woohoo- the countdown is on....we leave on our drive to FL 3 weeks from today!!!!!

PS...how do you know when the conventions are? We'll be there 4/27-5/2.

You're going to be there same time we are!

Maybe our families will run into each other... we'll be there 4/28-5/5. And I'm still planning stuff to do :surfweb:

Looks like there is 3 of us DIS/CSR's going to be there at the same time. We are there, 4/27-5/4.

Kat, I have a question. What is the deal, with getting to DTD from CSR?? Is it hard. Do, I have to go to a certain bus stop to catch one. I keep reading people have a hard time getting there. Is it also difficult, returning. I ask, because, I want to eat lunch there at least 2 days, and dinner once. So, I need to take the bus at least 3 times.

I believe this is true of most resorts. Getting to DTD seems to be the biggest pain as far as the buses. I can't really help you with this, however. DH and I rent a car and we drive everywhere--including DTD. I wonder if it might not be wiser to get a cab for one of those visits?

I just wanted to jump in to say we have generally found the DTD buses to be the longest wait at almost every resort...except, oddly enough, POP.

Just give yourself plenty of time - more than you think you'll need. Or as Kathy suggested, a cab would easy, esp if you have an ADR.

We always use the buses though. Have fun!! :)

Can anyone tell me exactly what toiletrie items you get in your room (i.e. shampoo, conditioner, shower soap, etc.)? We leave in 2 weeks and I really don't want to bring excess of liquid items. Thanks

You get shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and bars of facial soap and bath soap. The shampoo and conditioner is separate (not a 2-in-1 gunk). The products are by H2O and are pretty good quality.

Re: buses to DTD.

We've gotten to DTD in a variety of ways and I always think it takes too long!

From POFQ: we took the boat that everyone says is so easy. I thought it was loud and took too long.
From SSR: we took the boat and waited quite awhile for it. It was fairly quick.
From WL: we took the bus and it went the most bass-ackwards way. We went from WL to GF (!?!?) then all the way back by the WL and FW, to get there.
From CSR: we took the bus and I don't think it made any other stops on the way but it was not what I'd call quick.

Leaving DTD, we've taken the bus back to CSR several times and waited and waited and waited for our bus at the depot. Everyone was waiting, it seemed like. Those buses just do not run as often as the theme park buses. Then, the bus left DTD, went to TL to pick-up, then over to West Side (and we switched drivers?) before heading back to CSR.

I would not plan to eat at DTD three times without having a car at my disposal, *no matter where I was staying.*

Hi all i just had to come share. I booked our 2nd Thanksgivng trip to CSR today!!!1 Yea! Hubby started a new job in Jan. so we were not sure if he could get time off, but it looks like it is a go!:banana::banana:
(sorry for the bananna overkill. Over on the disboutique thread there is a 3 bananna minimum!)

Normally, you get the shampoo, conditioner, lotion and soap. When we were there in September we also got mouth wash, toothbrush, solar gel...but we were also upgraded to a suite. I'm not sure what has been in the new rooms...but you can count on the shampoo, conditioner, lotion and soaps.

I have to agree with this! Every resort we have stayed at, going to DTD has been the longest wait.

not to be totally anal but I have a question about the hair dryers at CSR....

are they the small, kind of weak ones that all the other resorts have? I'm trying to figure out if I need to bring my dryer from home. My hair is really thick and takes forever to dry, I use an 1875 watt dryer at home and it doesn't take as long with that one but most hotels have very weak hair dryers and leave my hair half wet which 10 minutes later turns into a big frizz ball. My home dryer isn't all that big so taking it wouldn't be too big of a hassle but I'd like to leave it at home and have just that much more luggage space for souvies!

I hated the dryers they are the standard hotel ones. My hair is short and fine and it took forever. I would bring my own.

We're back!

CSR was beautiful, and we got our requested room in Cabana 8A.

My girls, 5 and 7, loved the playground and pool! They enjoyed it a lot more than POR's. My DH stated he liked the theming better than POR. The busses were better. We never had to stand, and except for once, we only waited five to ten minutes.

The downside for us was PM. The food was good, but it was hard to navigate with two kids. We ate here twice, and I thought it was a good value on the meal plan, but it was very confusing, and hard to do. We all wanted different lines, which required multiple stamps. The kids food was cold by the time our food was cooked. We got it to go, and ate outside both days. That was very enjoyable.

Overall, we would stay there again.

Welcome, back! We are going to CSR for the first time in late August, and were planning to request Cabana 8a, also. We have two boys, 6 and 8, and being near the main pool is fairly important to us, but we don't want them to complain about a 20 minute walk to the Pepper Market/main building either.

How did you find that location with two kids in that age range?

And what kind of view did you have?

Thanks!

Here are a few more from our trip last week.

Not cancelling yet, but may have to. Balance of trip is not due until August 6, but DH has received his third pay cut in as many years and with tuition, etc., we may have to give it up this year. We'll have to see what the spring/summer brings us as far as my husband's second job--umping baseball games and how many he gets in with the weather, etc. I'm not giving up yet...but it doesn't look too promising.

Fingers crossed for you KAT! I was contemplating canceling our trip also to save $$ but then I booked the flights, so I guess we'll be in Orlando anywway--might as well be WDW right?! LOL

I always stay at POP. Never had a problem going to DTD, within 20 minutes. But, umm, ok. Does anyone know how much round trip cab fare costs to get to DTD from CSR. I am set on eating there, and maybe taking in a movie.

wow, great photos Dannzzz - sorry if I mispelled your name, but I did want to say I loved your pictures. We haven't stayed yet at CSR, but we had planned to stay there in one of the club rooms in January 09 (which for business reasons are not being offered any longer) and we were offered an upgrade, so we stayed instead at the Poly - which was great! During our trip, we just had to visit CSR to see what we had missed, and I was very impressed with the property! CSR really is as lovely as your pictures! Next trip we are planning to stay at CSR! Now, if I could figure out how to pay for it:rotfl:!!!
