We are just happy she (SIL, 48 and a wonderful person/mom/DVC member)has the surgery done and the tests are showing nothing remaining but she does need to start Chemo July 24 or maybe July 31. That said we have a dedicated 2BR and Studio at BCV for Aug 6-11, we will need to use about 1/2 the points by this fall which we cant do since Chemo is 16 weeks. Need advice on the rent board-can we post a trade for July or just rent these as its own post and then post a ressie wanted for July? Any idea what the odds are for anything either the second or 3rd week of July? Thanks for any support or advice.

call member service first and see what they can do - they have pulled off miracles before... tell them the problem.

I take it you want to go before she starts on chemo.

hope everything works for you and your family.

No advice, but just support. You will all be in my prayers. It seems like planning trips at this time can be tricky but all so important.Good Luck!

Our son had surgery for a brain tumor when he was almost 6 (5/2001) and we took him on our 1st ever DVC trip in June, 2001, right before his radiation/chemo started (and just weeks after his surgery). It was our best trip ever. We pray for the best for your SIL. Keep up posted.

In my prayers,
Lissa

Can't offer help, but want to give you some :tinker: pixie dust and a bunch of :grouphug:

I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer last June, had surgery in June, radiation and mediport pacement in early July and my first Chemo July 18. Started to lose my hair 14 days later so shaved my head and left on a Disney vacation 2 days later. my oncologist and surgeon both gave their blessings. I have to say I tired easily but spent a lot of time bobbing in the pool with a ball cap and plenty of sunscreen. Did not have to worry about shampoo and had a good time. Left from Disney to go on a Bahmas cruise for 4 days. Would I do it again? ABSOLUTELY!! I refused to be sick with cancer and therefore did very well. Even went back to work when we came home. Good luck, it could always be worse. How lucky is she to have caught it and to have such a good prognosis. :sunny: :teeth:

My sister worked the whole time she was getting chemo after her breast cancer. She missed a few days when the chemo was really bad, but not many.

I don't blame you for wanting to reschedule the vacation but it may not be impossible for her to go anyway, even after having started chemo. Talk to the oncologist for advice.

Good luck!

:grouphug: To you and your family!

Last summer I went with my BF in the middle of her chemo treatments. I think WDW was better medicine than the treatment.

Prayers to you and your family, and wishes for a healthy, happy WDW trip in your future.

My prayers for the successful treatment and speedy recovery of your SIL. :grouphug: I hope your vacation plans work out as well and that before you know it you'll be celebrating her victory over cancer in WDW.

My DSis (32) was invited on a cruise back in Dec for Apr. Friends were renewing their wedding vows on the Magic. She wanted to do a few days in WDW both before and after the Magic. I gave her the points. Then in Feb she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The drs gave the OK. She left a few days after her 2nd chemo treatment and got back before the next one. She was tired, and they took things slowly. She is very happy that she went and had a great time. She is always joking about everytime she goes to WDW she can't do everything she wants to. The last 2 times she was pregnant and this time she was too tired from the chemo. She is doing very well. Her prognosis is good. She has an excellent attitude. She will be done with all of her treatments around the end of Aug. I am looking foreward to taking her for a girl's trip when things calm down a bit.
