First let me say I have no clue. This is my first one. Well ... unless you count the hand me down that takes full size VHS tapes. :rotfl:

Today I bought a JVC Everio G Series Hard Disk Camcorder.

I want input but first let me tell you why I bought it ...

I liked the fact that I had no tapes or disks to worry about changing every 30 to 60 minutes. I liked the fact that I could plug it into my uv port for directly uploading into my computer. I liked it because it seemed simple. No fuss no muss.

Let me tell you what I am using it for ...

Dual use. First one is family (of course) like vacations or sporting events or whatever. Second one is for my dance studio business. I am trying to get all of my curriculum taped so I can give a visual aid to my new teachers or to teachers who are teaching a new level for the first time.

What I am not worried about ...

I am not worried about having a fancy one. I want one that will get the job done and look halfway decent.

So did I do ok? It was $570 plus the case was $20 plus tax.

I REALLY was hoping to get one for less than that.

I have not opened the box so any one who has input ... that would be great!

We got it as Best Buy but we also have a Costco membership and didn't even think about looking there.

Thanks

I am not familiar with this camera.

What I would consider is maybe taking it back and buy one from Costco only because they are very good at letting you return it if you don't like it. And there is not a restocking charge.

If you open that box from Best Buy and return it within the allowed return period they are going to nail you with a 15% restocking charge. That's one reason I stay away from operations like that.
