So, we have a Feb UY and I am hoping to book the VGC for April 2014. I have already used all my 2014 points (yes, I need more!) so I am wondering when I will be able to borrow my 2015 points. I know I need to book right at the 7 month window to get in so now I am concerned I won't have any points available!

You will be able to borrow 2015 points feb 1,2014.

But I think you can make the reservation so long as the date of the trip is past that date . I am not sure though but if so that will help otherwise you will only have a few months .

You can borrow 2015 points for any stay 2-1-14 to 3-31-15. The date you make the reservation doesn't matter, you can do it at 11 months for your home resort, 7 months for others.

Thank you! If I am understanding correctly I will be able to make my reservation for April 2014 using 2015 points in September at the 7 month mark. Now that I think about it I believe I did the same last year, but sometimes all these dates get confusing! Given my constant state of borrowing I think an add on may be in my future

yes.

your UY has nothing at all with when you can call to book. zero.

you have access to "current" pts within the dates of your stay and can bank and borrow to access pts on either side of those current pts. you cannot borrow 2 years ahead. that's all that matters.

so you could call in may 2013 to book your home resort for april 2014 with pts from your 2015 UY. your pts for your 2016 UY are already loaded into your account but they cannot be used for a stay prior to feb 1, 2015 (i.e. within your 2015 UY).

What a relief! I think it was one of those scenarios where I overthought the whole process. Now I will just have to be on the ball to see if I can get the Grand Californian again at 7 months. I managed it last year so fingers crossed!

My husband and I are booking our vacation at the 11 month window on Nov 29th for Oct of next year with a Sept or Oct use year. Can I borrow my 2015 pts in Nov when making the reservations ?

Which use year is it? If it's October and the trip is in October, there is no need to borrow. If its a September use year and the trip is in October, you may need to bank (not borrow) points, but that depends on your whole situation. You don't need points when booking, only when you are traveling.

If you give some more details about what points you are trying to use, then a clearer answer is probably possible.

assuming a sept UY, then your 2014 UY runs from sept 1, 2014 to august 31, 2015. if you call in nov 2013 to book your home resort for oct 2014 (which is in your 2014 UY), then you'd have access to banked 2013 UY pts (if any) + current 2014 UY pts (current based on the dates of the stay - doesn't matter when you call) + borrowed 2015 UY pts (if needed).
