Breakfast at Steakhouse '71 or Grand Floridian Cafe/somewhere else?

We have a 2 week WDW trip coming up in January, the second week is at POLY. So, we are doing quite a bit of dining on our trip. And, it's my husband's first WDW trip, so I am planning on showing him a bunch of different resorts and as many experiences as possible.

I already have dinner at Steakhouse '71 and breakfast at Kona & O'Hana on our plans. But now I'm looking for a special breakfast on our last day, preferably somewhere on the monorail, but I'm torn.

The menu at Steakhouse '71 looks DELICOUS for breakfast, but we'll already be eating there and using that time to explore the Contemporary. So, I was leaning towards Grand Floridian Café as I was hoping to show my husband that resort as well. But, the menu doesn't look as great.

We could also maybe grab breakfast at Epcot (we're already doing Cinderella's Royal Table another day).

What would you do? Where would you go? Any other fun suggestions?

Thanks everyone!

I love the Grand Floridian Cafe for breakfast! We're getting to WDW tomorrow and I'm a little sad that I don't have room in our plans for it, but I really wanted to try Steakhouse 71, especially because we're staying at Bay Lake Towers. We also have Whispering Canyon Cafe for breakfast and that's always fun and good! I know it's not on the monorail, but it's worth it!

I always forget about heading to the Wilderness Lodge, that's such a beautiful resort! Are their breakfasts done in a similar fashion to their dinners at Whispering Canyon?

We feel the best breakfast buffet is Boma at AKL.

We are actually spending 1 night at AKL between our Universal days and heading home. Boma is a "must do" on my list! I've never eaten there but I've heard so many good things!

We did breakfast at Grand Floridian Cafe a couple weeks ago for the first time and it was excellent. My DH had the steak and eggs, and by Disney standards, it was a bargain. It is $20 for a good sized sirloin steak, eggs and cheesy hashbrown casserole. I had the French Toast with bacon and it was really good too.

GF Cafe is a favorite of ours! I much prefer it over Steakhouse 71, personally. Whispering Canyon is another favorite.

Sounds like it's Grand Floridian Cafe for the win! I was hoping to hear that the food was good there, I really want an excuse to show DH my fave resort. Thank you everyone!

Yes! You can order a skillet with a little of everything but they also have a la cart options as weel for breakfast!

We ate at GF Cafe for breakfast during our trip in October and, unfortunately, I was not impressed. The menu has been significantly reduced and the food was just ok. I would definitely try to get Whispering Canyon in the mix. Maybe consider stopping at Enchanted Rose at GF for a drink on the way to Steakhouse 71 dinner so you get to see GF? Enchanted Rose is gorgeous. You could also stop in the lounge at Citricos for a drink on the way to Steakhouse 71.

I was planning on checking out the Enchanted Rose by myself, DH doesn’t really like cocktails. But I’m sure he’d join me for one on the way to dinner! I have been dying to get the special drinks there since it opened!

We're locals and ate breakfast at Whispering Canyon just yesterday. They're now doing a "brunch" menu from opening until mid afternoon and offer 2 skillet choices - the regular dinner one and a breakfast one (mini-Mickey waffles, eggs, breakfast potatoes, cheddar biscuits, sausage, bacon). We prefer the a la carte; our favorites are Mickey waffles, ham and cheese omelet, and oatmeal (comes with an apple muffin, pineapple, and berries); you can also get the burger, turkey sandwich, pulled pork, and a couple of other items. We also like Grand Floridian Cafe (they have a really good non-alcoholic raspberry colada), but our experience there has generally been slow service (but the food is good). Hard choice!

We really enjoyed our breakfast at Steakhouse 71 last weekend. I'd go back there in a second!

My conclusion is that I need to add another week to our trip so I can fit in all these yummy dishes! 😂

We visited in October and I am currently in the process of writing and posting our trip report...

In what I posted thus far, the Steakhouse 71 breakfast was a winner and I also concur with the greatness of the Boma breakfast. But, if I may throw an alternative out there...Trattoria al Forno at the Boardwalk Resort. It was an amazing breakfast. Check out my report for descriptions, comments, and some images.

Have a great time!

We did breakfast at Grand Floridian Cafe earlier this year and loved it. The food was delicious! We haven't eaten at Steakhouse '71 yet so I can't comment on that one.

I've always wanted to try Trattoria al Forno but I always forget about it. I'll definitely take a look! Thanks for the link of your trip report, can't wait to read it!

Lot's of votes for both now! It's going to be a tough call!

But, we're hoping they'll open the AP sales back up in January so we can upgrade. If we can, we will be taking another shorter trip later in the year, so maybe we'll be able to try both!
