I just found out the temp recruitment agent I have dealt with for two years is going on maternity leave and won't be back until after I graduate (and will then no longer need her).
I've actually only met her once but we have spoken on the phone so many times.

So I bought her a 'baby's first steps' book to say merry xmas, thanks and congratulation.

I'm feeling good now! It might be a bit much, but hey, her efforts to find me work over the years have funded two WDW trips, a DCL trip, a set of braces and a new car!

Is it weird of me to have done that?

That says it all. If it makes you feel good to give her a gift, then do it. I don't think it's weird at all. I think it's sweet. Giving from the heart is what Christmas is all about.

No!!! It was perfect and a sweet gesture. So many people touch our lives, its nice to let them know. I wish more people made sweet gestures like this!

Kudos to you!

What a very kind gesture! I know I appreciate(d) any gift for my "babies".

I think it was very thoughtful of you, actually. I know you've only met her once, but I know how it can be talking to someone on the phone all the time; you still feel a kind of connection after a while even though you don't always see them.

I know I'm a horrible bad person for thinking this - but shouldn't she have called to say thanks yet?
I dropped it off at her office last night (left it with reception who said they'd give it straight to her).

hhhhmmmmm.......sorry, I know thats picky of me, I just thought it would be appropriate for her to have said thank you.

I'm a recruiter and have been working with some of our potential associates for a long time. When I left on maternity leave this summer I did recieve a few gifts and it made me feel good. Of course I sent thank you notes and included them in the "unofficial" email announcement about the birth. So- don't feel wierd, I'm sure she will appreciate it and it is a very nice gesture!

Wow - over the course of 2 years she has found you enough temp work to pay for 3 vacations (including international airfare), a set of braces and a new car! isn't that thanks enough?

Hey, that would be enough for me. Between this and hearing about Secretarial positions paying $100k a year, I'm almost itching to move to the UK.

You dropped it off at her office, she probably has a million things to do and I'm sure that once she gets the chance she will thank you.

I'm behind you in line, TF! :teeth:

Ignore my whining, she just called to say thanks. I'm so impatient!
As for wanting to work in the UK, I was just talking to an American colleague about that. He said he hates the weather but if you want to earn money, London is the place to be. It's true, we are very lucky. Not the whole UK though, just London. Banking in particular pays extremely well.
