Breaking up initial direct contract

I like having small contracts. That way I can sell them off easily if I choose and give them in my will more easily than one huge contract. As long as they are in the same use year it is easy to use the points in multiple contracts at the same resort for a reservation. My largest contract is 150 at BRV and I have a bunch of smaller ones ranging from 40 to 75 points at other resorts.

Understood but even back then one of the contracts had to b the size of the minimum requirement which was lower at that time.

Way back in 1997 when the minimum buyin was 160 points, we had our 300 BWV points split into two 150-point contracts at the suggestion of the guide (because we have two kids, so each child could inherit one contract). New members having to buy a minimum of 150 points in a single contract is definitely a recent requirement.

no, that is not true. Back when I was looking, if you were new to dvc and were making your purchase direct from disney, the minimum amount of points you could purchase was 160. My first purchase was 160 direct from disney. I had them put 100 on one contract and 60 on another contract. I learned here on the Dis that i could ask the guide to do this.

no, that is not true. Back when I was looking, if you were new to dvc and were making your purchase direct from disney, the minimum amount of points you could purchase was 160. My first purchase was 160 direct from disney. I had them put 100 on one contract and 60 on another contract. I learned here on the Dis that i could ask the guide to do this.

I bought direct in 2018 for my first contract and they let me buy only 50 points. I think the minimum for a blue card was 100 points at the time? I added on, of course, but it wasn’t that long ago that we could start with a small direct contract.
