I have tickets to the BNL concert tomorrow. Now, I have not driven into the city since before the Central Artery came down. How is getting into the Fleet these days? I'm wondering if I should bag it, and jump on the train in Braintree, and make sure I leave the show early enough to make it back?

Please help a girl livin in the sticks find her way around the big city! :teeth:

I'd say bag it and take the train so you don't have to pay the crazy money to park. The Commuter rail trains go right there.

Commuter rail might be a bigger hassle. Coming from the South SHore, so have to get from S. Station to N. Station. If we do the subway, we can take the Red Line to the Orange Line.

Shhhh, plus the tickets were comps, so paying to park is still less than one ticket. :teeth:

But, commuter rail is an idea too. Gotta see when the last train out of S Station leaves.

Wish I could help you Debster...I'll be interested in the replies. I think you'll be fine driving in right now, but I'd probably take the train anyway...I hate driving into Boston. I would hope that the trains will run late enough on an event night to get you home without leaving the show early???
My sister (also from NH) just told me that we needed to figure out how we'll get to the Opera House at the end of July for The Lion King...rte 93 will be closed down from the new bridge at the north down to to Chinatown AND the T lines will also be all closed down and disrupted for the Democratic Convention
for security reasons.

Good luck...have fun at the concert!!! :)

NH ann I think they will have figured out the T situation by the beginning of july. They will have a huge problem if it's a mess. I can see the green line having issues, because it always does, but you shouldn't have any redline issues. They will have an alternate route for 93. I don't know if anyone will like it, but it will exist.

Debster I don't think you should have a problem getting to the fleet, all the construction makes way more sense now. Congrats on the comps. That's a nice score.

You won't have any problem at all; the tunnel is well marked. I park in the Govt. Center garage and it's a quick walk over to the Fleet.

I live in RI and don't get into the city too much so when we drive in to see Shania Twain at the Fleet Ctr in September, it was a disaster!! We picked up DH in Needham and went in from there. The traffic was nuts, and parking in the Fleet garage was out of the question--it was full. I would suggest either taking the train, or as someone else suggested, parking at Govt. Ctr.
I so wanted to go see BNL but couldn't bear the thought of dealing with the Fleet Center! I'm sure they are going to put on an awesome show. Have fun--I'm jealous!

I don't know what the commute is like from the south, but the AM commute from the north has gotten quicker since they opened the new bridge/tunnel. I'm in the area of the Fleetcenter every night, and the traffic around the city at about 5:30 isn't all that bad. If you do drive in, I'd suggest parking at one of the garages near Haymarket and walking to the Fleetcenter from there (less than 10 minutes). Causeway Street can be horrible after an event.

Have a great time at the concert! I've seen BNL several times, and they put on a great show!

I wont drive in Boston and I even hate being a passenger in a car there...I hang on to the door for dear life. ;) Weve been in the Fleet for the past 2 weekends. 2 weeks ago for Monsters Inc On Ice we took the orange line(from Oak Grove) in no problems, and Saturday for the Bruins game we took the commuter rail(from the north obviously), and again, it worked out great. Id definitely take public transportation. ;)
Have a great time at the show.

I was in the Fleet Center last December for the Simon & Garfunkle show. I also will not drive into Boston. From the South Shore I took the T out of Braintree. Got off at Park Street and then took the trolley to Lechmere. I think the Fleet is the second stop after you get on the trolley at Park. It was very easy and I don't travel to that area of Boston very much.

Just looked back over my directions. If you didn't live near Boston you'd think that was some sort of code. LOL! :teeth:

I drive into Boston / Gov. Center every day for work. I come from the north though and park at the Gov. Center garage. The only change for me is that the exit I take is now further down - I get off 93 near Haymarket (exit 24) and have to loop back. No big deal though.

The only problem you might encounter is that the Gov. Center garage fills up even faster now. Some of our daytime employees have a hard time finding any open spots at 10-11am. I think they rented out the upper floors of the garage to a business or something. There are plenty other garages in the area to try though.

Have fun at the show - DH saw BNL last night in Manchester!

LOL The Eagle flies at midnight. Hee hee hee

I Totally understand what you said Roberta! S Shore girl here too.

Driving in is not too bad. The Fleet garage is very handy if you get there in time - just be aware that it's a very long wait to get out when the concert's over.

The exit off the expressway is marked, you just get off the exit and turn left at the bottom of the ramp (I think there's a light there now, if not there will be a traffic cop directing traffic). The Fleet garage is on the right, again very clearly marked.

You can do it!!!
