If so - we spotted him early June at the resort .... and he has a friend! Yup, there were two small alligators up near the Laguna bar....

My kids were going nuts... we'd seen one there before last October, but this time we saw two of them at the same time!

Yep, Glen is at the CSR. I'm so glad he has a friend (or brother or sister)!!!!

Sounds like you had a lovely trip, how great that the mousekeeper was so fun. :-) Did you hear the people above you much? I tend to ask for a top floor room as a matter of course. I have a shoe organizer left over from our cruise a few years ago (worked great in a tiny bathroom), what a great idea for a "regular" vacation--thanks for making me think of it.

The organizer was AWESOME. And one of the stuffed animals "hid" in it when they played hide n seek!

We didn't hear the people above us at ALL. In fact, I never even thought about the fact that there were people above us. Our next door neighbors however...my husband had to go ask them to quiet down. They were young kids ( I presume part of a two room setup with the parents in a separate room.) It was midnight and there was a lot of screaming and door slamming. But it was midnight and we were trying to get to sleep. It was their first night there and it was exciting. They quieted right down for us.

Thanks for the link to your trip report. I've read your first posts and it is a great report so far. Can't wait to read more. Your boys are very cute...and I'm glad dinner got better as the night went on with the characters.

...From the Poly to CSR:goodvibes
We have free dining :cool1: and are saving $1200 by changing resorts. We are booked in a king room and are there for our 25th. I would like to request a quieter room near one of the quiet pools, ground floor ( do they have patios?) Any suggestions? If I send in our room request is there still a chance to get an upgrade?

Thanks everyone:hippie:

Congratulations on your 25th. We spent our 25th anniversary at the CSR last year. We've stayed at the Poly in the past and, as much as I love it, I must say I really prefer the CSR--I find it more quiet and it has a hot tub and spa which the Poly does not have.

The only upgrade you could get since you are paying for a king room is either a water view or possibly a suite (we were upgraded to a junior suite for our 25th in September). The Ranchos are probably the quietest because it is the last area people request. There is nothing WRONG with the Ranchos, they are set back from the main walk around the resort and a little farther walk to the main building. Our personal favorite is Casitas 5 and we've had a first floor there. We had a lake view the last time in Casitas 5 on the first floor and when I walked out my door and down the steps I could go lay in "my" hammock. :)

Thanks!
A hammock view sounds heavenly! So do they accomodate requests when you fax them in? Or should we wait till we check in and ask at that time?

I know that walking on property is largely not an option and while maps can be deceiving, I couldn't help but notice how close CSR is to Blizzard Beach and the mini-golf. Is there any way to walk from one to the other? TIA

Thanks!

Everything is just a request...and not a guarantee. I always mark where I want to stay on my reservation and then fax the request again three days prior to arrival. You can always ask when you get there if they don't assign you to the section you wanted if there is anything available where you want to be. If there is, they try to be very accommodating.

Thanks for the info. I can't wait for our trip:yay:
I'll keep reading this board to get more info and trip reports. I frequent the food porn thread too!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We stayed at CSR from June 24-26 for the first time and it was great! When we checked in, we were given the exact building we had requested (Casitas 4). The room was very close to bus stop #2 and the pool. It was beautiful! The food court set up was kind of weird. That was the only thing we didn't like. The food itself was great, though. We met a lot of nice CMs and chatted like crazy. The lady at check-in talked to us for about 20 minutes! The bus service was really good. Overall we had a wonderful time! :lovestruc

Thanks for letting us know about your stay at CSR. So glad that you enjoyed your time there. :)

I don't think walking is a good idea. You would have to cross a major road and there is no sidewalk (I think to discourage walking) The bus ride is really quick though! Mabye 5 min.

How was your room at Casitas 4?...We put in the same request...Any pictures?

The main reason though is simply that I really dislike the desert theming over there. That's more of a personal issue though. I'm from Texas and just really don't care to see that hot, desert theming during the heat of late Sept/early Oct when I'm there. If I want to see cactus and adobe buildings, I can see as many as I want within a few miles of my home.

How funny - I'm from upstate NY and the desert theme is what I liked about the Ranchos. I can see why that theme wouldn't be very vacation like and different to you! Thanks for your reply. It helps to hear what people don't like about a section almost more than hearing what they do like. We won't get refillable mugs and plan to spend every afternoon at the Dig Site. We will have a car and plan to go to the grocery store for drinks and snacks. All the "negatives" for you are actually positive for us.

Does anyone know which building have/have not been redone at this point?? That is a big factor in what building we are going to request.

All of the Cabanas; all but one building in the Ranchos (they should be finishing up the last one soon if they haven't already); Casitas 4 and 5 are done; the 4th floor of Casitas 1, 2 and 3 are done. This leaves the first three floors of Casitas 1, 2 and 3.

Ranchos 7A is now complete. Therefore ALL of the Cabanas are done and ALL of the Ranchos are done. Casitas 2 is now down for its rehab and will be down for the entire month for the rehab. That will leave the rest of Casitas 1 and 3 after 2 is done (Casitas 4 and 5 are complete).

Does anyone know what the service charge is to have a case of water shipped from Costco/how to have it addressed?

I know all of this is on here somewhere, but I can't find it now. When I originally read it we were planning to drive...just decided to FLY!

TIA! :goodvibes

We are from Western New York and actually enjoyed the theming of this resort as well. We stayed in Ranchos 7A and thought it was so relaxing and beautiful.
