Anyone in the Boston area taken Logan Express before. I'm thinking about taking it from Framingham this weekend. How long before your flight do you take the bus? I've got a 8:50 am flight on New Year's Day and I'm trying to decide btw the 6 am bus and the 7am. They say it takes about a half hour. So, I'd either get there at 6:30 am or 7:30 am. Any experience or thoughts?

Taken it once from Braintree. You should be fine with 7:00AM bus. Only thing to be careful is, it may be a busy travel day, so you may want to give yourself some extra time.

The buses are nice - I would do it again.

We've taken Logan Express several times from Braintree as well. This year our plan is to take it TO Logan for our 2:50pm flight, and get picked up by a car service, since we don't get in til 7:30 or so Sunday night.

Personally, I suffer from a touch of travel OCD, so I would take the 6am bus. I'm sure the 7 o'clock one would be fine, but I'd rather be at the airport, and waiting, than being on th bus, wondering about time.

I also don't know historically how busy a travel day New Year's Day is.

Sheesh--I'm not much help am I?

I take the one from Braintree every time I fly out of logan. I think the 6 am would be better. If you hit any traffic on the 7 am you wont get there until 7:30 then you have to stop at each airline thats a few more minutes. then check in curb or inside thats say 10-15 min. then to find the right gate, security. You know if your in a hurry "You" will be the one they almost strip search :rotfl: Ok now its 8 and if the plane leaves at 8:50 they board you 15-20 minutes early. I personally would hate to be rushed that much. I prefer to stop and get my cup of coffee/danish for the flight. Rewash my face prior to getting on the plane. Go to the ladies room in the airport instead of hitting my head on the door of the smelly bathroom in the air. Ok THats it I am leaving for the 6 am bus. Oh.... I am not going :rolleyes1 I may have to look up flights now that I am all planned out.

I also use the one from Braintree quite often. People I work with use the Framingham bus without any problems. The only thing they caution about is that the parking in Framingham is VERY limited and you may have to go to a separate parking area with a shuttle, so arrive early expecting to need extra time to park.

Are you flying Jet Blue? We are leaving logan on dec 31st at 850 too!!! Wonder if it's the same flight!

opps...I just re-read and noticed you were leaving the day after us anyway!!! :rotfl: Sorry!

If the 7:00 am bus gets you to the airport a 7:30, or even a bit later, you'll have no trouble catching an 8:50 flight. I wouldn't expect there to be much traffic at all (on the roads or in the airport) at that time of New Years Day.

I've been using Logan Express almost since it started service to my area (about two or three years this past September). I love it.

Last time, I missed the bus I intended by just a couple of minutes. That one would have gotten me to Logan an hour in advance. I did still make it, but it was close. It was a holiday, so little traffic.

Catching the 7 AM bus for an 8:50 flight should be fine. Just get to the station in plenty of time.

What else can you tell me about this service. I am from south central mass. Where can I catch this shuttle? Can I leave my car for the week or should we have someone drop us off? What locations does it leave from and what is the cost? Sorry for the million questions. Any info??? thanks

We used Logan Express for our last trip. Given the it's a holiday, I'd probably go with the 6am bus. I'd rather be at the airport early than run into problems (traffic, missing the bus, long lines at security, etc). THe service is very prompt and drops off outside of each terminal. We flew Jet Blue, which was the 3-4 stop, each stop lasting about 3-5 minutes depending on how many people were getting off, luggage unloading, so add some time to the 30 minute estimate for that.

I hate to be a thread killer here but I never understood why logan express is so popular. It costs $20 for a round trip on the bus and $66 a week to park so for my wife and I, a week would cost $106 and you have to be concerned about bus schedule. I can go to the Airport and park for $96 a week not having to worry about bus schedules or anything else. Or better yet I can drive an extra 15 minutes to Providence which has frequent cheap non-stops to MCO (Southwest) and parking is $56 a week. To me Logan Express is charging you more for less convenience, and I live 10 minutes from the one in Braintree.

Hi, Michael.

It's $4 for me to take a cab from my house to Logan Express and $20 for the bus itself, and of course another $4 for the return taxi (assuming I can't convince my sister to pick me up). Even with tips, that's less than $35. Compare that to the $96 to park at the airport. Logan Express works great for me - and being about midway between Providence and Manchester, Logan works best for me as well. Everybody's different...

I'm on vacation; I'm using a limo service. $55 from braintree/weymouth/holbrook to logan. Door to door service and comfort. You could actually save money if you have kids over 12.

Sure, absolutely. But in my case, it's just me :) Logan Express works best for me (well, second-best; best is if I leave my car at work and take the T) and DME is the best invention since the microwave - again, for me :teeth:

I take it out of Woburn and I like it too -- I'd much rather beg a friend/relative for a 10 minute ride to the stop in the suburbs than an hour round trip ride in heavy traffic to Logan. We usually get picked up on our return directly, though, since we tend to come back late in the evening.

the last time my family and I left from Logan which was 6 yrs ago back in 2000 we didnt use logan express because what would happen if there was an accident on the hgighway and traffic got backed up for miles and the back way in was also clogged?????

Instead we used Harbor express from the the old Fore River shipyard in Quincy about 10 minutes from my house and we got to the airport in about 20 minutes or so as thats the first stop before it goes over by the Aquarioum. Didnt have to worry about any delays with possible traffic

Um, that's great Sue - but you have to remember not everybody has water transport access to the airport :teeth:
Logan Express drivers know ALL the alternate routes. I figure, if all the routes are so backed up that the bus may not make it to the airport in time, it's gotta be the weather... so chances are the planes aren't going anywhere all that fast either!
