BOULDER RIDGE VILLAS & COPPER CREEK VILLAS & CABINS: Wilderness Lodge DVC Expansion Thread

Sorry if this has been asked before (tried to read through all 81 pages, but didn't make it), but any plans for adding DVC club level rooms?

Actually, it's unknown whether they plan to put in club level for the new DVC resort. Points for and against doing so have been made, but currently Disney isn't saying and likely won't until they open the new units for purchase.

P.S. Check out the DVC website. The name is officially changed for VWL. . .though I will always call it VWL. https://disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com/destinations/list/

I don't believe there will be DVC CL rooms like AKL. Nice job catching the name change and here is the announcement:

Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge – name change becomes official Oct. 25

So does this mean that the amount of CL rooms will stay as they are now? That would make it nice to stay there but maybe tough to get a room.

I thought I would mention that only one elevator in the villas is operating right now. It hasn't been a big deal, just FYI.

Wasn't AKL the first Deluxe to convert to DVC, then Poly, and now WL?

Personally I count BLT as one as well. Even though they didn't utilize the existing structure, they did reduce the number of deluxe resort rooms and replace them with DVC.

I agree. I don't see enough upside to doing CL rooms at DVC resorts.

I actually am inclined to think they will have the 7th floor DVC rooms be CL. It's something they can use to help market the new DVC and they know how popular the AKL DVC concierge rooms have been.

I'm also thinking this is a good possibility. The same reasons for having the Concierge apply here too with the rooms being on the same floor as the lounge.

If we get 1-bedroom WL units in the main lodge, with the added bonus of a club level option, it's going to be very hard for me to resist adding on.

Last week we were talking to Ranger Jack and another CM and they said the entire south side of the building is being taken over by DVC, including the rooms in the lobby area. So half of the 728 rooms will be DVC. However, looking at floor plans there appear to be a few more rooms on the cash side than on the DVC side, I don't know if that is true on all floors. All of it is blocked off from view, including the lobby.

It will be interesting if the 7th floor club level rooms will be CL for the Copper Creek. There are definitely more of CCCV CL rooms than the number of AKV CL rooms. WL CL guests are being told that the Old Faithful Club will return to the original location (currently using the Yosemite suite) after the DVC villas opens. Of course no one officially told them that.

Ranger Jack is correct;). However, the new OFC lounge will be located in the two Honeymoon Suites in the North Wing. I hope you had a great visit to WL!

We are tentatively planning a stay at WL at the end of next year. We've been twice and love it! We've always requested "north wing, upper floor" and were lucky enough to watch the MK fireworks from our balcony. I'm assuming this is still possible after the expansion? It looks like they've put cabins on that side of the north wing, but I imagine they don't block the view over to MK. Am I correct?

ETA: Do you think the expansion will drastically affect crowds at WL in November 2017?

I don't think that the cabins will block the view since they are lower than the trees around them. And the cabins are set forward near the water. Most of them are some distance from the resort building.

It is only 24 cabins of additional people since I would think the amount of people that the new DVC units would hold would equal out to be about the same number than had been in the resort rooms. This is just pure speculation at this point, though. If the new buildings on the beach contain a restaurant that replaces Roaring Forks then that would be great and would ease the breakfast congestion that has always been a problem at this resort.

hi all,

is the construction noisy enough that it would wake you early if you're staying in a standard room?

No, not at all. I was in a standard lake view Villa and the workers don't really arrive until between 7-8 am. There was a small amount of noise midday, but nothing bothersome. The electric parade on the lake at 9pm is far louder than anything the workers were doing.

We are staying in a DVC deluxe studio in January. Do we go to the main Wilderness Lodge lobby for check-in or is there a specific location for DVC check-in?
