Breakfast the morning we leave WDW

I'm having a hard time deciding what to do the morning we leave. Last time, we went to Boma because I liked the idea of having a big meal before we left instead of airport food court food all day. We took my parents and my husbands parents though and they did not like taking the AK bus and then the AKL bus. We never really do TS breakfast though so I still like the idea. This time it's just my husband and I. We are staying at CSR. Should we just eat at Maya Grill to keep it simple? Is there a good breakfast place at DTD? Or should we just not worry about taking 2 buses and do one of the resort places?

I think you should do whatever you want. I don't mind taking the different buses myself but some could see that as a hassle. I have had breakfast at Maya Grill and its good but if your wanting a buffet then you should go for it.

Unless you or your husband has a big issue with taking the busses, I'd go for a nice, big, relaxing breakfast the last morning so long as you have time. We also did Boma for our final morning this year (stayed at CBR). We had lots of time before ME and it wasn't like we had anyplace else to be, not going back to a park that morning, so why not?

Pick someplace you haven't been before and use the extra time to explore the resort, too. Or if you have been to WDW many times, pick a fave - even if that means Chef Mickey. Don't be afraid of character breakfasts just for adults. 1900PF and Cape May breakfasts are both excellent ways to end a trip. For 1900 PF you can take the bus from CR to the MK, then monorail or boat launch to GF. For Cape May, take the bus to DHS and then boat to BC/YC (OK, or you can walk, but by the end of the trip my feet are so sore I'm not walking ANYWHERE I don't have to ;) ).

I love Wolfgang Puck Express for breakfast (well, for any meal really ;)) they have a great variety and the food is always delicious. It's not TS, but it's great quality for CS. You line up to order your food and take your beverages and they bring it to your table when it's ready. Your server also takes care of drink refills.

One of our favourite TS for breakfast is Kona Cafe in the Poly. It's a lot easier to get to than Boma and the food is very, very good. They serve Tonga Toast there, which is wayyy too sweet for me but seems to be very popular with many Dis'ers. Good luck with your decision!

You could alwways stick to MK area resorts or Epcot area resorts, as neither require 2 buses...but they do require 2 types of transportation. Here are your options, broken down by character and non-character:

Character:
1. 1900 Park Fare (Grand Floridian) (buffet)
2. Chef Mickey's (Contemporary) (buffet)
3. Ohana (Polynesian) (family-style)
4. Cape May Cafe (Beach Club) (buffet)

Non-character:
1. Grand Floridian Cafe (Grand Floridian) (menu)
2. Kona Cafe (Polynesian) (menu)
3. The Wave (Contemporary) (buffet option, menu option)
4. Captain's Grille (Yacht Club) (buffet option, menu option)
5. Kouzzina (Boardwalk) (menu)
6. Whispering Canyon Cafe (Wilderness Lodge) (menu, with AYCE skillet option)
7. Trail's End (Ft. Wilderness) (buffet)
8. Restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin Resorts (but they're NOT on the dining plans)

For MK area resorts, you could take the MK bus and then the monorail (Grand Floridian, Contemporary and Polynesian ONLY) or boat (Grand Floridian, Contemporary, Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, Ft. Wilderness)...or you could walk to the Contemporary from MK (about 5 minutes).

For Epcot area resorts, you could take the DHS bus and then either walk or take the boat (one boat for all resorts, including Swan/Dolphin). We stay at Boardwalk, and the walk from DHS to Boardwalk is around 15 minutes (and we have small children with us).

An alternative to taking the buses if you still want to go to Boma - take a taxi. My DD and I did from our hotel since I didn't want to get up too early to take the MK transportation to get to AKL.

My new favorite is Olivia's at OKW. Just take a look a the menu and see if it appeals. Oh my word, the food is so good and the servers are so sweet.

Have fun and enjoy your breakfast.

:)

We just had the buffet breakfast at The Wave in the Contemporary a couple of days ago and were very pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious, included all beverages and reasonably priced. Adults were 18.99 and we used the TIW discount with this. For 2 adults, 2 children, our bill was $60, including the 18%tip.

It was relaxing, quiet, and no wait at all at 8 am with no reservations. At least half of what Chef Mickey's would have been and we got to enjoy an uninterrupted meal. Will definitely do it again!

DH and I - Enjoy TS breakfast, when it's just the 2 of us. We always have a TS breakfast our last day.

I would suggest ( if not going into a park) - Grand Floridan Cafe or Kona - Take bus to MK and ride the monorail to the resort. I did have a friend just recently have breakfast at the Wave and said it was very good, I have not eaten there as of yet, so I can not give my review.

If we decide to do a few hours in one of the parks before leaving, I would suggest MK and Crystal palace, early ressie, there is something about walking down main street, with hardly anyone around for me it's a way to soak up some more magic.

Agreed. We had a fabulous last day breakfast there a couple of years ago. Would have gone again on our last trip except that our flight was at 8:00AM.

My family always has a big TS breakfast before hitting the road. We have done Chef Mickey's and Cape May on our past trips so that the kids can say goodbye to the characters. For our next trip, I am considering:

'Ohana--we have been to breakfast here before and LOVED it, just not on the last day of vacation.

The Wave---the breakfast offerings on the buffet look amazing from the pictures.

Wolfgang Puck Express--no it is not a TS, but breakfast looks yummy and we could do some shopping at DTD before we leave.

Boma--never been here, so it would be something different. It would be fun to explore AKL before leaving.

and of course, Cape May or Chef Mickey's.

Another vote for Olivia's! It's so laid back and quiet compared to the buffets and the food is great. One of the few hidden gems left in WDW... Don't tell anyone!
