Brainstorming transportation for family of 8 - Sanford airport and Universal Resort stay at Christmas

Hi there.

Group is 8 people. We are arriving Christmas Eve to Sanford Airport and staying at Cabana Bay. We will be doing an assortment of Sea World, Universal and (hopefully brief) shopping excursions for groceries, etc.

I have looked at uber, limo, towncar, taxi, car rental, i-ride/lynx but it seems like our group is a tricky size. We may go flashy with our airport transportation but I'm stuck about what to do for the daily back and forths.

Wondering if anyone has any tips or ideas. I'm all ears. Eyes?

As a party of 10 a couple of years ago we rented two minivans. Having the two vans was also helpful if part of the group wanted to do something and the other part wanted to do something else.

I'd be inclined to rent a 12 passenger van, assuming any are available at all this late in the game. With luggage it should be doable, but bottom line is you're about 2 months out and it could be a real chalenge to find anythying. I think the idea of 2 mini vans makes sense, but cost could be pretty high.

For the daily back and forth, if you are willing/able to split up the group, two different people can order an UberXL or LyftXL.
You could try that with the rides to and from airport, but I would prefer a pre booked car service that can confirm space for luggage.

For Universal, use the provided buses to and from the parks. They are great.
There are generally Mears taxis standing by at the Universal hotels; they can get you to and from SeaWorld. They have large vans which could likely fit your entire party, in addition to sedans.
Universal hotels also all have Avis/Budget car rental locations on site; you should be able to get a rental from there if you want a car, if you book in advance.

I am someone who likes to plan so starting so late in the game is a nightmare to me.

AS Posted above Hire 2 cars & Do it soon as there is ( AS you should know there is

a Shortage of cars available ) a quick uptake for those dates.

Sanford would have a low inventory of cars anyway

Mears is operating the SuperStar Shuttle as of early this year, which is a welcome change. It's a much more similar service to DME now.
That said, OP could definitely book a private transfer with Mears from Sanford. They'll get the same level of service.
