Minnie&Nana - that's a good point about the delue resorts. MY DH and I stayed once at AKL and it took forever to get to our room! And it was down a dark hallway - not pretty at all :goodvibes.

Same for us at BC, loooong walk down a loooong hall when we were dog tired and one day our key was dead and we seriously debated who would have to make the looooong trek to the lobby to get a new key! :rotfl2:

So a CSR question....

If I book a standard view room and requested Casitas 4 or 5 are there any really terrible views?

We are going to do a split stay at CSR and BCV. I noticed that the mugs at CSR are different than any other resort. Whenever we have split our stays before, we continue to use our mugs from resort to resort during the same vacation.

It seemed reasonable since it's the same vacation, same mug. Seemed silly to buy 5 new, identical mugs just because we switched Disney resorts. But the different mugs at CSR are throwing me for a loop??

Do you have the option of buying the standard mugs at CSR? I would not feel comfortable using a CSR mug at BCV. If I buy standard mugs somewhere else before I get to CSR, can I use them there instead of the resort specific mug?

If it were just one or two mugs, I would just buy them both, but 5 mugs!
:confused3:confused3:confused3

I do not know how the BCV will handle or accept it, but at the CSR you can only use the CSR specific mugs. And, no, they do notn sell the standard mugs.

Lucky you!!!! :woohoo:

Have a GREAT trip!! :goodvibes

Thanks so much. I can't wait to get back to CSR. We've stayed at several resorts since our 2004 CSR visit and every time I wish we'd just gone back to our favorite!!!

Also, I noticed your adorable puppies Where do they stay while you're out of town?? We will be leaving Pixie for the first time next week, she's 9 months old. She's going to Grandma and Grandpa's house and she loves them. I will still worry, but am thankful we don't have to kennel her.

We've stayed in 4 or 5 probably five times now. We've always been fortunate and been upgraded to a water view. I know there are some courtyard views as well as parking lot views.

Here's what I would request:
Casita's 4 or 5
Pretty view, please

One yr my only request at POP was "view of palm trees, please" - they were so sweet and upgraded us to a 4th floor preferred room with palm trees lining the walkway!

Whenever we've kept our requests simple we have had the best rooms. ::yes::

Actually, if you are doing a split stay during your visit, you can use your mug from the other Disney resorts at Coronado. Our GM had a discussion with Spring Foods over it, because we were rebating so many guests for the new mugs that Spring Foods decided to allow the use of the other mug.

That is great news. Thanks JamesLynn!

Totally!! It just goes to show how amazing our GM is!

Same GM from last year? He was great to us with the death of my dad, helping to make our anniversary special, etc. Glad to see that they talked some sense in to the Spring Foods people. :)

Yup, we still have Roger.
He is simply amazing!
I got to have a lovely roundtable discussion with him this morning before I went home. He's great at listening to what we have to say and the concerns we bring.

Super!

Love the new avatar, JamesLynn.

sooo... i'm wondering.. we're not doing a split stay but i'd LOVE to have one of the new mugs out for this year and wanted to see if we got one of those mugs since they're allowed to be used by guests doing a split stay, if we'd be able to purchase one and use them too instead of the resort-specific CSR mugs??? i don't want to cause any trouble or problems, i just really like the design of the new mugs!! :goodvibes

We're going to be staying at CSR the beginning of Oct (can't wait ). Our travel party consists of me, DH, DM (young senior), DS5, and DD1. We're not doing WDW the whole time. We're planning on renting a car for 2 or 3 days to do some non-Disney stuff. Anyway, I'd like to request a room that is #1 close to a bus stop
#2 close to a parking lot

I keep debating about being close to the dig site. My DS is a little afraid of the water, but I know he'd love the playground and digging in the sand. And we never use the pool much on vacations anyway. So . . . . . any suggestions about what I should request?

As I mentioned in a previous answer (or maybe it was another thread), there is parking around the entire resort (picture below) so you will be pretty close to parking wherever you end up. If you aren't so concerned about the pool, I would request Casitas 4 or 5...both close to Bus Stop 2 which is the first picked up and dropped off.
Also, FYI...there is a kiddie pool by the main pool (picture below).

Thank you JamesLynn and KatMark for answering our questions so quickly and effeciently. I, for one, truly appreciate the time you spend here on the Dis, reading and responding to our posts.

JamesLynn, please tell Roger that we here on the Dis appreciate his work and management style at CSR.

I have a question that you might be able to answer, I will be arriving later this month (Woo Hoo!) on June 26th. I have a one-night room only stay and then will be continuing to stay with the Buy 4 Get 3 Package. I am hoping that we will be allowed to stay in the same room for both reservations. I know it is not guaranteed but hope we will be able to do this.

I was also wondering what my chances would be to get just our park tickets on our arrival date instead of having to wait for the second reservation to start the next day. Do either of you have any idea if this would be possible and what my chances are of getting them early?

I know all the Cabanas have been renovated and some of the Castinas. Which of the Castinas still need to be done?

I originally requested Cabanas since I really want a renovated room. But now I think our family would like the experience of staying in the Castinas since they look more like our DS's image of a Mexican vacation would be like. So, now I am thinking of requesting either Cabanas or Castinas.

I want my DH to fall in love with CSR and WDW so it will be easier to convince him that our family needs to take a WDW vacation every year!:thumbsup2 I really think the new renovated rooms at CSR would go a long way in convincing him of how great CSR is and how WDW is a great place to vacation at each year.

I don't have a definitive answer, but we're in the same situation arriving about a week after you with a one-night ressie followed by the 4/3 package. The room type is the same for both ressies, so I'm also hoping we can stay in the same room. When I called last week to make room reservations, I asked if they could link the 2 ressies somehow, and was told that they cannot, but I should just ask when we check-in and they'd do the best they could to keep the same room. We would still have to do a check-out and check-in on the 2nd day even if it's the same room.

I also thought it was interesting that the CM also mentioned that it was all queens at CSR, which isn't quite completely true from what I understand here (that there are still a few 2 double rooms left.) I originally requested Cabanas 8B or 9A but the CM said 9A was Club Level (I think that's what she said), so she just requested 8B.

Thank you for the kind words. I'm going to let JamesLynn answer this one as I've never had to deal with this situation and cannot answer.

All of the Cabanas are done. Casitas 4 and 5 are complete; the fourth floor of Casitas 1, 2 and 3 are done (they still need to do the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floor of those three buildings); and Ranchos 6A and 6B are done, with Ranchos 7B currently being worked on (leaving Ranchos 7A to be done too).

I don't have a definitive answer, but we're in the same situation arriving about a week after you with a one-night ressie followed by the 4/3 package. I originally requested Cabanas 8B or 9A but the CM said 9A was Club Level (I think that's what she said), so she just requested 8B.

Club Level is STRICTLY for convention guests. The original plan, to my knowledge, was offer it to resort guests, but they found that it was not cost effective, and therefore it is only available to convention guests. However, if there is no convention going on, then Cabana 9B is available to resort guests, just no Club Level usage.

Per JamesLynn on May 26: "It's around about 25 rooms now. All located in Casitas 1-3 on floors 1-3"--these are the number of rooms left with the double beds and they are being converted to king.
