Hey everyone,

We are staying in the Epcot resort area (Beach Club to be exact) for the first time and were thinking of doing a character breakfast locally one morning before going to the park. I know it may be hard to compare since there are different characters, one is a buffet and one is a sit down, etc., but just taking everything into consideration, what do you all think? If you have done only one, what did you think? If you have done both, which was your favorite?

Cheers!

I would try Bon Voyage. We have done Cape May several times and it is good but I hear great things about Bon Voyage and you can see unique characters there that aren't at other character meals (Cape May has Fab 5 and you can see them/or a combination of them at several other character meals).

We did Bon Voyage in November and really enjoyed it. I dont know much about your group but we have a 2.5 yo princess and she LOVED meeting the characters.

We are doing Tusker House to that week so that is one thing that has me leaning towards bon voyage.

It will be me, DW, DS(1.5), and both sets of grand parents, so I know the characters may not be as recognizable to him as the Fab5 would be at Cape May but with Tusker House later that week, it might be good to mix it up regardless.

We did both last year (also stayed at Beach Club) and all of us 100% preferred Cape May. It's the best breakfast we've had on property. We loved the wide variety at Cape May and the food was delicious. The characters were excellent at Bon Voyage (my two young daughters loved meeting Flynn Ryder), but our meals were just mediocre. I know we seem to be in the minority of people who didn't enjoy our meals there, so YMMV. It was a one and done for us. We are staying at Beach Club again next month and Cape May was a must-do on everyone's list. My parents like it so much they're doing it twice !

Very, interesting! The Bon Voyage food sounds so different and delicious compared to the standard character meal food, but maybe not? Hmmmm...

I've done both and enjoyed both equally. I think you'll have to decide which characters you want more. I do like not having to get up to get food, so that's a plus with Bon Voyage.

Part of why we weren't huge fans of Bon Voyage was a lot of the food was so incredibly rich and heavy for 9:00am...- steak, pizza calzones, etc.....we definitely didn't feel like bopping around the parks after that. My eggs were also very rubbery and the pancakes dry. But we also had a really cranky server (told us about 5 times that we were the only thing standing in the way between her and her week long vacation..) so that might have affected our experience as well. It does seem to get great reviews normally, which was why I was so surprised we didn't enjoy it as much as I thought we would. We are typically pretty easy people to please. I wouldn't dissuade someone who wanted to try it as maybe we just had an off day... I just wouldn't be back myself.

It will be our meal before Epcot and "adulting" around the world so a hearty breakfast might be in order haha!

They are our two favorite breakfasts! You really can't go wrong either way, so I would base it on which characters you would rather see. Bon Voyage is more unique in that aspect, you can't meet Flynn & Prince Eric anywhere else!

If you are already doing Tusker House I would definitely opt for Bon Voyage. Tusker House has the same characters as Cape May, they are just dressed in safari gear vs. beach gear. I feel like multiple buffets in a week (especially with the same characters), gets a little stale. Bon Voyage will offer a bit of a different experience.

We are doing Tusker House to that week so that is one thing that has me leaning towards bon voyage.

We did both last year while staying at Beach Club. We liked the Bon Voyage so much better. We both had the steak and eggs, but our breakfast was later in the morning, more like an early lunch. We are repeating it again this year while we’re at the Dolphin, but not Cape May.

We have done both and my daughter at least prefers Bon Voyage of course even at 18 she had to meet Flynn Rider and Rapunzel. But they really bend over trying to help you. When we went this past June they mad a minor mistake on our ADR (number of people and time). Well they got it figured out in less than 5 minutes and tried to feed us for free. I had to argue a bit with them to get them to charge our meal plan.

Our breakfast day Flynn was not there and I expressed my disappointment they told me to hang on to my receipt and we could come back the next morning to see him. It was so nice and he was out to see us in 5 minutes! They really are great there!

At 9 AM? What was the point of coming to work for what sounds like two hours or less? Did she really not have any other tables?

Bon voyage hands down.

Cape may was enjoyable, and the food fresh. But, not that much different than any other breakfast buffet. Biggest plus, for us, compared to the other breakfast buffets, is the restaurant isn't nearly as crowded or hectic as most of the others.

Bon Voyage is table service, which is much more relaxed, and you don't have to worry about being at the buffet when the characters are coming. Menu is unique, you won't get these breakfast options anywhere else.

The food is heavy, so I can see the issue if going there at the crack of dawn before a long day in the park. But, I wouldn't want an AYCE buffet at the crack of dawn before a long day in the park, either.
