Brand new to DVC-Can I ask a question about trading?

We love Disney, but definitely want to trade for other destinations like Hawaii and Hilton Head. Is it difficult to do that? Especially Maui-Has anyone not been able to trade ever? I'm not sure about the trading thing, but we are interested in other destinations besides Disney!!

I'll try to give you the short answer for now. Do some searching on the board for more information. Exchanging timeshares takes flexibility and planning. It's not like making a reservation. Maui is tough and it will be hard to get period. One might be able to get into DVC HH but summer HH trades overall will be almost as tough as HI though off season should be easy.

Only about 2/3 of the exchanges started by DVC members during 2000 were completed by the end of the year. That means they got a choice, not necessarily their first or even second choice. Plan 2 years out if possible but no less than 1 year out and be as flexbible as possible. Direct exchanges can be the best option for DVC members wanting high demand locations/resorts. Good luck.
