Our trip is here - we're leaving for London today, and come Monday morning will be checking into the Cheyenne and heading for the magic!
I'm not holding out much hope but will we see much evidence of Merida or Brave at DLP? I've been a bit absent from the boards recently so not sure what you all thought of it, but as a proud scot I was blown away. Might even be in my top 5 Disney movies now!

Rebelle as it's known here ;) came out on the 1st of August.

There is a fair bit of marchandise in the shops - dress, wig, shoes, cuddly bears but I've not seen anything more "adult" like a mug for example

I've not seen it as with all Disney "cartoons" they are only in French in the cinemas so I'll wait for the dvd and we will have it in English with French subtitles for OH :goodvibes

I'm a proud scot too, we saw Brave this week, and to be honest I wasn't blown away. Its cute, but I don't think it will be going into our DVD collection at home :).

My DD1 would love to meet Merida - but I doubt she will be around by the time we visit in Nov/Dec!

I took her to see Brave (glad I didn't take DD2 as I think it's a bit much for a 4 year old in places). She enjoyed it but tbh I wasn't that impressed - it just lacked depth to the story imo but then everyone has an opinion on these things ;)!

Enjoy your stay Lola - can't wait to hear all about it and the Wedding :thumbsup2.

Oh I loved Brave and hopefully I can get some stuff to bring back to my 2 kids who also loved it.
Not sure how much I can write about it here that wouldn't be a spoiler for anyone who's not seen it.

Rosebug loved it - but she likes being frightened, strange little thing! we went to Seaton Delaval Hall last week and she kept going into the pitch black pantry rooms in the cellar on her own, telling us to wait outside and then shouting from inside "Oooooh it's spooky in here! Do you think there might be a ghost or a monster!" :confused3

I did enjoy it, I thought the moral behind the story was very good - but there were parts that I thought needed developed much more.

When we were there in August, there was lots of merch for kids but nothing else! Lots of little Merida's running round - those wigs made me giggle! :rotfl:

Hope you have a wonderful stay!

I think it depends on the child - I probably should have said, it would have been a bit much for my 4 year old in places. Both my children tend to take things literally and stew over things for ages afterwards. DD1 is worse than DD2 but as she is getting older she is learning that things aren't necessarily all real - but she was shaking with fright at a few bits in Brave! So, I am always mindful of what they watch. A few of the Mums at school took their DDs the same age as mine and all but one said they were glad they didn't take their younger siblings. Like I said though, it does depend on the child and you know your child better than anyone :thumbsup2.

It is something we might watch on DVD once it comes out (hired, I wouldn't buy it as it's not something I'd watch a few times), that way I can control any bits I feel won't be suitable/she might not like :).

Overall though, they both know who Merida is and would love to meet her I'm sure ;)!

That's what I mean, it totally depends on the child, but I agree for a lot of LO's there are parts of that film which would be scary - Rosebug likes being scared, which is a bit odd for a 3 year old, she's never had much choice tbh, as her daddy takes great delight in giving her as many frights as possible, but alot of her friends wouldn't have enjoyed it at all, especially those bits with the bear - god I nearly jumped out of my seat at those bits! When I was little I probably would have been frightened by it, but then even now I don't like horrors and stuff. I have held off letting her watch Snow White tbh, as it is quite dark in places, and in Feb she was scared by the ride, however, this trip it was her favourite ride so maybe she'll be okay with the film now.

I also drew the line at Dr Who - which she has been begging to watch, because she likes the scary spaceman (she saw a clip at the end of the Gruffalo's Child we recorded from last Christmas when he is in the spaceman suit!) She is 3, and I am not sure Dr Who is suitable!

Kids are funny little things!

I thought brave was fantastic!! We as a family all enjoyed it including my 4 year old :) who likes to say she scared of everything!!! Think it just depends on child/ mood they r in! ;) for mine anyway!!
But just on the film- I thought it was brilliant!! Just one for the scots! ;)
Ever since, the phrase 'a princess disnae dae that' may have been used once or twice in this house..... ;)

We wouldn't take our 5 year old as he can be a bit funny about things - he probably wouldn't be scared by the bears but the scene near the end where they're fighting the Queen might really upset him. He's also got a thing against witches (there was a massive animatronic one in our local Asda for Halloween a couple of years ago which seriously freaked him out) which meant that he's never got past the first 5 minutes of Tangled - he was terrified that Mother Gothel was going to hurt Rapunzle when she cut her hair.

Rosevug, I agree about Dr Who, DS has seen some episodes - he likes the Daleks - but last season they were all way too scary for him. The last episode with dinosuars was awesome and we're foing to be watching that with him at some point.

Yay for brave merchandise, we took our 3 year old on sunday for her birthday and she loved it, was a little worried she would be too scared and she did jump in a few places but managed to sit through the whole thing. She is the spitting image of merida so i am pleased i get to buy the dress and save mney on the wig lol!
