Break out the bubbly and warn the waiters...she's coming back!

that clown slide is creeeeee-peeeeeee. :scared1:

I actually made my husband walk over to BW one year just to see the pool in person and even he was taken aback by it. Waterslides are cool, but not when it makes it seem like you're being barfed into a pool by a wacked out clown.

Phew! I am so glad that I am not the only one to feel this way. I was sure you all were going to think I was nuts! :goodvibes

Yes, it is very scary with the whole new online ADRs -- that is why I am watching all of you attempt them so carefully! :thumbsup2

So I'm your guinea pig, huh? ;) I have to do some reading on the restaurant board and see how it's been going. I won't lie. I'm nervous.

Happy to find you! I haven't been DISing as much in the last oh 6 months so it is nice to find old names I know and catch up!

A 10 day trip! Sounds fab! And during F&W which sounds so nice! I see your ADR day is soon. Fit Kona in somewhere! The food is great, the bread and macadamia nut butter is to die for!

Allyson :surfweb:

Hi Allyson! It's great to see you! I've missed you around these parts! :goodvibes I think I see a new link in your signature so I'll be heading over there to check that out. A mom/daughter trip sounds divine.

I am quite excited about 10 days and F&W. I've been thinking about Kona. Would love to try it (and a lapu lapu :rolleyes1). I'll have to see if I can fit that it. I know, with 10 days it shouldn't be an issue but you'd be surprised!

I don't think he's changed, but I also think the photo doesn't do him justice. I remember MUCH cuter in person. ;)

I think I figured it out. I was picturing the guy who used to be in the Stray Cats (I think?) and then had the Brian Setzer (sp?) orchestra. This is a different group entirely. Still looking forward to seeing/hearing them! :thumbsup2

I had to think about the clown slide discussion yesterday when my sister told me that she would never stay at POFQ: those alligators and the dragon slide are freaking her out!! :scared1: But Boardwalk is one of her favourites, she thinks the slide looks cool! :lmao: It's funny how different people are! I personally am ok with both!! :goodvibes

I've been enjoying your pre-trip report, but I think I got the morning drunk at the pool and clown chatter combined and thought it was a drunk clown that you stumbled upon in the AM by the pool. That would certainly be something (that would haunt me for the rest of my days).

It is funny. Katie also said that the dragon and alligators at POFQ freak her out. Those didn't bother me at all but the clown? :scared1: Nuff said. I think that's one of the best things about Disney... there is something for everyone! And you really can't beat the Boardwalk location! And I just read that their lounge is a perfect spot for an evening cocktail! :thumbsup2

Well, hello! Thanks for joining! Glad you are enjoying! :) Wow, a drunk clown would be quite a sight! :lmao: Never say never... I'll keep an eye out in September. ;)

I have ~ a week to finalize ADRs. I think I'm about there. More on that in the next few days. But in the meantime, thought I'd get started on my lists (shout out to Lady Lallie list-maker extraordinaire ). Through a combo of DIS TRs I decided to compile lists of must-do's, never-dones and would like to do's.

So, here is the Magic Kingdom. What do you think?? Have I missed anything?

MUST-DO’S
*Shopping along Main Street
*Dole Whip
*Pirates
*Jungle Cruise
*Carousel of Progress
*Tomorrowland Transit Authority
*Haunted Mansion

NEVER DONE:
*Tiki Room Under New Management – but I’m hesitant to spoil the perfect memory I have of the original from my Disneyland trip in ‘07
*Stitch – but based on what I’ve read, I don’t think I’m going to fix that
*That rocket ship thing in Tomorrowland where you ride an elevator to get on and then the ships spin in a circle
*El Pirata y el Pericho
*Cosmic Rays
*Columbia Harbour House
*Plaza
*Spectromagic
*The wishing well by the Castle
*The Train (at least not that I remember)
*Teacups... and ain't gonna change that. :sad2:

WOULD LIKE TO DO THIS TRIP (other than the must-do’s):
*Rides at night: Jungle Cruise, Thunder Mountain, Swiss Family Treehouse (supposedly you can get some neat pictures from near the top!), TTA
*Eat at the Plaza (part of my Cheeseburgers in Paradise tour of WDW)
*Spectromagic
*MNSSHP
*Explore Toon Town in more detail
*Fairies?
*Meet some characters! Maybe a character meal?
*Find the wishing well and make a wish!
*Dumbo – haven’t done this since I was a kid!
*Splash – not one of my must do’s but I’d like to do it!
*Hall of Presidents – can’t wait to see the Obama animatronic!
*Mickey’s Philharmagic – did this for the first time in December. LOVED it! And Katie’s story about her DS being so excited that Donald actually flew out of the film still warms my heart. :goodvibes
*Get an ice cream sandwich from the Main St Bakery
*See the Mr. Toad shout out on the Pooh ride
* Peter Pan for sentimental reasons
* Pull the sword from the stone! pirate:
*See the mural inside the building by Tony's (is that too cryptic? Do you know what I mean??)

What do you have on your lists? What have I missed? What are your MK favorites?

Up next, some MK photo favorites and finalizing those ADRs.

Those would be pretty much the same for me, although the Carousel of Progress...laugh if you must...tends to put my whole party to sleep. :lmao:

I don't even know what to say about the Tiki room. Honestly, I'm not fond of it. I prefer Walt's version much, much, much more than this new one, and the Tiki goddess scared the begeezus out of my DS when he was little so this is a no go for us. I don't even want to tell you to try it once, although I do think you should make your own opinion. But if I had to choose between this and something else, I wouldn't waste your time.

Cosmic Rays has been hit or miss for me, but I have always wanted to try Columbia Harbour House. Unfortunately for me, I forget that they have wierd hours and sometimes close early, so I've never been able to make it there.

The train is fun and relaxing. Without revealing too much, I'll leave it at that.;)

Teacups. A no go for TK, but well loved by DH and my mom. :thumbsup2

I am totally down with the rest of this list, and dying to know how good the cheeseburger is at the Plaza compared to everywhere else. I have trouble eating red meat, but for some reason, a good old cheeseburger usually doesn't bother me. Thank goodness. What would we do without cheeseburgres??? :goodvibes

great list!!

For me Wishes, Splash, Peter Pan and BTMRR would be on the must do list!! :goodvibes

on the neverdones, I absoutely agree with TK: the WDW Tiki Room is just sad. It would be ok on its own, but knowing the one in DL I knew what I was missing... :sad2:

Also, I am not fond of Spectro, but I am not a parade person. I can't really see the point of it and somehow I was also underimpressed by its technology. You would think that nearly a decade after the year 2000 (which seemed like the distant future when I was a kid :lmao:) they would be able to have something more impressive. But I guess it is something you have to see at least once! :thumbsup2

Actually I think the Teacups are rather mild as long as you don't also turn the teacup itself. The table rotates rather mildly and is a bit similar to a caroussel. But of course if you are really sensitive, you don't want to spoil your day!

The Astroorbiter is a fun ride, but gets long lines soon, so better do that early in the morning. You have quite a view from up there:

I think I have only three never dones in the MK: the Main Street vehicles (did those in DL and DLRP, but never in WDW), the Barnstormer and the Tomorrowland Speedway. The last one I have no intention of ever trying!!

Columbia Harbour House...meh. I tried it but I really think it is what I got which underwhelmed me. :confused3

You need to see Spectro at least once. It makes me so happy. I love the music, I love the floats, I just love everything about it. :cloud9:

I think I must be the only person who likes the Tiki Room. Don't get me wrong...the whole new management thing doesn't really do it for me but that part in the beginning when all the Tiki birds start to sing in harmony I get all warm and fuzzy inside. I also think of Walt's original idea of having a Tiki Bird restaurant and then that gets me thinking of Walt and all the wonderful things he made possible for generations and generations to enjoy. :lovestruc So yeah...I like the Tiki Room.

I think every adult should be obligated to ride Dumbo at least once. I felt most like a kid on that ride. :cloud9:

You will not be disappointed in Mickey's Philharmagic. It's delightful and my Mom's reaction to it will be in my heart forever. :goodvibes

LL, actually I agree with you: I love the Tiki Room - as Walt planned it! :goodvibes The start of the show is great, but then the new management takes over and I just wish they would go away and let the birds do their thing! :goodvibes

A few years back we rode the Astro Orbiter at night during MNSSHP ... it was so much fun (all that beer we had at the ESPN Club before arrival probably helped). There was no line to ride and it was a gorgeous evening - the MK looked so pretty from up there with all the lights and halloween decorations.

I agree, I love the first part. I have that song on the 4 Parks 1 World CD and I listen to the beginning and as soon as I hear Iago voice I skip the track. :rotfl2:

I love the original Tiki Room too, but under new management is an abomination. My sister said the look of horror upon my face when Gilbert Gottfried started talking was something to behold.

This post is a funny way of joining your trip report, but hi! I'm not sure how I found it, but I've been lurking here for a couple of days. Your trip sounds like great fun!

It is funny. Katie also said that the dragon and alligators at POFQ freak her out.

I don't know that I will ever do Tiki Room (although Stace threatened to take me) or Stitch (I will refuse to do this one!)

I'm with LL, love the Tiki room but do wish it was more like the original and not under new management, either. My boys did like them though...it's a catching tune...I enjoy it, it's cool, it's cute and I get to rest my feet!!!:cloud9:

And I second riding Dumbo...there is nothing lik eit (although, there is....Allaidan's carpet ride....:lmao:) but I still say ride it!!!

LOVE Mickey's Phillharmagic.....love it!!!!:love::love:

Chelsea and I loved Columbia Harbor House.

There is no way I would EVER ride Astro Orbiter -- I want to hurl just looking at Flossbolna's pics! No way no how!

Why not the teacups? Do you not like the spinning?

I saw the Mr. Toad shout out!!! Do you want me to tell you where to look? :goodvibes

CP, what did you eat at CHH? I'm just interested if you tried other things than I did. I had the fish and chicken combo thing and I didn't like it at all.

Just chiming in ... they make a terrific tuna salad sandwich at Columbia Harbor House ... it's one of the reasons I go there. It's so hard to find a decent tuna sandwich at WDW anymore. I've also heard that the vegetarian sandwich they make ... with hummus, I think, is really good. I may try that the next time we're there.

I had the fish. I meant to get the tuna sandwich, but I completely flaked while in line (and you will find out why when I do my next update). I also had the apple crisp thing for dessert, and it was very yummy!

Those would be pretty much the same for me, although the Carousel of Progress...laugh if you must...tends to put my whole party to sleep.

CoP isn't exactly riveting but for whatever reason I love it. Maybe b/c I can remember it from when I was a kid. And at the time the final scene with the video game and the stove that responds to voice commands seemed so futuristic! Now it just seems sad. But I'm not sure if I want them to update it- if that makes any sense.

I think I'm going to put the train on my would like to list. I can't even visualize where the other train stations are (other than Main St). :confused3

I could seriously live on cheeseburgers!

great list!!

Oh I think I forgot about BTMRR. I like it but probably not a must do for me.

I LOVE the Tiki Room in DL. :lovestruc

I don't know about the astro orbiter. Your pics are great but I'm guessing based on the angles that the little space ship thing twists and turns you around? It's not just a nice easy ride like Dumbo?

Oh, I've never done the Barnstormer or the Main St vehicles either!

Columbia Harbour House...meh. I tried it but I really think it is what I got which underwhelmed me.

I'm looking forward to riding Dumbo! Hopefully it doesn't turn into an international incident w/ someone yelling at me for being an adult taking up room on a kid ride!

Does Spectro use some of the floats from the old Main St Electrical Parade or is it all new?

Love the foreshadowing on your mom's reaction to Philharmagic! :)

Maybe I'll try Tiki Room... I really like how you described it! :goodvibes

LL, actually I agree with you: I love the Tiki Room - as Walt planned it! :goodvibes The start of the show is great, but then the new management takes over and I just wish they would go away and let the birds do their thing!

:lmao: I wonder why they don't get rid of the new management team? Nothing can compare to Disneyland though. With the special Dole Whip stand and being able to take said Dole Whip into the nice cool theater with you? :cloud9:

I have to check that CD out!

Gilbert Gottfried is definitely capable of inspiring horror! :scared: Glad to have you here! :)

Dole Whips don't appeal to you? Do you like pineapple? Oh well, more for me! ;)

Nope never seen Spectro. You like it?

I think I will stand strong with you on refusing to go on the Stitch ride. ::yes::

I have to check out what rides are open during MNSSHP- I think only certain ones are. I may have to come back another night for my other night time items.

I'm with LL, love the Tiki room but do wish it was more like the original and not under new management, either. My boys did like them though...it's a catching tune...I enjoy it, it's cool, it's cute and I get to rest my feet!!!

Tiki room is a nice rest. Will definitely have to keep that in mind depending on the weather. Oh how I hope it is so sunny that I need a cooling down break! Do you hear me, weather gods?

:lmao: on "nothing like Dumbo... oh wait, Aladin." :rotfl: It's gotta be Dumbo. That's the classic!

Chelsea and I loved Columbia Harbor House.

There is no way I would EVER ride Astro Orbiter -- I want to hurl just looking at Flossbolna's pics! No way no how!

Flossbolna's pics make me a little queasy too but you can't beat the views!

CP, what did you eat at CHH? I'm just interested if you tried other things than I did. I had the fish and chicken combo thing and I didn't like it at all.

I always hear about the tuna sandwich there but since I don't like tuna that's not going to do it for me. But who knows, maybe I'd like Disney tuna!
