I saw somewhere that you can have a "bridal tea party" something-or-other at Disney. Does anybody know any info on this, or has anyone done one? TIA.

I'm not 100% sure what you're referring to, but I'll tell you the first thing that came to my mind.

I treated my bridesmaids to a tea party thank-you at the Garden View Tea Room at the Grand Floridian a few days before my Disney Wedding. This was pretty easy to set up. I called as early as I could and told them that I wanted to book a table for X (I think I had six of us total?) and what date and time I wanted. They do have some rules about celebrations, since it's a family place and pretty open, but it's not really anything deal-breaking. I think they ask that you do gift-giving outside of the restaurant (the lobby is equally pretty, though!) and that if you want to have a special cake or something that you order it at least two days in advance. I told them that I was getting married and I was with my bridesmaids, and they even gave us each a rose! They were discreet about the check, too. No one hurried us or pressured us. They were very kind and even offered to take group pictures and turned a blind eye when we got a little silly posing with teacups with flowers between our teeth. A fantastic all-around experience.

I hope this helps some! This is the only adult "tea party" experience I can really think of. As with all Disney experiences, it helps if you tell them what you're celebrating when you book, and ask if there are any extra things you can add on to make it more special.

This does make sense. Thank you.

You can also arrange a private tea party in one of the convention center rooms. You would just have to have your planner or sales consultant reserve the room on the date you want and you would have to meet the food and beverage minimums, I think the lowest is $500 for Key West room.

There are definitely a few brides that have had a tea party, a few in Gardenview tea room and a few that had private parties, so it just depends on what you have in mind and your budget ;).

I had a tea at the garden view tea room last monday for 15 ladies as a thank you for attending our VR. It was wonderful- everyone either had the Buckingham palace tea or mrs potts tea for the younger ladies. we were all sat at three close by tables and were able to socialize/chat, the wait staff was wonderful and so was the food/tea! It was a very unique experience for many of the ladies and they all enjoyed it. several wore sun hats and dresses! It was easy to schedule and fun!:goodvibes

Thanks everybody! :goodvibes I'll have to check in to this...it sounds like a lot of fun!

My sister did this too, it was so much fun! We all wore dresses hats and gloves :goodvibes it was so sweet. The lady actually gave my little cousin her apple juice from a tea pot so that she was included. And it was suprisingly filling!

the strawberries and cream were SOOOO yummy ::yes::

My daughter had her bridal shower at the Gardenview Tea Room at the Grand Floridian and it was wonderful!!! we had tea and all kinds of little sandwiches and pastries. We couldn't open her presents in the tea room but in thelobby part of the hotel was where we did it. I guess there are other people in the tearoom at the same time and it would have been very chaotic there I guess that is what we were told but everything turned out great!!! I even had arranged with Disney photography to have a photographer take a group picture of all of us on the grand staircase, there were about 24 of us and I am so glad that I did that.

Here are a couple of pics from my ladies tea at the GF last week.....:goodvibes
ladies bridal tea at the garden view tea room at 2:00. I had 15 guests- (disregard date on pic camera was set wrong).....Several ladies wore dresses and hats, just for fun and my quasi mary poppins theme…..it was fun to get dressed up. A couple ladies on the buses asked and so our story was retold several times along the way…..
Once at the GF, we were seated at three tables( all close to each other) everyone got to order their choice of tea and then either the Buckingham palace tea or Mrs Potts tea. Everyone seemed to have a good time and enjoyed the food, esp the desserts. Each got to choose either strawberries and cream, or 2 pastries from the tray……

Thanks for sharing the pics! That looks like so much fun!

It was! ts a unique experience that is just fun. many of my guests don't normally drink tea but they all tried the tea and most shared the different flavors. the desserts were wonderful! Its was something most of my guests had never done or even really knew about. my mom kept saying she never knew there were places like that....:goodvibes

Hey guys, I am bumping this thread in hopes that someone can answer this question...

I want to have a bridal tea party at the Grand Floridian Tea Room. I'm thinking there will be about 20 guests, but am not completely sure of the number. So here are my questions:

1. Would I be able to book the table for 20 and then change it to a smaller number later if people cannot attend (I am a semi-local because I only live an hour and a half away, so I am not sure if my bridesmaids and family will take off work on Friday... or if they can take a half a day so that I can do a late seating), or is there a different cancellation policy?

2. What is the latest seating?

3. Do they give you a pre set menu?

Thanks for all your help!

1) 20 guests is a lot of people. Keep in mind that the space of the Tea Room is quite small and that it tends to be comprised of many smaller tables to accommodate guests. You might want to call and ask them personally if they can find room for 20 of you to sit together, otherwise you might arrive and have to be broken up.

However, I do know that they do NOT require you to pay in advance, so if someone can't come at the last minute, it shouldn't be much of a hassle on your end.

2) I believe the latest seating is somewhere around 4:30 or 5 PM. DH and I caught a 4:30 reservation and left as they were closing up, but I believe some people came in after us and some definitely stayed later. Be warned, though, that since they make their treats fresh each day, they may run out of things as the day winds down depending on demand.

3) I'm not sure what you mean by "pre set" but they do have some combinations that include tea, sandwiches, scones... that kind of thing. Or you can order a la carte. The DIS site is great about the menu and the prices are fairly accurate.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your help! With pre set menu, I thought I had read somewhere that if you had that many people, you had to get a certain menu for each of them.

I haven't heard about that about pre-set menus. Not to say it isn't true, but it doesn't really fit with what I know about the Garden View Tea in particular. Maybe that's something you have to do for other ressies, or for private parties? :confused3

Thanks! I have read a few different things around, and I know a lot of the information that I have read about things is outdated... thanks for everyone's help!
