BOULDER RIDGE VILLAS & COPPER CREEK VILLAS & CABINS: Wilderness Lodge DVC Expansion Thread

I'm from Scotland ( UK ) And although our vacation isn't until October next year, I've been keeping my eye on this work being carried out..We stayed at WL last year, our first deluxe resort vacation, and fell in love with it, even tho the main pool was closed for a refurb..We are up every morning at dawn, I mean 06.30am ( regimental type ) And zoom, we are off to the parks, so I didn't fancy moving, especially to AKL ( lovely resort but too far away from MK ) But reading on a UK site today, a couple of families were being offered a switch or a money credit offer..So I phoned today and accepted the $100 per day to spend on Disney property, that's a whopping shopping $1400 to our credit, plus the $200 gift voucher we received when we booked way back in April, along with free DDP, and the free memory maker, plus the 14 day park hopper for the price of 7 days..Now if that isn't magical, I don't know what is...

Sounds like a real good time! If we can get out of these tornado warnings we'll join ya'll. :)

:thumbsup2 I know! Not a good "weather morning" and dang, it got cold! :cold: Almost a 20 degree temperature drop from last night! NOAA radio woke me 3 times last night with warnings  but made it through just fine...ready to start packing! :wave2: See ya at the Lodge! :tink:

Wow want a great deal!!!! pixiedust: Enjoy your holiday!!

I remember when you stayed CL and you mentioned that he would have to run long distances everyday. Is he still running XC in college?

Yes! He just finished his 2nd collegiate season and did very well. ;). It's amazing the doors that has opened for him.

No ticker???:rolleyes1

I'm late with this cryptic NoC for "Interior Demo of Selective Areas," but I believe it's for the WL rooms that are being converted to DVC. Thus far, only 4 model rooms have been built, but it looks like others will follow soon. The attachments to this NoC are the same as for the original NoC (see POST 1) for the "Wilderness rehab," and include all the same architects, interior designers, etc…

If someone who is there now or going soon could check out the ground floor facing VWL in the South Wing and let us know if there's any activity in that corridor, we'd appreciate it. The model rooms are opposite each other (1136-1139) and look like this:

Sorry to go OT here everyone...

I'd like to think running around FW and WL was the key to his success;). Yes, tickerless:duck: as we're heading to a non-Disney location for Christmas and I'm still trying to figure out next years' plans since DD is graduating…she just got her college acceptance letter yesterday:). Are you off to the Smokies?

Morning of 11/18

Pool? What pool?!

Loving your photos and wishing you could post them everyday @theww228

Called member services at DVC to ask about memory maker or some compensation as others seem to have been given and was told they never gave anyone any compensation for this issue and I would have to contact the lodge directly and there is no record of anyone getting compensation for the construction. disappointing to say the least, but at least it is still disney

It wasn't member services giving anything out. I believe it was guest services or something like that. I believe there was number earlier in the thread. Also, it depends if you booked before or after the announcement.

Hi everyone. I am considering renting Dvc points at the WL villas. Does anyone know if the construction will be located near the villas? Also, I won't be going until next fall. Does anyone know if the construction will be somewhat completed by then?

Thanks for any help.

It's mostly in the area of the Villas, moreso than the main Lodge. Right now, they've torn up the entire pool area behind the Villas. They're also building bungalows on the beach, and have closed off the playground, bike rental and nature trail behind the Villas. Construction is already planned to go into 2017, and given that the Poly construction (which also included bungalows and the quiet pool) has gone beyond projections, it's a safe bet the projects will be ongoing next fall.

If you look at this map, K is the Villas. I, J, Playground and Nature Trail are no longer open and are a construction zone.

I was given some extra fast passes as compensation, dvc member. I'm a little concerned because nothing shows on our accounts yet.

We received those too. They showed up as a FP on the days we were booked to stay but they were there almost immediately. We also received Memory Maker but that took a couple of weeks to receive an email with a code to link.

Thanks so much. That made up my mind, lol. I am going to book somewhere else next year instead. Maybe the following year I'll consider renting at WL.

That's interesting. CM told me the fastpasses would be given to me when I check-in. Now I wonder??? I guess I'll find out in 17 sleeps.

Returned last night with a few construction photos I'll post later. Construction was NO issue...and our room view included the torn up area that was once the Villas pool. There were a few times we heard the "beep~beep~beep" of the equipment but that was mid-afternoon when we were back for a break between parks. The rest of the Lodge was "business as normal". I would have no problem staying in the main Lodge area since construction is now almost 100% Villas area. DD and DGD's were in the Villas and they also had no complaints. The only "problem" might be room views and minimal construction daytime noise if staying in the resort rooms facing the Villas...or the MK. But again, mainly just the room "views". Love this resort property! While others didn't like the idea when the trees were cleared around the boat area, I found I really DID like the new "look". Got some beautiful sunrise photos there and you can now see more of the lake activity, etc. Again, will post photos when I get them sorted and moved into my Photobucket library. :tink:

Thank you for your post - I'm glad that your stay went well. We will be staying in the villas in Jan. Based on what you saw, do you have any thoughts on which villa room locations would be least disrupted? Thank you.

Inner core with rooms backing the bus loading area. DD had a perfect room on the 4th floor, entering from the center 2 doors from elevator. I did not see her room view during the day but she told me looking directly to her right was the walkway to the bus. I'm not sure of the entire layout of the Villas but I would think any room "backing" the bus loading area would be perfect. :thumbsup2 The noise may possibly be worse as the project gets into full swing but for January I'd think that area would be a safe bet. Good luck. :tink:

We received fast passes as well. I can see them in MDE but I'm a little confused about what to do with them. My understanding was that we could just walk up to a ride and use them at our choosing. But I'm a little skeptical of that. I've booked our other FP's for each day, but I haven't done anything with these yet.
