We are going to be at Poly for 3 nights. I would like to try to eat breakfast or lunch at Kona. Do we need PS to eat here???thanks..amy

I was also wondering too. I called and made a PS just in case. Half our trip will include Presidents Weekend so to be on the safe side I made PS's.

It's always wise to be safe.
When Tony's went bye-bye, we switched our MK breakfast spot to Kona. We've done breakfast there the last 5 trips. Never made PS and never waited more than a few minutes. Should add that we get there around 8:30 AM and it is almost always "crowded". Sometimes you'll see a sea of people and think "Oh No!!. But then you discover lots of them are waiting around for O'hana's, or just assembling for the walk to the momorail nearby. It's kind of a crowded area, generally.

We enjoyed a breakfast and dinner at the Kona Cafe on our Sept trip and had PS Ressies for both. The crowds were really light, but it seemed like a safe bet.

Breakfast was a bit more crowded.
Enjoy!

Get the Tonga Toast. This dish is a staple on all of my WDW visits (going back 20 years now). This item is so popular that in all the previous incarnations of Kona (and there have been a few) this item has been the one constant on the menu.

For the record, it is a cinnamon encrusted french toast thing, but that description doesn't do it justice.

Enjoy!

We ate there recently and made a PS. It is a popular restaurant so I would recommend a PS. The tonga toast is great!

We stayed at the Poly 4 nights this last Dec. We ate breakfast 3 times at the Kona and all thimes we just walked up and were seated. I do not remember it being that crowded. Maybe we were just lucky but in the past we have stayed at the poly and never made PS for breakfast at Kona and have been seated in a few minutes each time..smjj

We stayed at the Poly for a week last fall. During our first breakfast at the Kona Cafe, my hubby announced that we had to have breakfast there every morning--the Kona Coffee Press Pot hooked him from the first sip!! (If you appreciate good coffee, do not miss the Kona Press Pot. Yields four cups and worth the money). The Tonga Toast is to die for, but I could only do it once because it is so rich. A cup of Kona and the Kona Delight (fresh melon, yogurt, granola and honey) got me off to a great start every day.

As for PS--We are glad we made one for Sunday AM because it was mobbed, but we got there around 8 every other morning at got seated without PS. Better safe than sorry.

Enjoy!!

We have breakfast there at least twice each trip and I always make a PS even if just from the room that morning (usually at 120 day out, though:D ).

They never seem too busy for lunch, though, and I wouldn't worry about making a PS.

Don't know about lunch but I would recommend making a ps for breakfast. You may get away with not making one if you show up on the early side but getting on towards 9 am there will probably be a long wait. If you don't want to plan too far in advance I'm sure you'll be okay calling the night before. The thing about not making a ps is that if you find that there is a big crowd and don't want to wait then there is not really anywhere nearby to have breakfast. Ohana's will be packed because it's a character meal and there is a counter service place downstairs but there too is limited seating and the food is not the same standard as Kona Cafe. As a result you may waste a lot of time looking for a decent breakfast
