Brand New Security Measure -- No Liquids/gels In Carry-on Luggage

I'd have bigger issues than toothpaste and such if I didn't get my luggage for 2 days! Magical Express usually delivers the same day, right? I thought that only rarely (or in cases of a late flight) will your luggage be delayed until the next day.

Usually within 4 hours. They'll even deliver late at night although most late arriving guests prefer to have the luggage held until the next morning. Do you really want bell services waking you up an hour after you get to sleep?

It's likely that longer delays are airline mistakes.

Another thought is to not put the yellow DME tags on your bags....go get them yourself and have them put onto the bus. Then they are with you. I am expecting DME to be running longer, just because of the changes, possible confusions, etc. Heck yeah, I would rather be woken up at 3 a.m. than not have my stuff anyway...especially if it means I can avoid purchasing duplicates at WDW!

LOL.

Yes, DME is usually very, very good. But I was responding to something posted earlier that DME does say to carry on essentials for 24 hours just In case. :sunny:

But, with the craziness in the airports for the near future, I think we can count on seeing a few extra late bags - not from DME, but from the airlines. At least till things settle back down into a routine.

:furious:

I never check a bag. It was ground into me by my grandparents who travled all over the world for months at a time that you can pack everything you need into carry on. This means that now I'm going to have to check a bag if I want to ever brush my teeth or wash my hair while on vacation. How stupid is that?

Our local news is also saying that laptops and mobile phones are also banned - though I didn't see that on the TSA link.

Is there any mention of how long this might last? We are leaving next Thursday for Disney. Besides toothpaste, it would be nice to have some suntan lotion when we arrive to protect from the Florida sun.

I think you can take the suntan sticks cant you? Put a good amount of water proof suntan lotion on before you leave (lasts up to 8 hour kind, probably more if you dont get wet) then use the stick when you get there?

just a thought...yeah i thought of the sunblock thing right off too..were all very fair.

Actually all it means is that you just have to buy toothpaste, shaving cream and shampoo/conditioner where ever you go. You don't have to check your bags if you dont carry these items.
But I will miss my watter bottle  ...I feel bad for all the air stewards that will now have to serve move water/beverages.
I will continue to have an over night carry on bag(just minus the tolietries)...if I were a stock investor...I would be looking toward companies that supply hotel chains with the setups. I can see a huge run on toothpaste/shaving cream and hair care products.
We will be ok...I honestly think the media is really over blowing this into a crisis.
And amazingly gas just went down $12 a barrel. :confused3

A friend who went through Newark this morning told me they were confiscating deodorant (stick and roller) as well there. So they would probably take a sunblock stick away too.

I'm concerned if this lasts longer, I use prescription toothpaste and have sunscreen allergies so not only do I need to have my stuff, if it gets lost or confiscated I can't easily replace any of it when I arrive. I can only get my sunscreen through my dermatologist or online as it is, so I'd be desperate without it.

We're traveling in late September so hopefully it'll be sorted out by then. If not, I may have my dentist write me an extra prescription for my toothpaste just in case and mail myself an extra tube of sunblock to the resort.

I'm planning on " double ziplocking " a toiletry bag for each of us to put in our checked bag. I think we'll end up with only one or 2 small carry on bags between the 4 of us, and I'm just planning on putting a few changes of clothes in extra large ziploc bags in these in case our luggage gets lost. We'll be packing very lightly for this trip!

If your toothpaste is prescription, then you should be able to carry it on without a problem.

I will probably end up picking up one suitcase at the terminal, and letting Magical Express handle the rest. With 4 little children, it would be too tough to manage it all. And we will be going a long time without changing clothes or refreshing our makeup/deoderant otherwise. Due to wierd circumstances, we are driving 9 hours just to get to the airport!

Has anyone heard anything about makeup? Lipstick etc? I doubt that foundation would be acceptable, but hopefully the thicker stuff.

The news said that the terrorists were going to ignite the liquid expolsive with a device like a MP3 player. What is going to happen to all the business travelers and their laptops. My husband is leaving on a business trip on Monday. If he has to check his laptop, are the airlines going to handle it with "care"????

We leave the following Monday for Disney. I will have a problem if the electronics ban is not lifted by then. My son has ADHD, even though he takes medication, if he can't bring his gameboy, we might be in for some trouble.:hyper:

It seems like anytime something like happens right around the time we are going to Disney. My husband and I went to Disney on the one month anniversary of 9/11 and now this happens with 11 days to go. Don't get me wrong I am all for safety, but why does this stuff have to happen right before we have to go away. ARGHHHHHHHH!:(

If you are checking luggage, then put all your tolietries in your checked bags. If you are using carry ons only get the grocery service or buy at WDW.
I would still carry on diapers, wipes, formula etc. Diaper rash cream I would pack in checked luggage. Check out the TSA website.

FIVE SUITCASES?!?!?!? for 4 people plus a carryon each?!?!?! Are you bringing your house? We've got 2 suitcases and 2 carry ons for a family of 4 for 10 days. I don't think I could fill 5 suitcases unless we all brought every stitch of clothing we own. Downsize girl!!!!

This is the list as follows: This is for CARRY ON ONLY::: NO LIP BALM NO DEODERANT NO TOOTHPASTE NO LOTIONS OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING SUNTAN LOTION, NO MOUTHWASH, HAIRSPRAY! Flights are DELAYED in the US up to 5 HOURS!!!! :sad2: I travel on Sat. and hope this is lifted somewhat by than, or I will be checking my luggage! :sad2: :guilty:

I traveled today, no porblems with electronics, and they didn't take my deodorant (thank goodness, since I'm on a 2 day trip and only have carry on's). I didn't bother brining anything else. Luckly for me, the news broke this morning about 20 mins. before I left my house to head to the airport. I took out everything except the deodorant, and had no problem. (I travel for work, so I had my laptop and blackberry) However, they are very serious about anything out side of perscriptions. It was a mad house getting through security.

From what I saw this morning (at Chicago Midway) if you are checking a bag, be to the airport about 3 hours before your flight, at least for the next few days!
