Brand new since overnight -- NO LIQUIDS OR GELS PERMITTED IN CARRY-ON LUGGAGE. This includes things like toothpaste and perfume. All of this is OK in checked bags.

This is for ALL flights, even domestic flights within the USA.

This is in response to a large-scale terror plot broken up in the UK.

Thank you for the heads up. Is this on the TSA site?

They just mentioned(during the press conference) that there is exceptions for Baby Formula and medicines(but you must be prepared to have them searched).

Also to please declutter your carry on bags- I figure if you are waiting for 1 bag pp then you might as well wait for two. So my next trip we are doing lots of checked luggage!! Less for me to carry anyway. ;)

The ones I really see having a problem are families(since little kids usually can't handle luggage and parents need a free hand for kids), and flyers that do not like to check luggage.

Well, this puts a spin on the DME use...you are told to put whatever you need in your carryon for 24 hours....I know the resort has hair stuff, but toothpaste would be nice!. We leave tomorrow, I am going to call and have ourride get us even earlier...we are traveling using both flier mile and reg paid tickets, right there will be a case of confusion....sadly, the world is still crazy and I am glad that the losers were caught who were out to intend harm.

Of course, I have always packed my shaving kit (toothpaste, shampoo, gel, shaving cream, etc) in my carryon to ensure I have it when i arrive. So this is a big heads up for people like me.

I assume Disney will have some toothpaste available should bags get delayed, or, if like me, are arriving late (11PM) at night using magical express.

Perhaps you might want to consider getting your luggage yourself rather than using the DME tags and delivery. This way, you will have all of your stuff.

Just a thought.

Is there any mention of how long this might last? We are leaving next Thursday for Disney. Besides toothpaste, it would be nice to have some suntan lotion when we arrive to protect from the Florida sun.

I agree with disneyfreak. You could just check at your home airport one bag w/out the ME tags and just pick that one up at MCO and have the rest delivered to the room. Still alot less hassle than dealing with all your luggage.

Thats a good point.

I think the best plan may be to claim bads and have them carried under the bus to your resort. Or, have one that is checked that you claim with your necessities in it.

I was concerned about the new liquid restrictions as we are leaving Saturday, but this is a great idea.

Some of the airlines are going to make a little extra money on this!!

Most domestic carriers will only allow you 2 checked bags and they have to be under 50lbs. If you go over the weight limit, you get hit with extra charges. You also get dinged pretty good if you have more than 2 bags.

Maybe people will finally start packing less. I think these restrictions will be around for awhile. They never really relaxed most of them.

Since this is so sudden, I think all the airlines are scrambling. But I believe it was Jet Blue, has already announced that its passengers can check three bags at no extra charge. The other carriers will probably follow suit as soon as they can get organized enough to announce it. Of course, if it involves organization, we may never see the announcement :teeth:

The big machines that screen for explosives are only used with checked bags. Until/unless the screening system is changed some of those restrictions may stay. I guess small items like toothpaste may wind up being allowed but I wouldn't count on being allowed to bring something like a case of water or a large bottle of anything anytime soon.

I wonder if increased screening of checked luggage may result in some luggage not even making the flight.

Love the idea of checking one bag for pickup at MCO and letting DME handle the rest.

The other thing one can do is stop at one of the stores on their way out of MCO. All those newsstands carry travel size toothpaste and other essentials. Enough to last a day or two until your bags get to your room.

You can still bring all your liquids such as suntan lotion with you - just not on carryon. You can still pack it in your checked luggage.

Caution though: Put all your liquid and gel items in ziploc bags as the pressure can sometimes cause them to leak.

Nothing like getting to your destination and seeing pink sunscreen all over your clothes. Or your suitcase reeking of Nexxus coconut scented conditioner.

I have learned by experience

For Jet Blue - is that 3 checked bags per person (incl children)?
So far I'll have on me one carry on, a 26" upright and small purse,
dd will have her disney small carry on and a backpack.
Could I get by w/ another checked bag/case, if necessary?
I'm not leaving till end of Sept but I have a feeling these new regulations will be place for a while.

I work for AA and just saw a memo that went out stating that we have increased our checked baggage allowance by 2. Passengers may travel with up to 4 bags checked with out penalty.

Im sure the others carriers will do the same.

I'd have bigger issues than toothpaste and such if I didn't get my luggage for 2 days! Magical Express usually delivers the same day, right? I thought that only rarely (or in cases of a late flight) will your luggage be delayed until the next day.
