:woohoo:I'm so excited-this time tomorrow I'll be there-seeing it up close for myself-i cant wait-this day it taking forever!:woohoo:

As far as Allie/Bill, I wonder why they didn't go ahead and remove him when they took his parents?:confused3 Poor little fella is an orphan (and no Kathy I don't want to adopt him).lol

Oh no...... now I am very sad for him:sad2: Poor little orphan Alligator :sad1:

An orphan alligator? Hey, that is sad! Poor baby - wonder ho old he was when his parents were taken away.

I'll still keep my distance, thank you. ;)

Hey everyone!

My sister and I will be staying here July 18-21, celebrating a birthday! We originally were booked at AS Music but last minute decisions and a date change that limited availability forced us to switch to CSR. I'd imagine (based on what I've read so far) we won't be disappointed by this switch.

The amount of information here is a little overwhelming, especially trying to filter through it to get my specific questions answered. I'm hoping someone here can help me out.

What building should we request? Normally we like to be located close to a bus stop (preferably not the last stop on route) located away from the pool but close to the main building. Will any location in the resort fit these requests?

On the map, CSR looks really close to Animal Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios. We will have our own car but may or may not drive it all the time. How long will it take us to drive to the theme parks? Magic Kingdom specifically. We have an EARLY 7:15am Chef Mickey's breakfast and want to make sure we give ourselves enough time to get there.

How are the on-site restaurants? Are there a wide variety of choices?

Renovations? I've been reading a lot about some renovations going on. Should we make sure to request a renovated room? Will there be construction noise during our stay?

Any other tips are greatly appreciated! TIA :thanks:

Two questions as we are heading to CSR the end of August...

1st - near the pool do they do the fake tatoos for kids?

2nd - thinking of requesting Cabana area - are both 8 and 9 close to a bus stop?

lisa

First I wanted to say that you guys have made me so excited with all your positive comments and wonderful photos. :thumbsup2 I can't wait to get to CS! This is the first time that I am just as excited to go to the resort as I am the parks!

Any way here is my question:

Does anyone have any idea how long it takes the bus to get from CS to each park? And how often do the buses run (like every 30 min?)? Sorry - I guess that was 2 questions. :) Thanks! ~ Melissa

Our favorite section is the Casitas, specifically Casitas 4 or 5. Both are near the quiet pool, laundry room and the fitness center/spa. Also very close to Bus Stop 2...which is the first stop for pick up/drop off. It is about a five minute walk to the main building where you will find registration, restaurants, shop and the new lounge.

DH and I drive to all the parks. It takes us about five minutes to AKL and the Studios, five to seven minutes to Epcot and about 10 minutes or so to the MK (don't forget though that you still have to either walk from parking to TTC or take tram and then catch monorail to Contemporary for Chef Mickeys). Here is the bus schedule and estimated time:

Hollywood Studios - 6 min ride once leaving resort
AK - 6 min ride once leaving resort
MK - 10 min ride once leaving resort
Epcot - 7 min ride once leaving resort

The Pepper Market has a great variety of food (several different stations). You can actually get a rib eye steak for a counter service credit if you are on the dining plan for dinner. If you are on the dining plan, it is a great deal. If you are not on the dining plan, it is expensive for counter service. We've only done breakfast at Maya Grill and it is a buffet--no better, no worse than any other Disney buffet. I understand the dinner menu changed as of the first of this month. It has received a mixed bag of reviews.

Yes, the renovations are going on and will continue until (through) October 09. I do not believe you will have any problem with noise. They do not start too early in the a.m. and are usually done by 5:00 p.m. They are basically removing furniture, carpet, drapes and bathroom counter, and replacing all of it with all new. They are also inserting sliding doors in place of the curtain seperating the bathroom from the bedroom area.

Be sure to take a walk around the resort at night after the sun has gone down and enjoy the beauty of the resort. It is simply stunning. Especially walk around the Casitas in the courtyards with all the fountains. Simply breathtaking. Also, relax in the hammock by the Casitas or one of the hammocks in the Cabana section with a nice :drinking1. You also might want to get a massage while there. Very relaxing and it really helps me for the end of the trip afte rall the walking at the parks.

But most of all--enjoy!

They do not do the tattoos by the pool.

The Cabana area has a bus stop between it and the Ranchos -- this is the third pick up within the resort.

I'm arriving tomorrow too!

Crossing my fingers for a nice room and that I don't meet "Glen" or his parents.

"Glen" is harmless...and just very cute. I hope you get a new room too!

Here is estimated bus times:

Hollywood Studios 6 min ride once leaving resort
AK - 6 min ride once leaving resort
MK - 10 min ride once leaving resort
Epcot - 7 min ride once leaving resort

We don't use the buses...we rent a car. I believe those who have used hte buses said about every 20 minutes.

Thanks to all of you! Just back Tuesday and had a great time! We stayed in Cabanas 9123 and it was a newly renovated room. The beds were so comfortable. The room was clean, although a previous guest already damaged the top of the dresser with probably nail polish remover! The sliding doors were a cool feature, and the two square ottomans are easy to place where you want them. I didn't realize how we would miss not having a table, as the desk didn't really work well to eat on. We rented a car so we got a few groceries and that was handy. We were just around the corner to the quiet pool and a short walk to the main pool. The quiet pool was always occupied by older adults being quiet, so we just went to the main pool. We last stayed in the Casita 1, on the 4th floor facing the parking lot in DEC 08, and I was amazed how different of feel the resort had from this location. Not better or worse, just completely different! Coronado is such a gorgeous resort. I think it's my favorite. Maybe because I still get shampoo AND conditioner! We were bummed that the pool slide closed at 8pm, but loved that the hot tub was available! We took the bus only one day (to MK, and then closed MK at 2am!) Needless to say, the bus was not crowded! What a great time we had. Parks were packed, but we used fast passes and our hoppers. (Thought it was off- peak???) I love that all of this information about Coronado Springs is right here. I learned a ton from all of you! Thanks!:thumbsup2:cloud9::love::grouphug:

Welcome back! So glad you had another great stay at the CSR and you got a renovated room and everything. Thanks for reporting. Any pictures to share?

As the CSR fans are super supportive, I felt like I could share that I got a call a few hours ago that my grandfather passed away tonight. We have a trip planned in less than two weeks. It was peaceful and he had been sick for a while. We took out trip insurance because his health was poor. I believe the funeral will be this weekend or early next week. Would it be insensitive to keep our plans and go? I have been really looking forward to this trip, but sort of feel like happiness and excitement are not the right things to feel right now. Would anyone cancel?

Sorry if this is rambling and ridiculous - it has been a rough night.

I'm so sorry Katiejo

Please remember that there is no right or wrong way to grieve. Sometimes a celebrtion of life is more apt for certain situations. Go, enjoy every moment you have with your family, and remember your Grandfather as you watch the fireworks explode.

katiejo, last Dec they gave my dad about two weeks to live, which would have put him dying on Christmas Eve. I had a cruise planned that left Jan 10th. I went back and forth about canceling, but my mom wouldn't hear of it and reminded me that we have no way of knowing when someone is going to draw their last breath. My dad was discharged from the hospital, went back to the nursing home, and was placed on hospice. He decided to go back to eating, got better, and lived until March 10th. This Sunday will be two months since he died. I almost decided to cancel my trip to Disney this next week, but again my mom wouldn't hear of it and told me to go celebrate life. We are both having a really hard time letting my dad go. It just seems like he is still here. I plan to go to Magic Kingdom, buy one of those large balloons, then take it over to the wishing well beside the castle, and let it go for him.

Ask yourself what your grandfather would tell you to do. You can still grieve in Disney, but you can also celebrate his life. What kind of health was he in before he died? If he was in really poor health (like my dad) would you really wish him back or is he in a better place and finally at peace? We may miss them and grieve for them, but are they really happier now? Remember they will always be with us and a part of us, no matter where we are.

Thanks. You're right. He would want me to take my son and celebrate life. He was 92. Not in good health, but not on his deathbed either. My dad said that he wanted to spend Mother's Day with my grandmother who passed 10 years ago last month. He had remarried and I am positive he wouldn't have wanted to go in her home. He was at the hospital being treated for dehydration when he passed. I will find a way to honor him while in Disney. Reconsider letting a balloon go. I have heard that they can sometimes float into bodies of water and marine life eats them and can kill them. Perhaps you can give it to a child. That is what I will do. I will buy a balloon and give it to a small child. That is something my grandfather would have done. He was one of the most generous people I knew. Thanks for the idea.

That is a very sweet gesture! I am sorry for your loss:goodvibes Your grandfather sounds like he was a fantastic human being! Go, celebrate his life and know that he will be looking down and revel in your joy!:goodvibes

Now i'm torn where to request Cabanas (my original) or Casitas...seems so many love this as well...

it will be me, dH and our 2 sons whom are 7 & 9! we'll probably swim a few times during our stay, eat at the Pepper market a few mornings - do laundry 1x and take the buses all the time - what do you think would be the best location for us? want our room to open up to a balcony of some sort...no elevators

Sorry if this is rambling and ridiculous - it has been a rough night.

Katiejo, in 2007 my father was diagnosed with cancer (cholangiocarcinoma - bile duct and liver cancer). He was 83. He resigned himself to take treatment until it made him so sick that he said he'd had enough. Anyway, we kept asking if he wanted us to cancel the trip, and he kept saying No. We were scheduled to leave on Dec. 7, and my dad passed away on Nov. 27. His funeral was on Dec. 2, and we kept our trip. My dad wanted us to, he kept reminding me that life is for the living and that we should not dwell in his passing but to rejoice in his going home. He also wanted us to remember him living and to let his grandchildren enjoy the place that they love so much and know that he was with us in spirit. I miss my dad every single day, and there isn't one day that I don't stop and think about him. But knowing how he felt that trip will always mean something to me. Was I sad while I was there, yes; was I sad that he was gone, yes; and did my trip have a bit of I don't want to be there, yes; but for my kids it was the best thing we could have done. They needed some fun, they had lost their grandpa who meant the world to them. So, I say, search your heart, I am sure you will come up with an answer that we make you feel good about whatever you do. I'm glad we went, my kids and I needed to be there, it helped heal a little.
