Brick for charging

Does anyone happen to know what size charging 'brick' (Apple) is appropriate to use to charge my MB+ using a standard outlet?

I know can plug it into a power strip with USB ports, but what do you do if all you have are regular outlets?

I tried using a USB-A to USB-C adapter to charge it using my MacBook but for some reason it never started charging.

I believe I have used the standard brick which came with my iPhone.

I have the 5 watt and the 12 watt Apple bricks, and use whichever one isn’t being used to charge something else. Since I charge overnight either one does the job.
