BOULDER RIDGE VILLAS & COPPER CREEK VILLAS & CABINS: Wilderness Lodge DVC Expansion Thread

ANY idea what the new DVC price point will be and when sales may open?
**Price point: It's safe to assume they'll be in line with PVB, at least for any new studios. If there are 1BR/2BR options, my guess is they'll be a touch below VGF. The common thought was cabins would be less than the Poly bungalows since WL doesn't sit on the monorail; however, the cabins appear to be quite large based on the several photos on various threads (Grand Villas?) so the possibility exists even those could approach the bungalow price points (though I think they'll still be less). Again, as KOOK, KAT, and others have said, this is mere speculation on anyone's part (including my own) as no official word has been issued. Open for sales: Again, unknown. Could be early next year or maybe not for another year plus. My money is on later rather than sooner.

**The comments contained within are merely a talking head's notion of what he thinks. . .and he's been known to be wrong. Just ask his wife. pirate:

Thanks for the insight. Any idea where the DVC buy in may fall? Less than, equal to, or more than the current Aulani or Poly?

New DVC resort pricing doesn't tend to reverse course, so my guess is that they'll be at least on par with Poly and likely slightly more. There has been lots of speculation but I'm figuring in the $170-$175 range. Again, I'm just a lone voice with no real insight other than past history.

Hard to be wrong if you aren't trying to be right so speculate all you'd like here. You might just end up being right and then you can tell your DW about that time you were right on the DISboards;)

I will frame that sucker!! lol

Here's some WL pics from today. In the early morning they had the lights on in the South wing, so you could see through the construction scrim. There is a lot of work going on, as we knew.

I also got to do some exploring around the lobby. I was surprised to see that the bridge and sitting area on the fifth floor above the main lobby entrance is closed off. You can still get to the sitting areas and fireplace below it on the 4th floor.

You also can't get to the outside balcony area above the port cochere, since the door is on the South side behind the close off wall.

At the east end of the lobby, towards bay lake, the sitting areas and public patio are not accessible, so there isn't anywhere within the building that is publicly accessible that has a nice Bay lake view.

Thanks for the picture. I was very curious as to what was happening inside the south wing. I am surprised that they aren't further along inside that wing. That has been torn up for a long time.

I guess their estimate of having the south wing open by this December was way off. ;)

They have added a more permanent looking door since we were there. I don't know why they would close off that sitting area and leave the one below it open.

I was very disappointed that they had closed off these balconies when we were there in January. :(

Im still concerned about the upper they are through with the construction. We pay the premium to stay on the 7th floor for the ambiance and views inside/outside the main building.

I know you previously reported that they intend to do away with seating around the lobby (which we love) and there are also rumors about DVC rooms possibly being up there. I hope that same feel the 7th floor had before remains.

At the time the CM's on the club level floor still had limited information about the plans for that floor. They had heard that the club lounge would not have seating on the lobby balcony, but that sounded more like a rumor than a confirmed plan. They also didn't know if there would be DVC units on the 7th floor. I got the feeling that the staff isn't told very much. Management doesn't want them to reveal the actual plans to the guests so they keep the information very secret.

They also told us that the new club lounge would have a view of MK. But a guest staying there recently had been told that the lounge will be on the south side of the resort. So who is right?

Here are some construction pics from Bay Lake on September 14th, 2016:

The most complete cabins are on the South side of the lodge nearest the old boat rental dock. As you head south they get less completed but are all framed. On the North side they are working on framing walls but don't have any roofs on yet.

Thanks for posting the construction pictures. :)

They seem to be taking a long time to construct the large buildings but it is nice to see that they are moving along with the cabins.

Here's some pics of work on the South Wing. It appears it will be completely different than it was on the inside, as the interior walls (even the hallway) have been removed. I find it interesting that they have been rebuilt on some floors, but you can still see all the way through others.

It sure will be different when it is done.

That is an understatement! Thanks for the pics. A lot of memories in the south wing...
So what Is the majority opinion regarding the percentage of DVC units for the south wing? Will DVC units really face the inner courtyard? Standard rooms only in the north wing?

I'll bite since speculation is easy. pirate: I'm hazarding the guess that all the rooms in the south wing will be DVC. Anything less would mean an extremely small DVC resort and, further, if you demo and refurbish all those rooms but not the north wing, you've created an inequity.

I'll be back to multi-quote soon, but in the meantime, I've completed my TR which starts HERE. PAGE 17 has my TRIP SUMMARY/ASSESSMENT.
I haven't yet replied to the thread, but I noticed some new construction photos were posted to the WL/VWL thread just yesterday which I will move to here later. There are also photos I took on 9/6 within my TR that I will re-post here for comparison. And, @GrandCalifornian has kindly posted his recent photos here and his 9/11 and 9/14 photos to the WL/VWL thread.
