Breakfast in France?

I haven't finished reading everything but just have to jump in here!

I *love* reading about these events and yes Janet is my inspiration too although, I won't be planning an event for quite a long time. I already know it will be for my 50th but I have about 10 years (I need that amount of time to save for what I *really* want to do! :lmao:) Trust me, I've been filing away all this information regarding things for when my time comes.

I know I've also been reading Brier Rose's daughter's event.

The breakfast sounds wonderful! I can't wait to hear about everything. :thumbsup2

I would imagine the Event Concept with all of my pricing and the contract would be confidential as most of it pertains to my specific event.

Melanieewr, boy, I certainly hope so. No one except for myself and Disney knows what my events have cost. Not even my husband knows. Sure, I have mentioned pricing in passing to him, but I don't believe he's ever seen anything in writing. And I'm not telling him where that information is stored, either. The less he knows, the better. ;)

I would love to share this with you!

I can't wait to see your menu. The Disney-MGM Studios Catering folks do such a wonderful job with their food. I can still remember how delicious the main entrée was from my "Haunted Mansion" party many moons ago. Yum! Yum! YUM!

I will also post my ideas on some of the changes I would think would be nice. Please feel free to critique when I get it posted!

I can't wait to hear about your changes. And I'll share my thoughts on them. Please take them for what they're worth -- FREE ADVICE. ;)

Your GMR event really does sound just like they have described to me.

It's good to hear that. They really do have the flow of that event down to a science. I'm sure it's been perfected over the years.

Thank you so much for all of you helpful posts and pics. I would have never known all that was possible without you...

I'm glad my words and photos have helped. However, please understand that I could never truly do a Disney event justice. You honestly have to personally experience one to know just how ~magical~ they can be, ~sigh.~

You're a doll...and I don't mean a "bobble head"....see, I do remember that also!

As to being a doll, yes, I still have my family's dolls -- all four of them. They're presently sitting in the bottom of my bedroom closet. Maybe one of these days I'll take them out and play with them again. For now, at least I have a photo of two of them: click here. ;)

Becky2005, uh-oh! Be careful with what you file away in the back of your mind. Take it from me, it can become a very dangerous habit. ;)

Now...here are some of the changes that I think I "might" want to change. Still trying to decide!:cloud9:

I might change out some of the appetizers for the Cali Grill 5 cheese plate and Sushi.

Also...my group would prefer Caesar Salads.

And...I think I would like Filets topped with Bacon Cheddar Sauce or Hollandaise

Would also like to add the Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breast with the Boursin Cheese sauce that someone mentioned here...sounded yummy.

I might also want to switch out the Potato Tarte with Mashed Potatoes instead.

And just how in the world am I supposed to decide between just 3 desserts?!?! AND just 1 Action Station!

Melanieewr, that sounds especially yummy. *Hiccup!*

You should have a menu that you want. Disney only suggests things in order to get the ball rolling. It's up to you to personalize the menu to your liking, which it sounds like you're on track to do. Your changes sound good.

Seafood wasn't served at my event because I am allergic to it. However, my husband loves it so the following two items were on the menu for our cocktail party : House-Cured Salmon with Caviar and Assorted Vegetarian Sushi. My daughter especially loved the vegetarian sushi.

And just how in the world am I supposed to decide between just 3 desserts?!?! AND just 1 Action Station!

Okay, I am not even going to comment because in my book one can never have too many desserts. ;)

I guess that I will not be able to give a trip report on Tamu Tamu as I have "officially" dropped that event. I was a bit undecided anyway, but today's call from Allie made it a definite. There will be 2 other large groups of 1000 in Animal Kingdom that evening! Even though they would not be in the Tamu area, she said we would definitely hear the noise. Not exactly the private evening I envisioned :sad2: She offered to change my Grand 1 evening, but I didn't really want to do that.

Now...here is what we are doing to replace Tamu Tamu. Christie suggested the dessert party and Illuminations viewing. I like this idea as not all of my guests have seen Illuminations. Not so crazy about the dessert theme. I would prefer a small bar with appetizer selections and maybe a couple of sweets! :drinking1 So they are putting together a package with viewing from a small area in the UK that has 3 tables...4 chairs each...perfect for my little group! They offered an area by Morrocco with a venue fee of only $100, but I think the UK area will be nicer...anyone know for sure? I did not ask the venue price for the little UK area BTW...I did ask about sharing information with on pricing. I was told that none of what I have been given is confidential...unless I want it to be. Honestly, you ladies here are so accustomed to seeing what these types of events cost that I don't have a problem sharing that when needed. When it comes time to post my trip report, I will do that on the Trip Report forum and I will not post prices there.

Melanieewr, I’m sorry to hear that, but it sounds like it’s for the best since you were on the fence regarding it.

… the dessert party and Illuminations viewing. I like this idea as not all of my guests have seen Illuminations.

That sounds lovely. The Epcot folks do a wonderful job with their events. I’ve always had fun at the dessert parties that I’ve attended. I’m sure your guests will have a fantastic evening. And a very memorable one, too, since Illuminations is such a moving fireworks show. I get goosebumps just thinking about it.

BTW...I did ask about sharing information with on pricing. I was told that none of what I have been given is confidential...unless I want it to be.

It wasn’t the pricing that I was concerned with, it was the word “concept.”

Certain things have been shared with me in the past by both WDW and DL. On a few occasions I have been asked to keep things confidential. For example, I was asked not to share information about my “Haunted Mansion” Movie Set Dinner Event because Disney wasn’t sure if they were going to offer that event to others. Once they made their determination, I was allowed to talk about it. I mentioned this in my trip report.

So that is why I gave my warning. I didn’t want any confidences accidentally broken between you and Disney. And from what you just said, there weren’t any to break. That is great news.

Melanieewr, have you decided anything further regarding your dinner menu for the GMR? Have you run your changes by your event planner yet?

Melanieewr, one final thought...

On Sunday evening, on the TeleFutura channel, they will be showing a special regarding the celebrity FTW vow renewal that was held in WDW this month (I have a thread regarding this event here on the Weddings Board). The couple had an Illuminations dessert party prior to their American Adventure Rotunda dinner party. I am hopeful that their dessert party will be shown during the special (a glimpse of it was shown during the TV commercial).

If you get the TeleFutura channel where you live, consider checking it out since you are planning an Illuminations dessert party of your own.

my “Haunted Mansion” Movie Set Dinner Event because Disney wasn’t sure if they were going to offer that event to others

Janet; Do you think anyone else ever did "your" dinner? I am guessing the answer is probably NO. The Narnia scene is tempting...mainly because of your HM dinner...;) I think I will ask if I can possibly see the set when I am down in September...for future reference!

Just lead the way Janet...Some of us will follow!

Melanieewr, have you decided anything further regarding your dinner menu for the GMR? Have you run your changes by your event planner yet?

Yes! I have emailed that to them, and they are going over it now. Did they send you an Information Sheet requesting "inside" info on your guests? They asked for it, and I have sent it. Allie said it would help to decide what type of streetmosphere character they would provide for the France Breakfast.

If you get the TeleFutura channel where you live, consider checking it out since you are planning an Illuminations dessert party of your own.

No, I do not get this channel, but I wish I did! I think most of the brides parties are held at the Italy Isola....correct? :confused3 I got the impression that the options that were offered to me are not used often as they are such small areas. I truly cannot remember ever noticing the little spot in the UK.

These are just some samples of the "Invites" that I am working on...still some "tweaking" to do. I think I will be using that word quite often

Janet; Do you think anyone else ever did "your" dinner? I am guessing the answer is probably NO.

Melanieewr, there was at least one FTW bride who had read my trip report and who had seen my photos. She was looking to do something unique for her reception and thought a dinner on the “Haunted Mansion” set would be perfect. And so she contacted her wedding planner and set the ball in motion.

As the bride planned her event, she shared her story. It was fun for me to read about her plans as they unfolded since I knew what a unique venue that was for an event. But then a series of hurricanes hit Florida (Fall of 2004). One of the storms damaged the roof of Soundstage 4 and the movie set had been damaged. Sadly, she had to change her plans and move her event to another location.

So, my guess is that somewhere between the Fall of 2003 and the Fall of 2004, other events were held in that venue. Well, at least that’s my hope because that movie set sure was impressive. Stunning, actually. Especially when the ballroom lights were turned down low (click here) and the (fake) thunder & lightening were raging outside the (fake) windows. It was an eerily romantic place to dine (if such a thing can be said).

Yes! I have emailed that to them, and they are going over it now.

Excellent. I'm sure they'll okay your changes since they appeared to be very reasonable to me.

Did they send you an Information Sheet requesting "inside" info on your guests?

I honestly can't remember. Yikes! (I'm getting old.)

No, I do not get this channel, but I wish I did!

I am planning on watching it on Sunday evening. The show is 90-minutes long. I saw a different commercial for it today. This time they gave a slightly bigger glimpse of the American Adventure Rotunda dinner (I saw a bouquet toss, a garter toss, two different singers serenading the crowd, and a few other things). But what they showed of the Illuminations dessert party was still not very detailed. Arg! I am craving information. I hope I get some on Sunday night.

I think most of the brides parties are held at the Italy Isola....correct?

No, not really. The Italy Isola is normally set aside for the larger events since the area can accommodate a larger crowd. I have seen some lovely photos of that area beautifully decorated, too. I have actually been helping one of my dear friends plan a future vow renewal. If she goes through with her plans (her vow renewal is a year or two off), she's hoping to hold a part of it on the Italy Isola. My fingers are crossed that she will. As to the rest of her plans, well, my lips are sealed. But her plans are something that a Cast Member proposed to me last year. Now that my friend might be doing it, I'm going to have to come up with something else for myself. And thus my quest for information continues (it appears to be a never-ending quest). ;)

I truly cannot remember ever noticing the little spot in the UK.

The UK area is very nice. I saw at least one dessert party held on the lower terrace during my vacation last summer. Everyone appeared to be having a great time. I'm sure your event will be lovely (and your desserts delicious).

These are just some samples of the "Invites" that I am working on...still some "tweaking" to do.

Your invites are very fun. I love the play on words. I know your guests are going to be blown away by all of your plans. (I know that I am.) Please continue to share your "tweaking." It's fun for me to watch your plans unfold.

Just wanted to check in and see how your plans are going! Your events are coming up soon!! You must be so excited. Hope everything is going according to plan! :goodvibes
