I've been looking into Branson for my immediate family (two girls 9 and 12) and have suggested to my parents that it might be a place they could easily get away to, too. (Probably not at the same time as us).

So, I am open to suggestions of things that would be good for a family with tween girls, and things that would be good for 70-somethings.

My girls like old-time stuff, so Silver Dollar City and the Laura Ingalls Wilder house at Mansfield are on our list. My dream is to get a log cabin rental.

My mom can handle most anything, but my dad will not want to do much walking. For shows, they would like religious, or clean-funny. They like nature, waterfalls, eagles. He likes history, but I don't know how much walking the Titanic is?

I am looking at Dogwood Canyon. Would the tram tour be good for Dad (not much walking?) Has anybody done the evening tram tour with the food and games? Was thinking about that for us.

Well, you're in luck because everything in Branson is religious/clean/funny!

We really liked Dolly Parton's show. It's a little more $ than some, but includes food, a preshow that's nice, and the actual show with animals/horses.

You really can't go wrong with whatever you choose there. Have fun :)

I actually went to Branson in October! I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVED the Titanic museum, so interesting and fun. We also saw the Legends in concert thing, at that time it was George Strait, the Temptations, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, and the Blues Brothers but I know at different times of the year they have different "performers". We also did the "ride the ducks" thing where you ride in this open air boat/car thing that can go on land and water, they take you all around Branson and up in the hills and then into the lake, its pretty fun and a lot of kids were riding it. The drivers let the kids "drive" the boat when they take it into the water.

There is a 50s type diner there that has good food, we liked it a lot. Hope that helps!

Does the Titanic take a lot of walking? I know that's subjective, so probably hard to answer that.

I think my family will do the Dixie Stampede.

I am not sure how many days to do there, either. DH wants to go to Disney, so either we take two short trips, like only 3 nights in Branson, or I make him wait on Disney till next year and we do 4 or 5 nights in Branson! As expensive as the cabins I like are, less nights would help with that! But that is non-negotiable. I have been pouring over cabins since last winter- first in Gatlinburg, and decided on Branson as it's half the drive.

The Titanic is pretty much just a walk through museum, so it takes as long as you want it to but its not really strenuous or anything. They have lots of fun stuff in there, I wouldn't recommend missing it if you like the titanic. Theres a room where you can go outside and feel the air as if you were on the bow of the ship at night, you can also walk up the grand staircase and there is a stand with water in it that is kept at the temperature of the Atlantic the night the ship went down and its FREEZING. You can also rent audio equipment that will tell you about some of the things you see. I believe the admission was between $15-$20 but don't quote me.

Honestly I don't know if I would be able to spend 4 or 5 nights in Branson, it got a little boring after awhile because its really all restaurants and shows and it gets expensive. we had 3 and that was more than enough. Although with kids theres more to do, the wax museum is supposed to be pretty fun! If you like Christmas decorations theres a HUGE christmas shop that has everything you could possibly want, including lots of Disney items

Check out 1Branson on the internet. Ton of information and check out the forums, they are very informative.

Also, check out Branson.com there is a ton of info on there along with show prices, etc. Your tweens can ride go carts and mini golf all day and night! I don't remember if there was alot of walking in the titanic, but you walked room to room and spent some time in each room looking. We've been to Branson a few times, saw some really good shows. most all the shows are clean. Acrobats of china were excellent along with Dixie Stampede. Have fun. If you can find it before you go, buy a track pass for the go carts. ticket prices are 50% off and you can reload the pass at the discount.

DW and I went to Branson, for the first time, last Sept.. We are in our late sixties and like 50's and 60's music. Your parents might enjoy going to see Bill Medley at the Starlite Theatre. Bill is the remaining Righteous Brother. He and his daughter put on a good show.

We flew into Branson and didn't have a rental car. It seemed to us that taxi's were few and far between.

You should check out the landing, it pretty neat lots of shops and restaurant. You might want to ride the ducks it pretty fun. I'm a local of Branson if you have any questions ask me:)

If I remember correctly, after you finish riding the ducks you go through an exhibit of photos from various wars - might be interesting if your father is a veteran. And we all loved the Chinese acrobats.
