we are looking to travel in Oct. and I have never priced airfare before. Does anyone have average pricing so I know when I have a good deal.

We have flown MSP to BOS and back several times through the past 15-20 years. Overall, we usually pay $225 for an "inexpensive" flight and on the high end - $300.

I just checked orbitz for a few days in May and June and see that the MSP-BOS flights are $222 - $275. That sounds about right to me. The October flights were in the $202 - $247 range. I would say if the rates fall below $200, consider booking it if you have your dates set in stone. It's always hard to know for sure, but I would consider anything under $200 to be good.

.....I just checked Southwest for some dates in October too - $84 each way - and that includes baggage. THAT is a great rate. I don't know for sure, but I'm thinking that if the rate goes down on SW, I think you can rebook. Check that out -- or perhaps someone else could say for sure?? :confused3

Have fun in Minneapolis! Be sure to reserve some time for the Mall of America! :goodvibes

Agree with PP. We're flying out later this month. The cheapest rate was $200. We opted for a little higher for a direct flight (were just going for a long weekend and not alot of time.)

Our "highest reasonable" rate we'll book at is $350 out of Portland or $275-300 out of Boston or Manchester.

Also, don't forget to check MHT and PVD. They are very close to BOS and you might find a bargain. We were thinking of traveling to visit family in TX and we were pricing flights to DFW and for the weeks we were looking at, some days it was cheaper to fly from PVD and other days MHT and other BOS :confused3. It's a little more work, but depending upon which day we left, we could save about $400 by switching airports.

As previous poster mentioned - don't forget to check Southwest - they only sell out off their own website - they fly out of all three airports.

Thanks for all your replies. I will definitely check southwest however I think I'd rather have non stops. It looks like we will be going in Nov. instead of Oct. so I have a little more time. Does anyone know when Southwest will release the next travel dates?
