BREAKING NEWS on CNN: Monorail Accident Kills One IN WDW

The collision was actually at the Ticket and Transportation Center.

Very sad and very lucky the monorails did not have more guests on them.

From the picture on CNN, it looks like Monorail Blue (or purple) slammed into Monorail Red.

Sad news.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family who lost their loved one. :guilty:

Call me! They always have 'experts' on! This CNN bozo is saying that red monorails serve the resorts and blue ones serve Epcot. He said it was late and that there were things going on at that hour.....like Spectromagic at Downtown Disney. :sad2:

They did read the statement from the company confirming that a monorail driver was lost in the accident. Very sad.

The picture came into CNN from an I-reporter and they've gone to commercial. They'll have an update soon, so tune in to see.

Oh - I just saw the picture. How horrible.

It does look like there are people inside. :sad2:

I have to wonder how this could happen.

Thanks, turning it on now (thought it was on their webpage.) :thumbsup2:)

I'm in Orlando right now and they are showing the pictures on the local news. It looks terrible. They are saying that 5 or 6 guests were on the monorail but they aren't believed to be seriously injured.

I am guessing that they won't be able to run the monorails today. Even after they finish the investigation (and I don't know how long that would take), it looks like it will be difficult to clear the trains out of the TTC.

I would imagine all trains will be suspended for an investigation and the boats will be crowded.

The purple train hit the pink train from behind.

A former cast member was interviewed on local6 news. She used to train cast members on how to operate the trains. She stated that every move is monitored and that there had to have been a lack of communication detween the control center and the driver for this to happen.
The driver was killed in the collision and torches were used to release the body from that section of the train.

There were 7 park guests on the train, 5 of which were looked at for possible injuries.

Disney will release more info later tis morning.

The pictures I saw were on Local 6 News in Orlando. They don't appear to be on the clickorlando.com site yet, though. (That's what I get when I google local 6, so I assume that's their site.)

Thanks for the update. I figured the local news would be on it. The rear-ended train didn't look pink, but it was dark.
