Hi everyone,
I'm Laurie and I have a question about room requests. When I booked our trip for 11/26/09-12/4/09 I thought I wanted to stay in the Rancho section. It looks so beautiful to me, I love the landscape but........the more I visit here and read (I'm an obsessive planner:scared1:) I'm not sure if I should just roll the dice and let them put me wherever they please or request the Rancho section:eek:. I would like to be close to the Dig site and a bus stop nothing else really matters to us, I usually take long walks while everyone else is asleep so the main building is of no concern to us.
Can anyone give me some suggestions I am stressing myself out and my trip is still 6 months away:scared1:
Thanks so much!!!
Laurie
By the way, I visit this thread all the time but I think I've only posted once maybe. You are all so helpful.:thumbsup2

On our recent trip we were in Cabanas 8B and loved that location. We were very close to the bus stop and the Dig Site, and the "main" building was a short walk. My DS enjoyed the hammocks and sandy area. Cabanas 8A is also a good location if you want to be close to the Dig Site and the bus stop.

This was our 1st time staying at CSR .....one evening we took a walk around the entire resort and I thought all the sections were nice. However, if we return (which I hope we do!):) I would request Cabanas 8A or 8b, or Casitas 4 or 5.

Me and my wife (as of Saturday, haha), are currently in Cabanas 8B thru next Sunday. It's AMAZING. Got to the resort at around 10:45, went to Magic Kingdom at about 1pm after lunch @ Pepper Market (a lot of food for 1 CS coupon). Got a LOT done at MK: Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Splash Mtn, Haunted Mansion, Philharmagic, Buzz Lightyear (with fastpasses given to us by other newlyweds), fastpass Big Thunder Mtn, Disney railroad. And we'll probably be back there on 2 other days, haha.

The room is very nice. Got back to Resort and ordered Papa John's for dinner; watched the whole Red Wings game (another win, yay!) and enjoyed the pool/sauna at the Dig Site in between periods. Cabanas 8B is so close to everything! Bus stop, quiet/feature pool, and a nice walk to El Centro.

I love this board; thanks for all the tips from everyone. I even left my Unofficial Guide at home by mistake, but I read it cover-to-cover before coming. :D

aaaah! Congratulations! Have a great trip!

We're just back from Shades of Green. On our way out, my oldest said, "Mom, can we stay at Coronado Springs again next time?"

We liked Shades OK, but CSR is really our favorite!

Thanks for all the info in this thread.

We recently returned from a very wet stay and really enjoyed CSR.

We stayed at Pop Century for 7 nights (with the buy4/get3 deal) and then spent 4 nights at CSR. We stayed at Pop last year for our first trip and had a great time, but as soon as we arrived at CSR all my DH could say was that it was like a completely different vacation. I thought the kids would have enjoyed Pop more (two preschoolers and one 10yo), but they just kept saying how much they prefered our "new hotel". Unfortunately I was looking at this as our ONE opportunity to stay at CSR... baby is turning 3 so we will need two rooms in the future. I think the rest of my family has decided for me that we will have to wait a few years and go for fewer days so we can stay at CSR again. :upsidedow

We did not get the section or room we wanted, but that had no impact on our love for the resort. (I did not make a request because we weren't sure exactly what we wanted and we're not too picky.) We packed up our van and drove over from Pop in the morning and at check-in our room-- first floor Casitas 2-- was ready so we took it. Casitas was the only section I wasn't really interested in, it was an old room, and they were re-doing the landscaping outside our door. But we were still very happy.

Busses: We exclusively use busses at Disney and quickly found that it was very nice to be near Bus Stop 2. Every morning (EMH parks) our bus never made it to all the stops. The first day we didn't even pick up 1/3 of the people at the second stop. Some of the people at our stop were not from our section of the resort, but prefered to walk to our stop rather than wait longer at their own. We had a good experience with the bus service, but I'm not sure how it would be in the other sections. One positive was that most of the stops at the parks for CSR are closer to the entrance/exit. (At MK CSR is the closest stop, Pop is the farthest.)

The resort is large, but not nearly as much walking as I was expecting. I thought we would need a room close to the main pool, but it was just a short walk. My kids loved the pool and the playground. Fortunately we saw a bit of sun our last few days and were able to enjoy them.

Thanks for the review, glad you enjoyed CSR. Sorry you didn't get to stay in one of the newer renovated rooms, I'm sure your family would of enjoyed it even more.

Just Got Back.... A Magical Trip.
here is some info and tips for people planning to go to this super great resort....

Extra tips...
1.All of your counter service credits are mixed between children and adults. You don't have to order your children chicken nuggets for the 100 time for your child. You can order any counter service you want. We shared plenty of meals and had alot of meals left over at the end of the trip.
2. Cereal and milk is TWO counter services. One for each.
3. You get 2 drinks with a breakfast. So, we ordered the waffle meal.. which came with 2 drinks, so we got 2 milks and then used snack credits for our cereal. We were able to get extra value out of that.
4. Best place to eat is Wolfgang Puck express on the meal plan. You get extra bang for the buck there. It is a counter service, but you get waiter service. We left a tip each time we ate there. It was so yummy.
5. Meal plan is necessary if staying at the CSR. Or you will go broke at the Pepper Market.

Can someone explain the part about mixing counter service credits? We're on the Quick Service dining plan and our DD7 is not a fan of "kids" food.

Also - is it true that a bowl of cereal and milk counts as two meals??? My DS3 will eat through our 6 days of meals before I know it!

First trip to CSR and Disney w/my family & kids in 20 days!

I just had to say it - 23 days until a quick trip with my DS!!!! Its a Bible Quizzing competition that has also turned into a Disney trip (sneaky aren't I). I wasn't excited at first to be there during a crowded time - but I must have lost my mind - its an extra trip to DISNEY!

One question a little OT - Our flight leaves at 8:20 a.m. Will ME still pick us up - I'm guessing it will be extremely early.

Yes ME runs from 5AM, most likely you'll get picked up between 5-5:30.

Milk and creal is not 2 counter service credits. A counter service is a an entree, dessert and a drink. It may have been 2 snack credits....but not 2 counter.
When we were at POP in aug my DD was addicted to the porridge and it was only a snack credit.

That is exactly right.

Milk= (1) snack credit
Cereal = (1) snack credit

But why have cereal when you can enjoy a yummy cheese danish? Or a Blueberry muffin? Or heck, even a Mickey bar.....its vacation after all!!!:rotfl2:

We are leaving in 3 days! Yipeeee:cool1: but now I am in panic mode:scared1:. My boss and his family (3 kids with 1 in a stroller) just got back from CSR and actually checked out early because they said that their walk to the pool and to Pepper Market was so far and they were in the Cabana section! Is the walk really THAT bad?? I have originally requested a room in the Cabana section, but now I am worried since it is one of the last stops on the bus route. It does not help that we have never been to WDW in early June so I do not know what to expect crowd wise. I am thinking I may add Casita 4 or 4 to my request....Oh now I am worried!:confused3 Suggestions please!!!

First, do not panic! We stayed in Cabanas 8A and loved it. It was a very short walk to the pool and maybe 10 minutes to the main building at a slow pace with kids in tow. Yes, it is a large resort but so are most Disney resorts. We had a longer walk to the pool at the Poly and longer walk to the bus stop at WL compared to CSR. I don't think there are any locations where you will not have to do some walking. If people go to Disney expecting not to walk, they will be dissapointed in my opinion. I can't speak for the busses in June, but we did not have trouble in April. Some days people had to stand, but everyone fit. Have a great trip!

Crystal, take a deep breath! You will be fine. As jlcd stated, we've had a longer walk from our room at the CR to get to the pool than we have at the CSR. My best friend stayed at the AKL and went to the CSR every day for a lawyer convention (he signed up too late and could not stay at CSR, so he stayed at AKL). He told me that the walk from his room at the AKL to the pool took him longer than it took him to walk from the CSR convention center to the Ranchos section of the resort (where he walked with one of his colleagues). And the Ranchos section is where nobody wants to stay at the CSR because they say it is too far from everything!

Although we've never stayed in the Cabanas, it is not that long of a walk to the main building or the main pool. Perhaps your boss just doesn't like walking? I don't know. But I think, Crystal, that you will be fine.

Im recently changed our September reservation to CSR !! We requested Casitas 4 or 5 because I read that it tends to be quieter there. We are staying for our honeymoon for 8 days and Im wondering... are the casitas renovated or is all the pictures that you see just cabanas??

All of the rooms at the CSR will look like the new pictures you have seen once the renovation is complete (that incluedes Cabanas, Ranchos and Casitas).

Ok, I feel better now....I just needed to be reassured that all would be fine. My bosses wife is a bit of a snob so I think that may have been the issue. We have stay at the Swan, CR, PORS, The All Stars and Pop.....surely we will be fine here! Nothing like the walk at the Value resorts!!!

You'll be fine! Your boss could tote those kids around the parks all day but checked out early because the walk was too far? Ummm, okay, boss!
