Breakfast at the Wave...of American Flavors

Has anyone eaten breakfast here yet? We just made a last minute reservation for next Tuesday morning. I did a quick Google search and the Disney site says that there's a buffet as well as an a la carte menu. Anyone tried those yet?

Also, does anyone know if they might have Mickey waffles there? My boyfriend and I are on the hunt for those

NOTE: This is a new location for a breakfast buffet. The
buffet has significantly increased its variety, and now is
very much worth the visit. At just under $20 per adult, it
is extremely reasonable for a WDW buffet. For breakfast, it
is probably the best-kept dining secret. It has Mickey
waffles and delicious sweet potato pancakes. They use
local fresh fruit and vegetables. For those with a smaller
appetite, one can do the usual ala carte breakfast menu.

We just did the buffet last month and it was very good. I enjoyed best the Key Lime Eggs Benedict (sounds a little weird, but very good) and the Cheese Grits they had were excellent. There were Mickey waffles, salmon, pastries, various types of eggs and meats. It was really very nice. Good coffee in a press pot too, if you're willing to spring for that!

I went to Wave a week ago for breakfast because of the Sweet Potato Pancakes. Boatwrights used to serve them, but then they stopped doing breakfast so when I saw them on the Wave menu I had to go there.

They are served with pecan honey butter and are absolutely as delicious as Boatwright's were. It's the same recipe.

Most people were getting the buffet while I was there but next time I'm at Disney I will go there again for the sweet potato pancakes.

I heard on a podcast (Be Our Guest podcast) that their Mickey waffles are made of buckwheat, which I would find interesting (but I know not everyone would). I don't remember if she said whether they also served the regular ones or not. I think these were on the buffet. I have an ADR for our upcoming trip, but that's not until October! You'll have to come back and post how your experience was.

This is all good news! We have ressies in October and my husband is not a huge breakfast guy, but a buffet does tempt!

We ate there twice last week. First time, had the buffet - excellent! The sweet potato pancakes and Mickey waffles were on the buffet too, but the waffles are not the traditional ones. Multigrain or something. I'm not a grits eater, but the cheese grits were wonderful! Lots of other great offerings on the buffet as well, plus your beverage, for $18.49 which I think is quite reasonable by Disney standards.
Went back on our last morning and had menu items - the multigrain french toast (great!) and DH had the spinach, feta cheese and tomato scrambled eggs which he said was very good. We're also pretty picky about our coffee and thought theirs was quite good.

Did they also have the pecan honey butter available at the buffet? The sweet poato pancakes wouldn't be as good without it. That would make the buffet tempting.

Since I'm staying off site and the place I'm staying in has free breakfast, the Wave will be my one special trip for breakfast.

Great, that sounds delicious! I'm trying to eat a bit better myself, so I'm down for the multigrain or buckwheat waffles, I'm sure they're delicious anyways

I'm from Massachusetts so we definitely don't have grits around here but I'll probably give them a shot anyways. And mmm, multigrain french toast, sounds fantastic! I'm really glad we found such a short notice ADR for this place!!

I went during the week without an ADR and had no trouble getting a table. All the craziness is upstairs at Chef Mickey's, the Wave is tucked away on the ground floor.

Buffet service is fairly new. I ate there a few months ago and the meal was at the 'high end' of hotel quality. My wife is a bit 'crunchy' and enjoyed the organic coffee....with her bacon.....
