Does anyone know if the doors at CSR are metal. I don't plan on "trashing" up the door with decorations, but would like to put a small mickey magnet on the door to make it easier for my mil to spot her room. Thanks

Not as fast as you'd think. For us, it stopped at Blizzard Beach both ways. Not so bad on the way there, but on the way back, jamming in a bunch of people in dripping swimsuits into a standing room only bus -- not so great.

We timed it on the way back and it took as long to get back from AK with a stop at BB as it did to get to MK.

OH, so it makes a stop at Blizzard Beach first both going to and coming back?:confused3 Glad I asked, I was thinking it would be a quick ride at least on the way there before park opening:sad2: Oh well, I guess DH will have to just get up extra early another day:) he'll live.
Thanks again,
Laurie:goodvibes

I called this morning and spoke to the room assigner and put in my request!!! They were so nice about it! Heres to hoping! The only thing I wanted was no ranchos and a renovated room. Cross your fingers!

Hello Everyone!

We are leaving for CSR in about 2 weeks:yay:I can hardly wait! This will be our 1st trip to CSR, my DD (3), DH, and my Mom are all going for a week:banana:

Where should I request a room at? Any suggestions? This is my hubby's and my daughter's first trip to WDW. My Mom and I have been several times but it's been a long time since we visited. I think 1996 was the last time we were there. Way too looooong to be away from the best place on earth:wizard:

Thanks:goodvibes

I think its a personal prefrence, ranchos is more desert southwest looking and from what i have read furthest away from the action. Casistas is closets to the eating and conference places but could be full of conference goers but looks so pretty with all the fountains and cabanas is the white sandy beach looking area 8a is close to the dig site. I want cabanas but ok with casitas also. Research online and see which area appeals to you more! Good luck!

Our personal preference is Casitas 4 or 5--a five minute walk to the main building and about eight or ten minutes ot the main pool. Here are suggestions:

For adult couples, especially honeymooners or those celebrating anniversaries Casitas 4 or 5 with a water view is exceptional. Casita 4 has the quiet pool, fitness center, spa, salon, and both are close to bus stop #2.

For “leisure guests with children” here are some great locations; Cabana 8a, Rancho 7b, Cabana 8b, 9a, Rancho 6b, and 6a...in that order. Nearness to El Centro is usually of no importance to many guests. It's much more important to be close to the park bus stops and the “Dig Site”. Leisure guests may come to El Centro once or twice; but they will be at the buses twice a day (at least) and the pool often when they are at the resort.

For adults or large families who wish to be close to a park bus stop and to a “quieter pool” but are not interested in the theme pool, building 7a is great and has close proximity to parking.

Building 2 also is close to parking and usually one of the quietest buildings, especially from the 4th floor. The fourth floor of building actually includes part of the upper floors of building 3 and has easy access to the convention center by way of the elevator courtyard of building 1 (especially in a rainstorm).

In other words, there is no “best location for everyone”. Each building has its own plusses and minuses. The cast members will be happy to guide you into the building that fits your needs best……..if you let them know what those needs and expectations may be.

Also, for a reality check…….when there is a large convention……not everyone is going to get a room next to the convention center. In fact, most of the rooming blocks are set up by the group having the convention long before any of the convention guests arrive…… Sometimes, there is little cast member latitude on changing those assignments.

As always, if there are special needs that must be addressed, fax the resort a week before arrival. Be sure you are faxing to the resort and not to Walt Disney Travel Company, their booking agency. The resort cast is best able to accommodate special needs. Often guests call the reservation desk with these requests and do not understand that this is not the resort; but a central reservation desk for ALL of Walt Disney World. The fax number is available by calling Walt Disney World information and asking for the front desk operations fax number.

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building (closest to the pool).

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above (9a has a quiet pool).

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 1 is attached to the main building and is very close to the restaurants.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building. Close to bus stop #2.

WOW!!! Thank you Very Much:thumbsup2

Yeah I think it's a personal preference where you'd like to stay but all 3 of them are beautiful! We stayed there for the first time this year and stayed in Cabanas 9B and leaning on staying there again next year....or the Casitas!

Anxiously awaiting online checkin! We are using ME for the luggage, but will have a laptop and dvd player in our carryons. Our room will probably not be ready (our flight arrives at 9:00am) and we plan on heading to AK as soon as we pick up our tix at CSR. Is there somewhere more secure to check the laptop than just bell services? Usually we do not arrive so early in the day to go to a park so it has not been an issue before. TIA~and thanks for all the great info on this thread!

This time next week my DD and I will be flying to WDW for our vacation at CSR. Can't wait!

Quick question about the tolietries--is it just a bar of soap and a bottle of shampoo/conditioner that's provided or something else? I know Pop gave you facial and bath soap and that shampoo/conditioner while at the Poly you got separate shampoo and conditioner as well as shower gel and lotion.

TIA! :thumbsup2

I did online on monday and it was easy! Just a few questions plug in your cc number and your pretty much done. The only thing is it says I was a pirate-water view??? Not sure what that was all about but i called the hotel to make sure I wasnt at the cbr instead of csr and they said no I was with them so guess we will see when i get there if everything made it work good.

At CSR you get the large and small soaps, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. The only thing we got at the Poly that we did not get at CSR was shower gel.

Have a great trip!

When we were there in September, we also got shower gel, body wash, mouthwash and a toothbrush. But this might have been because we were upgraded to a suite. :)

well, I was all set on CBR- but now I saw here that the rooms have been remodeled and have queen size beds.
My question is- and I'm sorry I haven't read all 100 something pages- have all rooms been remodeled and the door between the room and bathroom close?
I like that so I can get dressed without my son seeing me???

Thanks for your help. Just when I thought I figured which resort -this comes along. :rotfl:

Which is better CBR or this place?? HMMMMMM!!!!

When the rehab is complete (October 09), ALL rooms will look the same. They will either have two queen beds or a new king bed. All other furnishing, sliding doors, flat screen televisions, etc., will be the same in every room. As of now they have eight of the thirteen buildings completed. Ranchos 7B will be the ninth building completed and they are almost done with it. Ranchos 7A will be next and then they have floors 1, 2 and 3 of Casitas Buildings 1, 2 and 3 to do and the rehab will be complete.

Can't say which is better. We've never stayed at the CBR as we love the CSR and have stayed here seven times. If you have any other questions, ask away...someone is always willing to help.

My husband just got off the phone booking our trip for the last week of August. When he asked the reservationist to note we'd love a renovated room (our only request) he told him all the buildings are already finished . Of course, we know better from reading here, but no worries, we know the odds will be with us by late August.
