay before you visit Guest Relations, and speak up if the price you're quoted doesn't seem right.
3. The AP start date will be the first day that you use the ticket.
4. No need to purchase MM in advance. You can have photos taken before you upgrade your ticket, and they will appear in your account. Once you upgrade, they will be available for download via the AP Photopass benefit.
5. You can do online check-in. You might not ever be asked to show your AP. If you are, just let the CM know you will stop back at the desk once you upgrade.
6. I'm not sure about this one. I don't know how often MVMCP sells out. If you want to buy in advance, you could try asking about a price adjustment at GR when you're there for your upgrade.

This is incorrect. WDW wouldn't know the date that the OP purchased the ticket. They will use the gate price on the day that the OP upgrades the ticket.

Be sure you know the exact cost of the difference before going in to upgrade. We have done it twice and both times they tried to charge us for AP cost minus what Parksavers/Undercover Tourist paid for the tickets. First time we did it was at MK and they really gave us a hard time. The 2nd time was at GR at Disney Springs and she gave the cost and I just politely said that I don't think that is right and she corrected the cost and was on our way in just a few minutes.

They won't give credit. Either take your chances or just buy it at the non ap price.

Thankfully, the whole idea of bridging is that they bridge the cost of what you paid TO the current gate price and then do the math. :)

WDW wouldn't know the date that the OP purchased the ticket.

Sure they do. It's not supposed to matter though.

They know all sorts of stuff. And sadly some cms just didn't pay attention during training to understand the steps.

I can see how they would know the date on which Parksavers/Expedia purchased the ticket from WDW, but how would they know when Parksavers sold the ticket to the ticket holder?

Last year the only AP discounted MVMCP in December was December 1.

Last year the only AP discounted MVMCP in December was December 1.

That was the day we went.

The current price difference between what I paid for the Park Savers ticket and if I upgraded to the AP would be roughly $229, after I subtract what I would pay for Memory Maker. The difference between current gate price and AP, after Memory Maker is subtracted is $181. If I was able to get discounted MVMCP tickets then I would definitely come out ahead. If all I got was food and merchandise discounts, I would probably be a little behind. If I end up booking a room with an AP discount, then I should be back ahead again.

Woah I've been following these threads, because we are upgrading in November. I did not know you could get an AP resort discount before you have the AP. How does that work??

You can call to book with the AP discount before you purchase the AP. After you purchase, you'll be able to view and book passholder rates online.
