Brad Bird Confirms The Incredibles 2 Is His Next Movie

While promoting Tomorrowland, director Brad Bird confirmed that his next film will be the long-awaited sequel to 2004's Disney-Pixar film The Incredibles.

Brad Bird wrote and directed the original and recently confirmed that he was hard at work putting the sequel together. How much of the script is done? “Oh yeah I have pages, a bunch of pages," Bird told Collider. "I had a lot of ideas for the original Incredibles that I didn’t get a chance to use, that I like. I have ideas that I wanted to pursue a little bit and there wasn’t enough time in Incredibles. There are new ideas I have, and I think there are enough of those together to make an interesting movie. I’m just focusing on getting Tomorrowland out into the world and playing with the Incredibles sandbox again.”

After Bird is done hitting the press circuit for Tomorrowland he can begin work on his next film. Will it be The Incredibles 2? Bird replied, “Yeah it feels like it to me, yeah.”

Well he said a month or two ago that he had just begun working on the script.

If there were ever a Pixar movie left wide open for a sequel, The Incredibles is it.

BEHOLD THE UNDERMINER!

11 years is a bit long in the tooth for a sequel, but it's still one of my favorites.

I'm so excited I love the incredibles, I'm not sure how accurate this is but I read that he wants to focus on the kids and how they have developed over the years.

I'm soooo looking forward to this movie. One can only hope that it packs the same punch as the first film. One of my favorite movie moments is the "I'm not strong enough scene". OMG That was incredible. Even back when I first watched it, it touched me...now that I'm a husband and father, it resonates with me even more.

Adventure aside...the original had a lot of heart (as it should, being a film about family).

Interesting. But I'm wondering why. IMHO, the Incredibles was fun, but not repeatable.

Really? Surely Marvel have shown that theres no upper-limit to how many times you can roll out a super-heroes franchise?

I'm quietly optimistic about this one.

Well, I'm not really a fan of the Marvel movies either. To me they are just a series of "lets see what we can destroy and how spectacularly" scenes strung together for a 75 minute stretch. But that's another conversation.
