I just loved the Bread Pudding @ O'Hannas. I almost didn't try it since I thought how tasty can it be w/ bread. Tried it and was amazed in the flavor. The waitress said it was made w/ Coconut milk.

Does anyone have the WDW recipe for Bread Pudding @ O'Hanas?

Or any other O'Hanas menu recipes? Planning a Luau this spring/summer and would love to try to make some of those recipes?

Thanks.

I read the recipe and noticed that there was no coconut milk it. Our waitress had told us that it was made coconut milk. Was she incorrect?

My DBF loves the bread pudding there! He eats half of what they give you and then we get a second helping.. just for him! I just printed the recipe out and plan on surprising him with it!

Question: When you flambe something, how long do you have to do that for so you know all the alcohol is burned off?

Usually the flame goes out when the alcohol is burned off--a few seconds or so

I have the actual recipe from the Delicious Disney cookbook you can buy at the parks/resorts. It does NOT have coconut milk in it. There is actual sweetened shredded coconut in it. However, the recipe ALSO calls for raisins and crushed pineapple, both of which I do NOT recall tasting in the 'Ohana bread pudding, so it is possible that at the actual restaurant, they use coconut milk instead of shredded coconut, and they omit the raisins and possibly the pineapple.

I just made the bread pudding last Friday at home! DH and I have been eating it all weekend. The best part is the Bananas Foster caramel sauce. Mmmmmm.

Here's the recipe:

'Ohana Bread Pudding A la Mode with Bananas Foster Sauce

5 large eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1.5 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
3 cups whole milk
1 loaf challah bread or egg style bread (I used brioche), enough to fill 10 cups, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
1 (8oz) can crushed pineapple, drained (I use fresh pineapple, processed in the blender...tastes MUCH better...don't need to drain it)
1/4 cup sweetened shredded coconut
1/4 cup raisins (optional)
Vanilla Ice Cream

Bananas Foster Sauce (recipe follows):
1 cup DARK brown sugar (it MUST be dark brown)
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup butter
1 cup heavy cream, divided
1/2 cup spiced or dark rum (I use only 1/4 cup)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 bananas, peeled and sliced

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, salt, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and milk.

2. Stir in bread cubes, pineapple, coconut, and raisins (optional). Pour into a 13x9x2 inch pan coated with cooking spray.

3. Bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Remove from oven and let stand for 5 minutes.

4. Serve the hot bread pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and top with warm bananas foster sauce.

Bananas Foster Sauce:

1. While the bread pudding is baking, in a medium saucepan over high heat, combine brown sugar, corn syrup, butter, and half the heavy cream. Bring to a rolling boil.

2. Boil for 10 minutes, then add remaining cream. Boil 1 minute more.

3. Add rum and vanilla. Flambe using a long stemmed lighter. Let boil until flame goes out.

4. Reduce to a simmer and stir with a heatproof spatula.

5. Add bananas. Remove from heat and set aside.

Same here, really loved the bread pudding at O'hana. We will definitely try it again in our next trip on December.

Have a nice day everyone. :)
