I hope this isn't a dumb question - but can you borrow points to make a reservation even though you have plenty of points already in your account to make the reservation? Here is my situation. If you've been following my other thread - I am attempting to get an II exchange to Hawaii. Right now I have used all our 2007 (April use year) points and have 211 points left in 2008. We have no idea when this exchange might come through. It is my understanding that when it does come through we have to have the points available at the moment the reservation is made; not at the time when you will be staying. So I need to keep at least 160 points available from 2008 just in case the exchange occurs. BUT I'd like to go ahead and make a reservation for 2008 at the 11 month period at HHI. Assuming we would be staying June 2008 at HHI and I make the ressie in July 2007, I would need to borrow from 2009 to make that reservation. Will MS let me borrow from 2009 even though I have 2008 points available? Does this make sense or am I completely misunderstanding things?
