Hi all -

How does transportation from the WL to MK for an 8:20 ADR work?

We were here just 2 years ago and caught an early boat but a cast member told me today boats only run 30 min before opening which is 9am tomorrow.

Do WL boats really not start earlier anymore??

Kinda. The Red Flag boats don't start running until 30 minutes before MK opens. However, the boat to the right of the dock that has a blue flag, goes to Fort Wilderness and Disney's Contemporary Resort. These boats run from 6:45 AM to 11:30 PM. So you could boat to Contemporary and walk over to MK. Or the buses start rolling at 6:30 AM so you could also hop on a bus to MK.
