borrowing points

We need to borrow some points to make a resevation for a cruise in October 2005. Can make this booking in November we have been advised.

Our home resort is OKW and we were told we must borrow points from a member with October 2004 use year. Hope this makes sense.

Has anyone done this and can give us some advice. Do the points have to come from OKW or can they be from another resort if available?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

First terminology. Borrowing would be from your next use year. Getting points from another member would be a transfer. Most members would expect payment, especially if it's more than a point or two. Your options depend in part on how many points you'll have available by banking, borrowing and the then current use year. Your options as I see them are these:

• Get together enough points to do it all using points.
• Pay at least one adult using points then pay cash for the rest through MS.
• Pay all cash, possibly renting out your points to pay for it.

The latter will be your cheapest option for a number of reasons. It will also be the safest if you have to change your plans.

If we can find a member to transfer some points to us (for payment of course) we shall have enough to do three adults and pay for the fourth. We know they must be October 04 use year but are not sure if this can be from any Disney Resort or just our home resort OKW. Would like to do this before we try and do the transfer with another member.

They can be points from any resort and I'm not sure why they would have to be from your October use year. Did MS tell you that? You can transfer in points from another owner that have any use year. That really shouldn't matter at all.

We are not going to use the points until October 2005 and therefore need to use current points and borrow our following year. They just said they must be October 2004 use year.

Actually any points good Oct, 2005 should do. This would include many use years. You should talk to MS again to make certain what will work and what wouldn't. Consider doing it by email so you have a written documentation.
