I have read some horrible stories about bridal shops on these boards but I think mine takes the biscuit for sure.

To start the story off, I had been warned about the lady I purchased my dress from by other bridal shops and past customers etc but I thought it was just some soar grapes but now the one thing I would say to anyone buying a dress is GO ON RECCOMENDATION!!!

I have to say up till today the lady had been so sweet, ok I caught her out telling porky pies (lies) a few times but thought nothing of it...

I was all happily booked in for my final fitting on Aug 23rd so thought that is fine I will pay the final half of the bill then.
I got a call yesterday demanding £1250 ($2300) for the final fee (she has already had £2000 ($3800) off of me so she knows I am not going to not collect the dress) She said the guy that had made by corset will not send it unless I pay in full.....Oh I said I can not pay you now I am at work without cards etc. I will call you tomorrow she said that would be fine.
I went home last night and looked at the finances, due to not being paid till end of aug I was going to have to pay on Credit card and needed to do balance transfer so I got 0%. I could not pay out of bank as I have got two wedding to pay for this month so all of our money is spoken for, as I am sure you can imagine.

Anyway I called back today and let her know that I would be able to pay next week. Well she lost the plot. I can honestly say that in my 29 years NO ONE has ever been so horrible to me. I wont bore you with the conversation but the outcome was I will not see you on Saturdays anymore (she knows I have no holiday left to take from work) and if you are not here by 3.30pm next Thursday you have lost your dress and deposit, simple as that.
As you can imagine I was trembling half anger and half fear. The guys in my office were shocked to the core. (What’s worse is her niece’s partner works with me!!). We went straight on to the web to see if the company was going bust, as her behaviour was so irrational but no details. Not one of the stories she has told me adds up, she contradicts her self all the time.
So next I call my mum who lives in Malta (small island south of Sicily, I live in England). Well she is now livid. So the long shot is she is flying over on Friday and will give me the money till my card clears, few.

Now I have to call her back. Now I would say I am a lady with balls (or ice queen - it seems i never cry, i just feel i am a calm person :rotfl: ) I have to be in my industry but this lady was so horrible to me that I was scared to call her – can you imagine. So I called and she is all 'hi babe are you alright sweetie' is this woman derranged:scared1:

So anyway I am going in next Tuesday to get my dress and fingers crossed I never have to see her again.

Sorry for the rant but I just needed to get things off of my chest and more importantly warn other brides. If you hear bad reviews on anything to do with your wedding - STAY AWAY
I was told this but ignored the advice and look the stress it has caused it untrue. I was so looking forward to my final fitting and trying everything on but now I just want to get in and out. It has ruined everything for me :guilty:

That woman is a witch lol!!!!!!!!!!!! I would be uncomfortable around her...at leaast it is your last fitting.

Ugh what is wrong with these bridal shop people! They are so rude all the time! For people that work in the business of taking care of women for the happiest day of their lives they sure are miserable. I told a friend of mine I want to open up a bridal shop and actually be NICE to the brides!!

Sorry for your experience and whenever you need to vent, we are always here!

 i'm so sorry to hear about your situation. that lady has some serious issues she needs to sort out. here's some pixie dust that everything goes well!:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

That is just horrible. She sounds bi polar or something... very strange!! At least its your last fitting and you wont have to deal with her ever again! Good luck!

I'm so sorry you have to go through that! It's unacceptable that she has taken the enjoyment out of it for you. They should not let that woman work there! Good luck with your last fitting! :)

I know Toni!!!!! It's hard to find a nice brial salon where you can get good service!

Thank you so much everyone :grouphug:

As for the bi polar that was the first thing the guy at the next desk said to me after second phone call.

I am just hoping my Mum is calm when she goes in :rotfl:

That is terrible what that woman put you through!! I am so glad you are having your final fitting and never have to see her again! Here's some pixiedust: for you next Tuesday!

WHAT A FREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you need to fight back & file ALL sorts of complaints & grievances!!!

dont let her do this to another bride...TAKE HER DOWN!!!!!!!!!!

i would be contacting
your towns village hall
your BBB/Attorney general or equivalant to what you have over the pond
the dress makers
small claims court(if it comes down to that)
& local news or papers....they LOVE stuff like this

Iwould be on the war path & give her what she deserves

I agree with Cori, but most importantly, let your mom give her the attitude she deserves, if necessary...don't go back to her alone...if fact, don't say another word to her alone...she is a psycho!...hope it goes better for you on Saturday!!!

Where's Summer-Caitlin when we need her? Isn't she a laywer in Scotland now? She went to court over a problem with her wedding dress and won! She would totally take this broad down... :rotfl:

I'm sorry this is turning into such a disaster for you! Hopefully you'll never see her again!

UK wedding shops don't seem to be as friendly as the American ones. I saw the dress i wanted and wanted to try in on before i brought it. I rang about 10 shops and they all seemed 'put out' at me asking what size and price their dresses where. I didn't want to try on a dress that was 3 or 4 sizes larger than i am.

When i eventually got what i thought was a decent shop the lady tried pressuring me into buy the dress. I went there on my own as my mum didn't want to come and my sister was on a school trip. I asked her to take a picture so that i could see the back and show my sister but she was really funny about me doing this.

In the end i brought the dress from an over helpful American shop and had it shipped over. I couldn't have had better service
Did anyone else have problems with taking pictures in the bride shop?

I think that you should wait till you have your dress in your hand and then let your mum loose. :rotfl: A least then your have your dress and that women defiantly deserves it. I would also tell your local newspaper. Least the bad publicity will warn future brides :thumbsup2

I am in the US and 2 out of the 3 wedding shops I have tried on in, wouldn't let me take pics. In the one that would, I think it was just the sales lady. Everytime the owner came in, I couldn't take pics. I think it is standard as they don't want you finding the dress you want somewhere else cheaper.

Sorry the OP had to deal with that. I have pretty much hated all the bridal stores I have been in, except that one sales lady that let me take pics. She was down to earth. Everywhere else has been high pressure sales. :scared1:

It was about 50/50 on being allowed to take photos when I was trying dresses on - I went to about a dozen different shops as I really struggled to find anything I liked.

The attitude I got from some of them was horrendous. A few looked at me as if I was something they'd stepped in. One shop refused to even let me touch the dresses on the racks in case I damaged them. How exactly can I choose a dress when they're wedged together like sardines on the rails and I can't even touch them? The place I eventually bought them, I've had nothing but trouble from since they got my money. They'll be gtting a very harsh letter and negative reviews once I've finished dealing with them!

My bridal shop is brilliant, but it wasn't the first one I tried. When I went to see my dress last week I turned up without an appointment and as it was quiet they devoted their entire time to me. I tried the dress on and they bought out all the accessories and draped them over me to see what looked best.

They both said that my own necklace looked better than anything they had in the shop, and my shoes too.

It's such a shame people have to go through this %$&! with bridal shops.

I wold get your dress, make sure it is fine and then let rip!!
